Atleast youve taken the plunge mate, I dont really smoke any more. I do get caught out occasionally. But mostly I dont smoke for months, then for some reason have a bit of a lapse and have a couple, which is odd, if I can go months then I can go all the time. No idea why I still crave the odd one every now and then after so long without em. Although I once had my doctor say that it takes up to 2 years for your body to try and clear out all the shit it can from fags, and traces of nicotine can still be in your body for up to this long after not having a single fag :O All the best with it mate!

Get some dodgy dash mounted guage pod and just sit it over the top of em at night (if you can find one that fits!) Super glue some old wires to the inside and have em hanging out the holes, bet no scamper will touch the thing then.

Once had my 200 MOT'd. the guy looked under the back when it was on the ramps with a torch and said that I had a problem my bushes were gone. Indeed they were ****ed but I didnt have chance to replace em before MOT. As he went to start playing with em, I said no need and that they were fine, the gunk is where I had to hammer and hacksaw the old ones out lol. So he left it at that. MOT stations round here are shocking, they just go in the car give the seat belt a tug, if its locked it passes :O, they do have a quick peak for tears etc but never seen em check if it retracts lol.

16psi standard head gasket for a year, and 12psi for two years prior, no probs. Andy's advice seems sound. You checked for any other coolant leaks? that would be my first plan of action. If U think it is head gasket, is there any white smoke when running from zorsts? any noises from manifold? Sometimes if its only minor failure the heat will expand the parts and bridge the gap, so you might not get steam etc from under until it cools a little. But I would think you will still have water crossing over for sure and entering zorst if its ****ed.

Bushes, and if they are squidgy, they are probably ****ed. Seen any white gluey stuff comming out of em? looks similar to glue or spunk, If you have, they defo ****ed, go for some polly ones.

Fool guage? lol Swap the airflow sensor with a local Zer and see what happens, it really does sound like what happens when they play up. Did you notice the very occasional hesitation when pulling off sometimes before it died? Generally the biggest problem is them getting wet, they seem to die pretty easy! Have you got a weather guard under your induction (if youve got an induction?). If tis been sunny for ages and its only just come on seems odd, I guess they can still fail. If not the Airflow Sensor then it sounds like ignition prob to me, but having said you checked all the usual culprits im not sure mate :S

Dave mate, im all ****ed off with this shit country, they take the piss, then take the piss, and when your down they take the piss some more!!!! Want to move abroad (america pref), but me missus dont want to leave her family here GRrrrrrrrr. America why? Cause you can buy flatpack houses cheap, meals are bigger, stufff is cheaper, things are always there first ( we get all the throwbacks!), petrol is a big benefit!, freak weather aside, I want to go :( Had the chance to go with me last job to work there, (mind you got made redundant so too late now!!!!!!!!!). Oh well, back to shitty old england and GBR (tell me whats great about it? taxes? weather?)

p.s if its been raining heavily where you are then that helps identify it?
