And we think we have problems with potholes!
I bet he thought his suspension had collapsed until he went below ground level LOL

Power Stearing Problem?
If it's the speed sensor then the steering goes heavy at low speed and very light at high speed - total opposite of what it should be. At speed you find you can hardly keep it in a straight line as the slightest movement of the wheel makes you wobble.

Help needed
Insurance will probably be about the same on a non-turbo as a turbo! It costs more because they were never sold here - only turbos were sold in the UK. I'd get prices for both if I were you.

New battery needed
I've got a big heavy duty Bosch one for about £35 from my local trade place. Speak to Macca as he has got a few of these for people and they are a top battery.

Who sent me ....
I hope you get many years of enjoyment from my old filler flap mate! :D Why the hell do you need a new filler flap anyway? There's not much to go wrong with 'em is there? LOL

PPS Respray
He's got albums of the work he has done but not sure about colour swatches. Top bloke and a top job too. He did mine and I don't think ANYONE could have done a better job.

Rear light tints.
I sprayed mine before I changed to the quad rear lights but didn't do a very good job of it. I rushed it and ended up with a couple of runs because I didn't remove the lights and lay them flat. I also put too much on - didn't realise it looks much darker once it dries. When I put the quad lights on I didn't like the look of the indicators and reversing light so Peter at PPS used red tint to make it look like 4 matching red lights on the back. Only problem is my reversing light glows a nice shade of pink!

Dumb but different auto question
I've never understood why you can't tow an auto? What is it about them that makes it a no no? Would have though if it's in neutral it wouldn't matter.

Advice on major transplant op required
Surely there are only about 3 wires on the harness from the alternator?? I would have thought most stuff would run to the battery... A Z couldn't be that simple though!

Turbo Timer
I fitted a Blitz one and it took all of 5 minutes to do as it came with a Z harness. Only problem with them is they stop your alarm arming until the engine switches off so you still have to sit there and wait! There are ways to wire it in to work OK but I don't know anyone who has done it here on a Z.

Most powerful auto
I think the badge on the back of his car says 600ZX. but anyone can put a badge on...

Lights - Fog lamp upgrade...
I did this on mine and put 130W bulbs in. Makes a big difference but they are still only fog lights and don't light up the road ahead of you very well. As you can't drive around with your fogs on all the time without being pulled you may as well use main beam. I have been looking out for a replacement for the fogs that has some kind of beam to light the road ahead to help with the standard lights but haven't found anything. Maybe I should just buy a rally pod with 6 KC Daylighters? ;)

Advice on major transplant op required
I need a new engine and gearbox and am looking at buying a scrap Z to change the lot over and maybe get a bit of cash back by selling a few of the other goodies that I don't need. My only worry is it will be hard to know the exact condition of the engine/box unless it is driveable when I get it, although I will be able to swap bits from my old engine to fix minor stuff. My Z is a Jap spec auto but the cheapest way to do things looks like getting a manual Z and swapping the lot over. (Rebuilding the auto box to cope with about 400+ bhp is going to cost about £1500 alone) I am going to do the work with the help of a couple of forum mates and other car nuts I know. I know a few people have swapped an auto to manual box but have any of you swapped the engine too? What are the likely problems with doing this? Will the ECU need changing? Will have one in the donor car anyway. Will the bits swap OK from UK to import? Any other stuff that might be a problem? Radiator? I think I saw someone mention the alternator harness needed changing? Anyone know where I should be looking to find a good scrap Z?

What Wheels?
I love these three piece Axis Se7en's and might have to change mine even though I only just put the Azev's on about 500 miles ago! LOL http://www.turbomagazine.com/features/0204tur_whitelight/index.html

Info on a Z.
I've seen that one too but can't remember where... Was it at Billing last year??

Speed Trap Detector Reliability
Your Valentine One is meant to be about the best there is so I think you'll find the camera wasn't in use. AFAIK the vans use either a Gatso or tripod mounted laser gun so you should have picked it up. I presume your detector is set up correctly and gets normal Gatso's? You can dissable unwanted frequencies on most of these devices now so hopefully you have it set OK. Maybe it was just a Z fan taking pics of your motor? :D

Leather interior?
Paul G fitted a nice kit to his and it looks superb. He might have some pics too.

Best way to get warning of detonation?
Thanks Andrew, that's an interesting read. So basically there's not much way of telling if it's happening other than watching the stock detonation sensor at low revs and keeping the boost below a level that it starts? I would have thought though that it's still possible to get detonation at high revs flat out (which is when mine died) when it was showing no signs at lower revs? Only problem is the amount of boost you can use varies massively from day to day with atmospheric pressure, air temperature and type of fuel...

Best way to get warning of detonation?
What's the best way to get the car running at maximum boost and know you're not detting? I've seen a detonation warning gauge on a site somewhere and wondered if these are any good? Am I better getting an exhaust gas temp meter instead? I've got a boost controller so safety boost is mostly bypassed. Had one engine die from possible detonation at high revs and don't want it happening again... :(
