oh! dear no turning back now!! valve seals!!
well no rest for the wicked!! just pulled all the stem seals from cylinder 1!! fabricated a spring compression tool that bolts to the top of the head and hey presto away you go!! well im not blowing my own horn here cos i gotta get the damn things back in!! and this is the tricky part!! not the seals but the bloody collets!! is there an eisier way to get the seals out rather than use a flipping long nosed pliers ?? i noticed that the valves were quite slack on the seals dont know if there meant to be tighter or what!! any way heres the pics for you!! ;) i must also make a drift to hammer the new seals back in place ( thanks alan for the seals  )

oh! dear no turning back now!! valve seals!!

oh! dear no turning back now!! valve seals!!
so where am i up 2 nite then after working all day?? ok then main pulley, jam a screwdriver into the hatch by the starter moter to hold the ring gear get a big torque wrench or t bar and scaffold pole!! 27mm socket for the pulley bolt and give it some!!!!! fabricate a pulley puller like i did and pull that sucker off!! take off the rest of the timing covers!! put stopper bolt in tensioner and remove the tensioner and timing belt!! remove camshaft pulley, im doing one piston at a time so i only pulled off 2 pulleys from the same side for now!! remove camshaft, dont mix up the bearings!! check that the other cams have relaxed and that all valves are up & refit main pulley bolt, caerfully turn crankshaft so that it turns a full 360 degrees with no problems dont forget to pull the sparkplugs, put screwdriver in piston hole number 1 and turn crank 2 find top dead centre of piston!! thats all i did 2nite folks, 2mos must fabricate a valve compressor to work from the top, should be fun!!

speaking of bling!!!
damn bob is that what it was!! i thought it was a new bling ubend for my toilet LOL!!! no probs bud hopfully doing it this weekend!!

speaking of bling!!!
paint stripper fella its great stuff, brings all the paint off and doesnt leave any scratches!! i have just sand blasted my other rocker covers bit of a bad idea i think as the polishing wheel cant get to every nook and cranny and leaves it looking rough at least with paintsripper it leaves where you cant get to a little bit dull!!

oh! dear no turning back now!! valve seals!!
well trinity when are you coming over to help me out :D :D all i have drained so far was the radiator!! the thermostat is still in the housing holding the water in the block and heads!! if the thermostat falls out im gonna get soaking LOL!! 1 1/2 hours to get the plennum & rockers off, 1 1/2 to get the rad out and the aux belts and the timing covers!! not started the main pulley yet!! dont forget its not a race take your time and remember where everything goes thats the trick here!!

oh! dear no turning back now!! valve seals!!
i think i must have big balls or very stupid lol!! :smash: right then what have i done so far!! removed the plennum, what a friggin nightmare but after much kicking and screaming off it came!! rad, yep out it came!! cambelt covers there off, rocker covers off also!! not as easy as you might think as the bolts closest the wings are a bit of a pita!!, in work 2mos!! find a damn 27mm socket to remove the underdrive pulley!! fabricate a tool to use on top of the head to compress the springs!!, now then with regards to compressed air!! i have read somewhere that some vacum tubing stuffed down the sparkplug hole works well to keep the valves up!! will have to measure how much i put in!! turn the crankshaft so it just about nips up against the valves, and when i have done the valves must remember to reverse the crank b4 remove tubing!! here are some pics of todays progress!! removed the rad, timing covers and aux belts!!

main & big end bearing grade confirmation
please can anyone help me finding the right grade of bearing for my 1990 tt auto uk spec ok then here are the numbers as i see them, reading the block from the oil pump end the numbers read 2 2 1 1 and on the crankshaft at the oil pump end they read F2 1 2 1 i think but not 100% that the grades required would be 4 3 3 2 right then now for the conrods on the crankshaft at the flywheel end the numbers read 1 0 1 1 1 11 (11 must mean a 2 please can you confirm) and on each of the conrods they read no1 1G1 no2 1G0 no3 1G0 no4 1G1 no5 1G0 no6 1G1 so im not sure what grades are required for these, if someone can help me figure it out please that would be ace!! also im replacing a piston for a second hand one, its in good nick but i need to fit it with my conrod is it ok to do this, i will double check all the dimensions of the piston pin and check for play thanks in advance dewi.

tropical fish whitespot!!!!!
does anyone here keep any tropical fish?? i have 2 clown loaches, orange spot pleck, swordtails, red tail shark angels, i have just noticed the dreaded white spot on the loaches and a cotton wool like growth on the shark, what is the best way to rid of white spot quickly, i have been treating the water for 3 days now and the loaches dont seem any better, i have removed the carbon from the filter, whilst i am treating them and raised the water above 29degrees, am i on the right track or is there an eisier method and less stresful for the fish!! any help much appreceated
