My premium with £25k agreed valuation is £430 taking in to account the uninsured idiot that hit my car causing me to have a fault claim on my insurance, however with all mods declared and that agreed valuation, i think thats actually quite reasonable with a claim on record. Previously my premium was under £200 but flux decided to wack it up to over £700 after the incident that lead to a claim. Nice of them to penalise me for an unisured drivers mishap! Im now with lancaster.

I see what you're saying Chris. The Zclub will give a true valuation of the car based on it's overall condition, service history, modifications and bills for parts etc. They give a realistic figure based on the individual vehicle and although it may not cover all that you have spent, it will at least give you a much better value than the usual insurance would do. there's nothing saying that you cant ask the insurance company to insure it for a figure you have in mind, but if you cant back that up with a valuation from a trusted source, they will usually have their own valuations people assess it for them. i don't think their own assessors will hold the necessarily have the knowledge to actually really know the worth. That said, you can always ask for the figure you want, but if they decide to have a valuation done, this can also work out less in your favour.

I guess that all depends on how you look at it chris? As I've spent in excess of £30k on my car, if i don't have an agreed valuation figure set with the insurance company, in the event of an accident or loss i would be paid the going rate for the car or book price which i believe is around £7000 less the excess. in effect that would leave me around £25k out of pocket, where if i have the agreed valuation in place, i only stand to lose a few grand which is far more acceptable in my opinion. As time passes the car will of course accrue a higher valuation, so although i may lose a certain amount, i wont be losing everything i've spent! I'm sure you'd agree, after spending this amount on getting the car to the standard it is at, getting back near what you've paid is far better than next to nothing! Insurance will never pay out every penny you spend on a car, neither will selling it on, but at least this way i'm protected to a level where i can at least be safe to know i could replace the car with something nearer to the condition of my own if the worst ever happened.. i see it as a safeguard thats as close as possible to regaining most of its value. if it got damaged and the insurance sent me a cheque for £6.5K i would be devastated for sure, although in my own opinion, a car can be replaced but each one has an individual soul and no 2 the same. there's no insurance for that though ?

agreed valuation requires 6 photos of the car from different angles, any documentation, receipts etc for parts , basically any information to support the total amount you are looking to insure the car for. You can get an independent valuation from the Zclub.net but you will need to be a subscribed member, not sure if anyone here in this club can do it. £15 a year to subcsribe to the Z club so not a lot really and you can be a member of both. service history also a bonus!

What did you do to your zed today?
im actually thinking of taking on the franchise myself. If all is worked out and its a viable business, then I'll change my job from underpaid and under appreciated truck driver to playing with Z parts all day.. Happy as a ? in ? with that result. Lol

What did you do to your zed today?
Sat around bored so decided to do a little job on the Z. Been meaning to change the badging, so went for it today. When i removed the metal Fairlady Z badges from the perspex strip, there was a ton of foamy sticky crud under it which peeled off the badges. So bust out the autoglym tar and varnish remover with a fair amount of worry as to wether it would damage the perspex. I used something similar on the old rear lights and it crazed everywhere spreading the classic creeping cracks! Anyhow, glad to report that this stuff didnt damage it and it worked a treat! Topped off with some autoglym glass polish to remove the mild bleaching effect of the sun and it came up perfect again and ready for the oem logo to be fitted. Applied the new oem decal and looks much cleaner now. So happy days! The next job for the girls backside is gonna take a while, but im sure it'll meet the approval of a fair few on here.. All will be revealed when its done

funny you should say that because i was actually talking to czp about a franchise here to cover europe and the uk.. Pretty sure that it would be a good move because a lot of people dont order from the usa because of the shipping and duty costs.. Businesses get a different rate if its goods to sell, so they may look in to it.. Also remember its also all Zs they cover plus infiniti models.. theres plenty of those around the uk and Europe

The big bad akebonos
Appreciate that andrew, thanks.. i have sent the templates pdf files to the wheel manufacturer and they have now given me suitable fitting instructions on wheel size and ET range. Also thanks for the information on the decals, quite interesting the differences between different models and markets. So it looks like mine being a jdm import, I'll be fitting just the nissan fairlady Z to the car.. just hoping the badges ive had on there havent left a fade mark otherwise it'll look a bit awful! Thanks again, appreciate your help

just as an update in the here and now, ive just insured mine with lancaster this year for £430 at 3k miles with agreed valuation of £25k. Hope to never have to use that valuation but after spending £30k on it, at least its a good representation and realistic with the fact I'll never get it all back! Adrian flux, i am dissapointed to say, decided to up my policy renewal by £200 for no apparent reason unless another years no claims bonus qualifies me to the special " pay 33% more " category? This was also still on 3k miles but with a £20k valuation... Not feeling like a valued customer after getting several quotes cheaper, some with better benefits and higher mileage allowance. Now having the cover at £35 cheaper than flux last year and without the extortionate increase, being the reason i wont be renewing with them.

weirdly i received the new nissan decals from japan and find that the two sides of the badging are different sizes? Is the twin turbo part of the lettering slightly larger than the nissan fairlady Z part on the left? I imagined that nissan wouldve made both sides the same size?
-
The big bad akebonos
Well, dont know whats going on with mine then! It was printed to scale 1:1 which is as it states and converts to "actual size" and the measurements are all over the place! Ive printed it 3 times and all are exactly the same? Whilst on the subject of size.... I bought a set of genuine nissan decals for the perspex strip on the boot lid and for some weird reason, the nissan fairlady z part is one size yet the twin turbo part seems to be slightly larger? Is this correct for the oem decals? Ive never really paid much attention to them but pretty sure nissan would keep the same size lettering for both sides of the panel wouldnt they?

