  1. Blimey - what an effect this forum has. First Wendy, now your gf. Anyone else been impregnated / done the impregnating while on this forum? Is that what they mean when they say "forum member" :) Anyhoo - congratulations again. :0 :)
  2. Yes FT, getting very warm. UK dash gauges are calibrated in psi. J-spec ones in x100mmHg (hundreds of mm of Mercury. One atmosphere or bar can support a column of mercury 750mm (from memory)) a converter is here (and it converts lots of other stuff too) http://www.convertit.com/Go/ConvertIt/Measurement/Converter.ASP Pressure UK spec J spec 0.48 bar = 7 psi = 3.6 100mmHg 0.6 bar = 8.7 psi = 4.5 0.62 bar = 9psi = 4.7 0.93 bar = 13.5psi = 7 1 bar = 14.5 psi = 7.5 x100mmHg = 750mmHg
  3. oooh no does this mean I have to junk my Mongoose and go back to stock? John, I 'd be very interested to see any further tech info on the point you raise. If it's easily found, that is.
  4. Thanks Chris C, that's better! On to the serious stuff - I'm concerned about this strike. Something's rotten in the state of Denmark. Can I start from my opinion that anyone who saves my life gets my vote and support for a decent wage. I include firefighters (even TopLess who have more Zs than me :) ) nurses, PCs, ATCs, all our forces. And any one I forgot. But how come the FBU leaders suddenly decided earlier this year that they were 40% behind where they should be? Were they asleep during the last 25 year's negotiations? Not very good performance for their members... I can't remember the last time any pay claim anywhere from any union in any country reached 40%. And I remember the last national FBU strike. So what idiot thought this was a "realistic" figure to go for? Someone somewhere is spoiling for a fight and I can't work out why :(
  5. sorry, mates & matesses - I've forgotten. Are we on topic or off topic by now?
  6. And just becos I liked your jokes James / John... http://www.dynopower.freeserve.co.uk/homepages/amazing_pictures/policecar_f15.jpg
  7. and hahahahaha top sense of humour, supra bloke :) Also what a pleasure to read balanced opinion froman owner of a car not a ZX. Sometime this place descends into yar boo sucks my car's better than your car chiz chiz which is uterly boring and wet and weedy. Trey's piece also nice one. Just to add my 2p it always seemed to me that Supras were "US muscle car flavor" and 300ZXs were "Euro supercar flavour". This doesn't make either inherently better than the other - just a choice of approaches. Whatever floats your boat. Even though I'm as pleased as a thing which is very pleased indeed with my Z (over 3 years now), if I had to choose between a doggy or unknown SH Z and a good Supra, I'd take the Soup. Hope you find a good car whatever the make. (Just one last thought - have you thought about an earlier Z - say a 260Z or 240Z? Mucho cheaper, great street cred and top performance and a nice club to help. Then later on when you've got more wonga, get a 300 / Soup?)

Have some info on what chassis numbers begin with. It sdoes look as if US VINs are different. EG Mine starts GCZ32. http://www.netcomuk.co.uk/~webster/gio/chassisnos.html From inspection, I think yours is an RZ24 so that bit looks OK. Ask Nissan US?
  9. Damn - AndyP got there first. Quite right - IK Brunel deserves to head the poll so keep voting guys. I used to be quite a monarchist but the Di fiasco turned me into a republican. Not so much the Royals but more the class-ridden flunkey-dom of chinless wonders that think that they are better than us just because their ancestors were bigger bastards than anyone else. The next time some upper class twit patronises me, I think I'll be tempted to do something non-Buddhist. All men are born equal and everywhere are in chains.
  10. That'll be a handy one for the reference links page when it arrives.
  11. Oooh looky here http://www.motuk.co.uk/manual_730.htm This claims to be a site which has the MOT structure / pass / fail etc. Can any MOT tester confirm whether this is correct? If so it would be useful for us to check on MOT stuff. If its right it looks as if HC is Hydrocarbons.

Astron - check out these buyers guides http://www.300zx.org.uk/tech_20.htm some of them are even from US guys! :) If the Zs been well looked after, you should be fine. If you're a mechanical whizkid, the buyer's guides should help. If not, contact your local Zclub, or forum or whatever to see if you can find a helpful owner to check out your prospective purchase. Good luck - Gio

Some ideas here http://www.motorzone.com.au/tech4.htm and here http://www.300zx.org.uk/tech_17.htm :D
  14. No that would be PC, surely? :) Hydrocarbons, maybe?
  15. I concur with these suggestions - ZoneAlarm has good reviews and the inbuilt one in XP is as good as you'd expect from those b*stards in Seattle. Not very. As an alternative, I use Norton everything - so it does firewall, antivirus, security and other stuff. Seems to keep itself updated OK and - touch wood - my mini network is OK so far. (Used to use McAfee, then went to Norton/Symantec, had lousy tech support so went back to McAfee, found their tech support and product had got way worse so went back to Norton.....)

That's one damn cool shiny finish there. Nice job :)
  17. OK, I'm confused now - are you claiming to be perfect or cool? Not that I mind, it's just that as a good buddhist, I want to get it straight in my mind otherwise i will never attain nirvana.
  18. coool - goes next to my acre of moon!
  19. Perhaps he meant attest or even affirm? (and if anyone does a little bit of attesting does that make him/her an attesticle?)
  20. IIRC (cos it was several minutes ago, you know) Sitting In My Chair With Tears Rolling Down My Cheeks Laughing. (I'm too old to ROF without a blonde to assist) In view of the tossingly funny page perhaps I should have added CFFPT
  21. f*ckin funny, that :) SIMCWTRDMCL
  22. Oh Lord, bless this thy holy master cylinder, that the calipers being mighty in thy sight may grip the discs. Will this do, Andy? I'm more used to chanting Ommmmmmmmmmmmm
  23. http://www.aus300zxclub.com/tech/lights.htm http://www.300zx.org.uk/tech_17.htm Now say "Thank you AndyP" :)
