  1. hi matey, its not a mask kenwood unit is it? where the front panel turns over, you have to press a concealed button on the front that is not marked? also check your iso connections for live and switched live sometimes their the other way round thats sound more like the culprit for you, ignition live ect
  2. in all fairness you will be able to helicoil it if its the hub, is it a decent depth hole? you wont weld cast im afraid not unless your a specialist welder, but safety is your best bet matey expecially in the brake side of things where there is a lot of stress and shear forces involved.
  3. hi matey, have a look if you can on helicoil sizes, i.e m8 would at a guess say drill 8.5mm and tap maybe 10mm, the helicoil would then be inserted in to the 10mm hole giving you then 8mm thread, have you priced up a used carrier matey? big of a doggy area on brakes i would be tempted to go for a decent used one instead of reparing it and crossing fingers it wouldnt fail and jam your wheel at 70mph although helicoils are very srtong we do use them at work quite often, good luck :)

  25. Hi there matey, I had a very similar problem on mine and it turned out to be a vacum leak through the clutch vacum booster under the dash, was very hard to find untill the leak went much worse, is yours a manual? i know its clutching at straws but you could do much worse than taking off the pipe to the clutch booster and sucking to see if your getting a vacum and while your down there do the brake booster too, worth a try matey and it will eliminate them from your problems if its not that....good luck :)
