Can I please have
Its manual. I watched the gauge and it was low. But can you really trust the original gauge? What else you saying it could be then? Just the timing of the noise coming in all points to the oil pump. And when you put a screwdriver on the pump casing its loud as f**k

Can I please have
A list of all the bits that I would need for an oil pump change. Gaskets and all that stuff.... Thanks

Ffs!!!
Unfortunately its not quite that easy after reading up on here what you have to do :( Support the engine, drop the cross member off, remove sump all to get at two bolts that are holding the pipe that feeds into the bottom of the sump which is connected to the pump!

I've just replaced all of those with new idlers!!!

Ffs!!!
Me and bro. put screwdriver on it and put in ear = very very loud noise Had a hunch from the very beginning cause it did it a few seconds after start up, just as the pump is getting up to full pressure. Just wanted it to be something else easier to change!

Looks like it my oil pump making the noise!!!!!1 Massive job to get it out!!! What of fooking £5500 so far buying this car. Spose to have been a good one!! Atleast I could drive my other car even though it smoked!!!! Out of money, so gonna have to do it myself. DOH :headvswal :headvswal :headvswal Thought this would have been checked when the engine was out only 15000miles ago. But looking at things on the engine as I've been taking things apart, I dont think the matey was very good!!!!

Oil Pump Whirring?
Dave, unfortunately the noise was there before the belts (cam and auxillary) were changed. The cam belt idlers have also been replaced thus eliminating them from the equation. Oil Pump removal is looking imminent I think :(

Oil Pump Whirring?
On a note everthing else that can spin that can be removed has been. There are no auxilary belts and the guide plate on the bottom timing gear has been removed as we initially thought it was this, but it still makes the noise with it off which was when i used the screwdriver on the casing and nearly went deaf!

Oil Pump Whirring?
Sounds like a bit of a job then! As for the noise this one is abnormal :( i'm sure the oil pump is spinning but the noise that can be heard shouldnt be there. Greg here is a vid of the whirring noise we have taken I think we better be sure it that the oil pump is knackered before we start this job! Thanks for the input

Oil Pump Whirring?
First off hi as its Rodders (aka Marks) brother here. I have been helping him today take a look at his engine to try to diagnose where the whirring noise he has is emanating from. He started the engine and I first used a hose in my ear to get the general area (bottom centre of the engine) then I used a screwdriver pressed upon the oil pump casting and I'm pretty sure the noise is coming from behind this bit. Does anyone know what could be causing the oil pump to have this odd whirring noise? It is odd as it isnt there straight away, I'm guessing that it starts once the oil pressure has risen after a few seconds and is very prominent for a few mninutes and then it subsides almost completely, but it is still there in the backround just. I have had a scout through previous posts and found someone with a similar problem, unfortunately there was no solution or conformation of what the problem was posted up. So does anyone know the reason for the pump to whir and is it the case of that a new pump needs to be fitted? Also is it correct that we will have to drop the sump to replace the pump (if required) as I also read about this being mentioned in another post. Thankyou in advance for any replies Paul

3yrs owning and first probs
Claim for a screen on insurance!!! Clutch, you can get off Smithy (uprated) for £300 I think it is. Any garage should be able to fit for around £150 ish Its not worth fitting a standard clutch, as the uprated is only a little more and take way more power and lasts longer!!!

Tesco 99
Stole this from another site: Ok as promised i have tried to find out as much as possible about the Tesco Super Unleaded (99 RON) Unfortunately i have been unable to find out what has been added nor where the fuel is sourced from (lots of red tape) however, there has been independant testing on this fuel alongside BP Ultimate and Shell Optimax. Due to confidentiality im unsure as to weather im able to discuss the finer details though ;ets just say the research showed BHP gains with tesco 99 to be significantly greater than shell and BP. Coupled with the fact that Tesco is almost certainly cheaper if not the same price as these other forecourts the wise man would certainly choose tesco. Tesco currently has Super Unleaded at 200 of its forecourts and is investigating spreading that availability.
