Colours, Colours, Colours...
I had a Capri (sorry) in metallic graphite grey and very nice it looked in the sun too. I've seen Zeds in this colour and think it's terrific. But of course, silver is the best colour. And not all of them are gay :)

Brunel rules - or at least, should
hehehe steam powered Zed, now there's a thought :) It's been an interesting thread - what's more important: ideas? music? words? actual real things? Whatever you think, it's probably true to say that all of these things are affected by the physical context in which they occur. It would be difficult to imagine the Beatles in a "Nazified" Britain (the Nazis banned jazz as "decadent" - what on earth would they have thought of the Sex Pistols?). So Churchill's actions as well as words gave us the ability to enjoy the Beatles and Shakespeare and so on. BTW did you know that Brunel also invented the shape of the traditional English saloon bar, made GMT necessary and built a railway that sucked?!

Body Kit Web site's
Although not an MOT bloke (where's PaulC when you need him) it appears from the online MOT manual on tyres you don't need to have a spare to pass the test and even if it is dodgy, you won't fail. Can anyone in the real world confirm / deny? Cheers - Gio

Brunel rules - or at least, should
Careful Nelson, he didn't say that having J Lennon on the list shows what a shallow etc. He said that having R Williams and V Beckham on the list showed etc etc. Probably right. And yes, the Fab Four did make a National Contribution - but was theirs in the same league as (say) saving the UK and probably Europe and maybe even US from the Nazis? Probably not. They're probably as important in music as Shakespeare is to English but neither did something that ensured the survival of their nation. And both should have come ahead of the blonde bimbo.

Brunel rules - or at least, should
Brave effort by that Alan wotsisname to push for John Lennon. But even as a registered ex-hippy, I don't think he's as Great-Briton-ish as (say) Churchill. BTW his full name was actually John Winston Lennon until he got involved with that youwling Japanese banshee and changed it to John Ono Lennon. Not many people know that. Still, if Brunel had to lose out, at least it was to Churchill and not that upper class twit.

NZR : After an MP3 player
Yeah - my mate's just got an iPod and he is mucho impressed (he has a track record of being very very gadget techy). But for me, for gym work, I would avoid any HDD-based player - just in case. Hairsy - have you got any other gadget which uses solid state memory - eg Memory Stick or SSD or Compact Flash or whatever else it is called these days? The point being is that if you have a camera or PDA, you might as well choose an MP3 player which uses the same type of memory. Cheers - Gio

Nissan dealers....pah!
Yet again, the man's right (must be all that clean living up a bloody mountain what does it :) ) I have heard that Nissan Motor GB sometimes do wade in on the side of the customer when dealers take the mickey. Also the dealer will be a member of one of the trade bodies - complain to them at the same time. But not all dealers are this bastardly - my local one is fine. (Dan Perkins in Slough - free plug but won't get me any discount). Not perfact but quite adequate and they do have a couple of Zed specialists. Good luck - don't let them get away with it. Cheers - Gio

engine mis-fire
Just a thought- have you cleaned the throttle bodies? When they're full of cr*p you get rough running at low revs / tickover. The reference is on AndyP's page somewhere. HTH - Gio

The FireFighters Strike!
Mark - I should know by now "never believe what you read in the newspapers!" ;) I don't question the justness of the cause, I am just deeply worried / cynical about the tactics and rhetoric which are being used. Cheers - Gio

Volcanos & ZXs
according to this site , Mt Fuji is a pukka volcano so certainly does count. So that's 5......

Volcanos & ZXs
I was about to post this question here when I realised it might be a hijack so started this one. This forum may be the most volcano-related forum of any car forum. So far we know that 4 members have a volcano link: jaylox - getting married in Hawaii (where I met Lee Marvin but that's a different story) BigRoy - married in St Lucia darkman2 - him and his Z live in Montserrat me - saw my first pyroclastic flows in Montserrat in September Come on guys & gals - who else has a volcano link?
-
turkey im getting married 2
congrats, jaylox - is that to the stunner you brought down to the 5 Bells? (lucky lucky b'stard) Hawaii, eh - ok that's two of us travelling to volcanic islands & darkman2 lives on one. Anyone else? Cheers - Gio

The FireFighters Strike!
Can I start by repeating that I think the Firefighters should be paid more. But there are a couple of points. Many fires are caused by people's stupidity - so they are the ones putting their lives at risk. The firefighters then risk their own lives in order to rescue idiots. It's true that withdrawing cover increases the risk to people but if people were more careful, there wouldn't be the risk in the first place. That's one The 2nd is that I went past a Fire Station today and there was some, how shall I put it, selective reporting of some facts (not criticising - there is a propaganda battle between employees / employers so just accept this). One poster has moved me to comment. It said £22,000 after 20 years. Which is only partially true. A firefighter who passed probation today would indeed get £22k - like any colleague of that rank. But in 20 years time, they would not just be on £22k - they would have had 20 years of pay rises. The 3rd and last is that - according the the Grauniad who generally support left wingers, unions, socialism and all that stuff - the current starting salary is £21,531. In New York, the starting salary is £20,749. After a 2 year pay battle (no striking and being without contract for 2 years) they just agreed a starting salary of £22,803 (10% rise). Oh and one last thing, I am wrinkly enough to remember the last a Labour government got into a battle with the unions. This led to 19 years of Tory misrule - schools funding slashed, NHS deeper in the mire, no infrastructure spending, crap roads and - to nick another thread - a society where the youngsters have grown up with the Thatcherite message of greed, look out for No1, no respect for others etc etc. Please buddha don't make the same mistake twice. (and they still deserve more money - just I think their leadership worries me).

First Time Buyer
Sounds like a Zed, then :D No but seriously, folks, I reckon if you're looking for a track day tool, whatever you get will need more dosh spent on upgrades, maintenance than a non-track day car. If you like the RWD experience, then you'll have to go a long way to beat the Z. Lurk through here and there are a lot of threads on insurance, running costs and so on. Another site with buyers guides and excellent all-round info is http://www.300zx.org.uk Also make sure to come to a meet if there's one you can get to - you'll see a good selection of cars and members (ooer) and in any gathering of n forum members you will always find n+1 opinions! lol

finally tieing the knot next year
Bit drastic but good result! Congratulations :D :) Going to use the Zed on the day?

Cars which the zed should be cautious of....
Shouldn't worry too much about them - if the *ahem* test lasts for more than a few minutes, they'll be ringing for the AA and you'll be off into the middle distance :)

Byo or Girl
Carry on like this, matey and it'll be back to Master exPedant or Miss exPedant. Ajay will have to be Godmother (or should that be Gothmother). Don't risk the Dead Pedant sketch "This Pedant is no more..." :)
