AFAIK the 40Gb version WILL still play PS1 games as this is done in S/W, it wont play PS2 games however. TBH once you start playing PS3 games you wont want to play many of your old PS2 games LOL! I sold most of mine with my PS2 & got £95 back! I did keep GT4 as its the nuts until 5 comes out :D apart from that the differences are minor - card slots for memory cards - just get a usb adapter, which is what i have to do on my 60gig one anyway as xd cards arnt supported LOL
