  3. john - i think i'll stick with my JWT to be on the safe side!! :D Mooch, click on the link i posted, tells you all about it ;)
  4. Oh, good come back!!
  5. LMAO!! so now youre agreeing with me then eh?? like i said from what i saw on the sig of the guy pete beat, he has fairly similar mods BTW. :xxx: :slap:
  6. fitted mine behind the drivers headlamp with a bracket coming off the slam panel (which is where the standard UK one was fitted)
  7. yeah, i have downloaded it & have looked at the .bins that came with it the other day. :) i was just wondering if anyone was running these custom maps & what they think of them compared to the mass market chips (JWT etc), & if they have had any dynos done for comparison?
  8. ok,ok. so the big question is: how do you explain that the GTO lost then??? :slap:
  9. ah, ok. the site said it was safer & produced more power than a JWT. are you running your own custom chip john?
  10. not being funny, but i dont think you're gonna be needing any more than stock on an N/A!!
  11. well apart from being about 20 times more complex, there still held together by nuts & bolts!! ;)
  12. http://cherrypicker.tripod.com/turboupgradeforvg30dett/id9.html its meant to be better than the JWT. any comparisons, comments, dyno runs??
  13. i would be in trouble if i didnt - I run a Mercedes Workshop!! ;)
  14. I would say without all the faffing about with the belt, about 2hrs. you could prob do it in less by leaving the rad in. i took it out cos it gives you that little bit more room to work & my air gun fitted straight on the pulley bolt with it out of the way!! :D one other thing i would mention is the pulley is very tight on the crank, especially as its ally. i run a fine file around the inside to ensure there was no high spots then warmed it up with an electric hot air gun to expand it a little. bit of copper slip & on it went :) BTW, the new pulley weighs in at just over 1kg, the old one is 6kg!!
  15. my MOT tester is very understanding ;)
  16. my review: http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=30631
  17. yeah, the belt for the alternator & water pump it too short on my car (985mm supplied) i got the belt above from my local factors (1013mm long) which fits fine. bit of a panic as my car was stripped down in bits & i thought they would all be shut  the other 2 belts were fine dont know if it was supplied wrong or theres something different on the lengths for US/UK cars (wouldnt have thought so??) anyway - job done now. im back home :D (a little bit quicker than i would have been before too!!) does feel a lot quicker now - well impressed (apart from the belt!!)
  18. ok (talking to myself here!!) problem solved, for those that have bought this kit i have bought a new belt: Gates part no 48366 4pk1013 running it up in the W/S now - time for road test in a min!! :)
  19. feck, the alternator/water pump belt is too small :(
  20. yea, there are some companies about that make no extra charge for imports, mine would have been the same for an import as for my UK. but they are few & far between
  21. yup - this is one of the reasons why imports cost more to insure :( many people just have a uk one fitted
  22. yeah but thats even more outweighed by all the lard it carries!! & i still dont think it is that much of a benefit anyway in non slippery conditions :p (& pete beat the 4wd Mitsi anyway! :D ) try racing a gixer thou over a 1/4 mile. thats only got one wheel (ps pete still won remember :xxx: ) yes, but my point was - if 4wd was that much of a benefit, then they would have 4wd wouldnt they  (oh, did i mention petes zed beat the fantastic 4wd GTO  )
  23. lightwieght underdrive pulley kit has just turned up. i'll try to get it fitted this afternoon & give a report! :)
