Black Z thread
- Not sure what to do
I’ve stepped back from mine a couple of times to catch my breath, it’s hard shelling out money for parts and seeing little improvement in the actual car, it’s when you have all the parts and you complete the jigsaw that you realize what you’ve got. I bought loads of parts when I got my Z in ‘05, was collecting parts ‘06, car got engine damage, kept collecting parts, car got fixed and running over ‘07-‘09 and I knackered it driving through a puddle. Lost all love for the thing from ‘09-‘15. Then got out some of my parts and reignited the love, have been tipping away at it ever since (still haven’t driven it on a road since ‘09). I’ve taken a few months away from it here and there over the last year and a half, but the end is in sight, car is painted, upgrades have been done, engine is being forged as we speak, all the parts of the jigsaw are starting to pull together, interior, turbos, intercoolers and exhaust bills for both cars is being chipped away at, the end is in sight for the blue Z, while I’m only at the starting line with the red one. All in all, when I eventually do sit into my fresh upholstered interior and start up my freshly built and run in / mapped engine, hear the burble from the exhausts and take her for a drive, it’ll be definitely worth it:yes: All the heartbreak of poor mechanics doing poor work, the cursing, the stress, the letdowns, the costs, will be a distant memory  You have to treat these cars as your hobby, spend money and time sourcing everything to put it together in the best possible way to save you these heartbreak moments down the road. I thought I’d have my car running in 2015, then said summer 2016, ‘17 and so on. I figured she’d be up and running for ‘18, but hey!, it’s not the end of the world if it takes another year, it’s the people you meet, experiences you get, the camaraderie along the way of your Z journey, from start (broke down on the side of the road), rusty sills etc. to having a machine like the two Simons, Joel’s, Ian’s, Andrew’s etc etc. That’s when you realize it was all worth it:punk:- Losing the love with the Z
Hold onto it and get a second toy, it’s not like you have payments to be made on it, it’s a beautiful car Simon and let’s face it, we all lose the love for the Z at some stage. I’m actually looking to change the house for when my cars are done, so that they can be stored indoors and tinkered away on, in my spare time. Get yourself a second garage (change your property to something that can store a couple of cars), but don’t sell the Z. We always see people returning on here looking to find reg no’s of the Z they sold as they miss them. It’s a hobby car, if you got rid and bought a modern machine, what will you spend your spare time doing?? It won’t be looking for new OEM parts to fit to make your new toy stand out, as it’s new already, sure, you can swap out the wheels and maybe eek out a bit more power, but that’s it. Your Z is the cleanest, most newest car available due to your little updates on her, you won’t have any of that with a modern toy. The excitement of finding a NLA or Rare part will be gone. You’ll just have a generic modern car. Even the R35’s are becoming common, seen a 2010 Irish one and didn’t think anything of it (as there’s another 2 at the parents house). I’d definitely go the route of keeping it as your classic toy, store it somewhere close by that’ll mind it and that you can get to easy, when you feel like it, it costs nothing to feed etc. Get yourself something that you won’t lose a fortune on when you tire of it. Clean F-Types, Aston’s, Porsche’s etc. can be easily replaced but finding another Z in the condition/quality of your Z can’t :thumbup1:- JaiKai - MK2 - Ziggy Build
Oh my!! They’re clean:yes: nice work Lee:thumbup1:- Richie's "Blue Thunder" Build Thread!!
Ha!! Jealousy will get you nowhere mate!! You don’t want a second one, you’ll always be broke!! Was busy stripping the second set of AMG’s down today, then went for a spin down to the guys at JDM, sorted out a couple of sets of wheels for members and forgot to collect my bloody tires for the Volks, (which I’ve really taken a shine to), discussed options of putting the 9’s on the front of either car and building out the 8’s to 10.5-11”:innocent: Needless to say, this won’t be happening for quite a long time, have a leak in my stem valve of one of the Veilsides, so looked into getting a set of these also:whistling:- Recommendations - ECU Mapping
Excellent figures Taz, can’t wait to get mine up to him - Richie's "Blue Thunder" Build Thread!!

A lot of lads go for the Recaro's as they were fitted in the later spec Z's. I've a set of Sparco Torino's and Konig K5000 G4's that I was going to try in the 2 seater- FAO any interior Group Buy participants having seats trimmed - another Group Buy?

Might have to hold off on this for the moment, Jo gets me a discount once a year and Jimmer is up to his eyeballs in work, so it's not fair on him to have my freshly painted Z sitting in his yard / workshop when he's not ready for it:no:. There's not much point in wasting a cheap ferry crossing just to get my red Z to Keith and having an empty trailer for the weekend, then having to pay full price at a later date. I still might pop over to do some alterations to my blue Z and leave the red one here for another while where some of the basic mechanics (swap out the subframe etc) can be done. I'll see what's what when I get home:thumbup1:- Richie's "Blue Thunder" Build Thread!!

I was in the same boat here in Ireland, wasted money getting mechanics to "learn" how to work on the Z, still wasn't right and pulled the newly fitted engine. Wasted upwards of €3500 before I just bit the bullet and trailered the car to Jimmer @Powerzed. You just have to get it to the other side of the country . I had to travel across Ireland, catch a ferry and then travel halfway across the UK mate:whistling:. It will still work out cheaper than shelling out a fortune to inexperienced mechanics, who will half ass the car up and be back to square 1. Jimmer at Powerzed is the only person you should bring this car to:thumbup1:- Southend Area garage.

Hopefully heading over to Keith in Wales, picking up the blue Z and dropping her down to Jimmer’s, plan is to strip off the SRT8 calipers and fit my freshly powdercoated AMG’s if everything turns up for them before Thursday :thumbup1:- Richie's "Blue Thunder" Build Thread!!

Quick update, calipers have gone to powdercoaters and I'm currently waiting on a response from Jo regarding a ferry crossing for a jeep and trailer for sometime next Thursday:whistling: That's right!! I'm (hopefully) heading over to the UK with the red Z:thumbup: Anyone around next weekend, give me a shout, as I'm planning on doing it rough  (sleeping bag in the back of the jeep)- Richie's "Blue Thunder" Build Thread!!