The big bad akebonos
I actually spoke to driftworks today and gave them the details on the wheels for them to check against. I have to say after checking the templates out, they have an issue. Their measurements arent to scale and i have printed using both the phone and the pc set to 1:1 scale and the measurements are inaccurate by quite a margin! The scale is printed as stated on the instructions from the website. So fortunately i havent used these to check the fitment otherwise id be back at square one again lol. the 1st photo is the inch scale the 2nd is supposed to measure 66mm

Thanks andrew, i have already downloaded and printes rhe templates, however its pretty difficult to find a shop that sells wheels to be able to go there and test the templates. Not many shops actually have a good enough stock. Its unfortunate, but this is what i have found a lot. I was hoping to not have to change the wheels as a friend had a set of DS2 brakes fitted and has the same wheels and sizes as me, but the akebonos are slightly chunkier and therein lies the problem. Ive asked at czp and z1 if they have any suggestions for compatible wheels but not getting much back to be honest. So figured I'd ask if anyone else had fitted them and if so, what the dimensions of the wheels are. Particularly the barrel size is of interest as if i can know a definite size then i can use the other known dimensions of my rims to work it all out. I am happy to buy online, but obviously dont want to end up getting another set that wont go over the calipers. Ive looked at a lot of wheels but none seem to list the barrel sizes.. bit of a nightmare getting all the details together.. Google doesnt seem to be my friend on this one! Lol

The big bad akebonos
Hi all.. just wondering if anyone out there has fitted the CZP or Z1 Akebono big brake kit to their Z? Im having issues with wheel fitment for 18" rims, unfortunately my own 18" are just touching the caliper on the barrel of the wheel so obviously thats a no no.. If anyone out there has fitted these brakes, can you give me the details from your wheel setups? brand, sizes, et etc.. just want to get the brakes on and make sure i buy a set of wheels that fit rather than another set that dont lol.. gets expensive down that road haha anyway, any help or info will be much appreciated cheers!

What did you do to your zed today?
Well, been a while since I've been in here and i guess this post isnt so much what i did today, rather what ive been doing for the last year and a half! Lol. I will start by saying I'm much less heavy in the wallet, but far more invested in a car. Since buying the Z in 2014 both myself and my bank manager have been rather busy. After buying the car ive made the following improvements.. New set of 18" wheels Complete engine bay makeover New turbos fitted, twice! New injectors Ecu socketed and chipped Full stainless steel blue flame exhaust system All plenum deletes done Intake and intercooler hoses replaced with silicone and hard pipe upgrades Radiator replaced with new oem 3 piece stainless slam panel cover Every rubber seal on the entire car replaced with new oem 2 new interiors Brembo gtr r33 brake upgrade Full body respray in factory cherry pearl AH3 All new window rubbers and seals Full underbody protection undersealing done Impul rear bumper Nissan xtrail Rear fog lights fitted to impul bumper Full LED dashboard and control pod lighting conversion Zspec throttle spring covers Another new ecu chip! Never failed an mot in my ownership either, in fact even the MOT guy has asked how i manage to keep her as good as she is! But gone from someone elses car i bought to a lovely lady that i heavily invested in making my own car that i am very proud to own and drive! Being maintained by the best in the business too, and i owe a big thanks to jimmer at powerzed for the miracles he always achieves.. she drives like a dream since he has been under the bonnet and i couldnt and wouldnt recommend anyone else to look after a Z properly! She's even won some awards and trophies too! Still chasing that best in show trophy though! We can always dream huh! Lol She will always be the best in my show though! Happy Zedding folks and hope you're all well and keeping safe! Hope to see you at some shows when all this blows over!

RIP Mike Feeney of MJP
Mikes health ironically was improving and when i saw him at the halfway house the weekend before he died, he was looking extremely well, better than id ever seen him over the last few years! Sadly, the following friday he was found in his living room, sat in an arm chair and had suffered a heart attack. I got a call friday night to give me the news. Quite shocking to hear and even more of a shock as it was mikes phone that the call was made from. The meetings at the halfway house will continue. Definitely part of mikes legacy thay needs to be continued.. As everyine here has said, a great guy, a pillar in the Z world and the reason a lot of the older Z range are still alive and well. He was a good man, a good friend and will be sadly missed by all that knew him..

300zx.co.uk owners club Z32 30th anniversary gathering and AGM
Unfortunately i wont make it to the CandM as i have had 2 people book to view my house this morning so im planning to get to hotel around 2:30pm. What with all the work i was doing yesterday on the car, i left stuff everywhere and also nearly cut off a finger just before bed last night so tidying up is a little more difficult! Just in case, if anyone sees me holding my middle finger up, its because of the injury, not because im being an arse  Unless of course its the left one cos theres nothing wrong with that one

Well dropped the old girl off at the paintshop this morning and she is having the bits and bobs corrected. She should be back with me thursday morning! The scratches to the wing section caused by the council strimmer guy have already been corrected. Fortunately isnt costing a lot as the painter has some sympathy for me! Anyway, after dropping her off i went down to essex to look at another Z that im part buying and will be collecting it on saturday! Some new bits for me and the rest being forwarded on to the partner in the purchase. So, I'll update you when the parts have been transferred! All in all, not been a bad day at all!
