TT Exhaust modification... Screamer Pipes
No no no!! The only point whatsoever with screamer pipes is that they are to be used with larger turbos such as the Greddy TD05/06 range that are designed without any internal wastegate & HAVE to run an external one Sticking one on a stock turbo with an internal wastegate will have several issues - a) the wastegate is part of the turbo outlet for the exhaust - you will need to modify a divorced type downpipe & will have to make sure you have a complete gas tight seal around the wastegate or you will just have a constant "exhaust leak" pipe rather than a "screamer" pipe b) as a smaller type internal wastegate it will probably sound cack (not just cool but annoying after 5 mins but really cack!) c) as screamer pipes were only designed for race applications for cars running external wastegates, you will now be in the same league as people that fit electric "dump" valves to non turbo cars thinking its cool d) because of © above this will now be a very Barry thing to do - people will come to 300zx.co.uk from all over the world to mock the zed community here in the UK e) as a result of (d) above the price of zeds will plummet, as opposed to the gradual increase that many owners have been commenting on recently f) for most of the reasons above many current zed owners will abandon the 300zx.co.uk website, many will sell up while others may contemplate suicide there are probably other reasons but I think there is enough good reason there not to fit them to stock tubs!!

TT Exhaust modification... Screamer Pipes
LOL! If I had those it would be the coolest thing ever for about 5 mins, then I would have to weld them into the downpipes as it would annoy the hell out of me!!

New MOT reg for checking presence of catalytic converter
so it could be either!! :D

New MOT reg for checking presence of catalytic converter
additional information for vehicles with unknown date of reg which is not shown on the MOT computer: 3. Vehicle ‘first used’ Dates - Application of Test Criteria NT’s will normally be provided with the vehicle details as part of the Vehicle Specific Information supplied by the MOT database. This will usually include the vehicle’s ‘first used’ date. Where this information is available, the NT should only use Reasons for Rejection applicable to the vehicle’s age. However, in cases where this information is not available or incorrect, the NT should determine the vehicle’s ‘first used’ date as follows: a. Its date of manufacture, if the vehicle was originally used without being registered in GB (e.g., an imported vehicle or ex-HM Forces vehicle), or b. Vehicles having a Q plate registration when presented for MOT are to be treated as follows: For emission purposes only, all these types are to be considered as vehicles first used before 1 August 1975. For all other testing purposes they are to be considered as being first used on 1 January 1971, or c. In any other case, the earlier of either: · Its date of first registration, or · The date six months after it was manufactured. Generally nearly all tests will come up with the date of reg automatically on the computer This will be date of reg if it was date of manufacture then new vehicles may need testing sooner for its first test - on a new vehicle you get 3 years from date of first use - I saw A CLK recently that had sat for around 2 years before being registered. This would have affected this if they went for build date however as you can see some imports may still be using build date so there are some exeptions but generally the MOT computer will come up with the date & this is how the tester will test

New MOT reg for checking presence of catalytic converter
Ooh - I do love a challenge! May I present exhibit "A" from the VOSA testers manual: Note the wording "Vehicle first used on or after 1 August 1995" for most vehicles this refers to the date of registration - not the date of manufature. When the tester logs the vehicle for testing it will only provide the date of reg - not the build date for testing purposes. If no VSI (vehicle specific information) is provided on the printout then the tester can ask to see the V5 - again, for date of reg. exhibit "B" from the testers guide states: The reasons for refusing to carry out the test are: a. The log book / registration certificate or other evidence of the date of first use is not produced if the information therein, is necessary for the test to be carried out. We can only test from the date of first use - not production date which will often be unknown. There are certain exceptions for imports, Q plates & vehicles with older engines installed

New MOT reg for checking presence of catalytic converter
depends on exact date of reg if its a '95 car - all cars need a cat check after 1st August 1995, so if yours is registered before this then you will fall into the non cat test catagory - sfter this date the cat test will apply

New MOT reg for checking presence of catalytic converter
yea - HIDs are fine - the test just calls to check headlamp washers & self levelling devices if fitted smoked lenses are only an issue if it severely affects the light output from memory.

New MOT reg for checking presence of catalytic converter
oh - forgot to add, red cars must have a cat regardless

New MOT reg for checking presence of catalytic converter
We have just had a special notice from VOSA about the change in MOT tests at the beginning of this year Clarification that the check for the presence of a catalytic converter only applies to petrol vehicles that qualify for a full catalyst emmisions test regardless of the result of the Basic Emissions test so for most zeds (upto '95 vehicles), as we do not have a full cat test it will be fine to decat & pass the MOT with no problems :)

Injectors
Not that I would try it - the upper plenum is not too bad to remove & once you have done the water bypass mod then it becomes a whole lot easier to refit & take off again in the future - but here is a link to removing the injectors with the plenum in place: http://s95014253.onlinehome.us/63104/155253.html

Blue Smoke??
thats from the states - I would think shipping would cost more than any saving made - try MJP in our traders section for genuine parts. dont forget the hoses - there are 5 in total but 1 is a bit of a pig to get to - the front 2 & rear 2 off the hoses are the most important, they will probably be rock hard when you try to take them off & some have restrictors in which can clog. The rattle test is not really that conclusive - it doesnt really mean they are definately sealing inside under boost - I would just replace them anyway TBH :)

any BT or telephone engineers on here?
Thanks bud - very thoughtful of you :) I will try ringing them just in case they have other ideas but I did speak to them when I tried to place the order & they said that they would relocate the master by simply running a wire over skirting etc. which I dont want. I have read on the 'tinterweb that you can join some cables in the master to route this to another socket, making this the master. Now I know many things on the web should be taken with a pinch of salt so I was wondering if anyone had experience of this & if it really can be done

any BT or telephone engineers on here?
