Road Tax going up 500%
As they say, journalists never let the truth stand in the way of a good story. Here is the original press release which is talking about adding one more band above the existing Band F. So not really "five-fold increase". And it only applies to new cars registered in 2001 or later so 300ZXs are unaffected. Dunno about imports since then, though. I should be more worried about this road pricing scheme though - sat tracked all the time? No ta...

Can you use LRP if you have DeCatted?
One of these device websites says: Yep that's correct. And then it says . "... alters the structure"? Hmmmm ... I am glad the manufacturers are offering a money back guarantee - and if there is any independent research on this type of device which proves an effect, I'd like to see it. But having had a good look, I can't find anything. The most likely reason for an improvement in fuel efficiency is that people who fit the device are expecting one and hence drive just a little bit more carefully (subconsciously) and look - better mpg! Or, they expect better power and use the loud pedal more. Here are a series of links http://www.asa.org.uk/asa/adjudications/Adjudication+Details.htm?adjudication_id=33701 http://www.fuelsaving.info/catalysts.htm (includes a test by Which? mag) http://www.fuelsaving.info/debunk.htm http://bbs.sidc.co.uk/messageview.cfm?catid=18&threadid=10420&STARTPAGE=2 http://www.volvoclub.org.uk/b21atips.shtml http://www.mgcars.org.uk/news/news170.html http://www.fbhvc.co.uk/fuel/index.htm#add

Can you use LRP if you have DeCatted?
There is absolutely no point in running LRP in your Zed. And since it is being withdrawn from the market anyway... Us old geezers who remember leaded petrol can tell you that leaded petrol came in several grades ** (two star) which was 94 octane *** (three star) = 96 octane **** (4 star) = 98 octane ***** (5 star) = 100 octane (see the pattern there?) 5 star got withdrawn in the (I think) 70s LRP is 97 octane. Optimax is 98 octane Fuel catalysts, magnetic or whatever can be found next to the snake-oil dispenser. To quote the RAC "Other methods of protection Avoid products that claim to provide protection based upon catalytic effects and magnetic devices, as there is no evidence of their having any effect and no theoretical reasons why they should have any effect." http://www.theaa.com/allaboutcars/fuel/LRP.html http://www.rac.co.uk/carcare/advice/general_help/lrp_phase_out Oh and the other reason for not using lead in petrol is that it causes brain damage. Cheers - Gio

In my opinion
That's potentially not quite right. If you bought it from a supplier located outside the UK, you might have problems with local warranty. But if you bought it from a UK company, then you have a legal warranty no matter where it was made.

What is faster?

Make St Georges day a holiday
You are! http://www.stgeorgesdayevents.org.uk/news_and_events.shtml The only problem with having a public holiday for it (which I agree we should have) is that it would not be on St George's Day. It would be on the nearest Monday which sort of takes the shine off it a bit. IMHO it would be much better if Public Holidays were on the right date.

Do you swing to the left or the right?
Though traitors flinch and cowards sneer, we'll keep the red flag flying here! 1) Very left wing and 2) bang in the centre. Gosh what fun, comrades.
