  1. I am still shocked even to this day that any mechanic would take the credit for a vehicle like this.
  2. So after a long long while. The car is almost done. Sills were rotten so bad after having them cut out i could see the inside of car. Thats now fixed and car is fully resprayed. Suspension was also rotten with springs starting to break while the car was still parked. All replaced with adjustable ones. All brake calipers had atleast one piston on them siezed. Even the rear subframe had to be replaced as it was not salvageable. And for the engine.... cracked piston, worn piston rings, worn crank bearings both main and conrod ones, one turbo had to be rebuilt, leaking power steering pump, clutch even tho still gripping, was worn to half a mil from limit. Surprisingly the car still ran and actually ran well not taking the smoke into consideration. If i knew what I was walking into i would have rather shot myself in a leg. But thats another UK zed saved. Pics to follow eventually
  3. Unfortunatelly mine are broken because of rust. Straight through :( so rebuilding is not an option.
  4. So, my stock recirculating valves are shot now. What options do i have? Can i get stock ones at a decent price? Any particular aftermarket ones i can go with? I would prefer staying with recirculating valves as i have no interest in the sound. Any suggestions guys?
  5. Sorry for the confusion. There probably are no solenoids and sensors lol. I have no ways of checking as the car is 2 timezones away. Thanks for your help guys its a lot more clear now
  6. Was there some a case of some kind of clever headlights that dim themselver according to how bright it is outside? My machanic is saying there are selenoids in my headlights. They are 1990 uk spec ones
  7. Anyone have a good u joint for sale? Or can is there an equivalent/upgraded one i could fit off another vehicle?
  8. Thanks. I will see what happens
  9. I am replacing my rear lower arms with driftworks ones. ARB libks mounting point is slightly off and if installed like this it will be on tension all the time, anyone ever dealt with this before? Any ideas?
  10. Hi, I am looking for 2x lower differential stoppers (55475-33P00) and both rear brake dust shields in good condition.
  11. Looking for a TT rear subframe in very good condition. No rust prefered and all bushes intact. Let me know what you have.
  12. Need the big one covering the sump. Does anyone have one in good condition or a new one? Does it even exist i cant find photos online
  13. Both front wings. Colour does not matter. Have to be structuraly perfect and not jacked up. Front wiper linkage in very good condition Driver door window linkage and motor. 2x headlight washer covers. Let me know what you have and what you want for them
  14. No luck. tried on win8 64bit both usb2 and usb3 still drops connection. Any ideas?
  15. I can see the adapter on device manager as com4. And no problems show up. Leds on the cable stay green. It connects to the car reads the ecu and then drops connection. It is weird. I will try on a more powerful laptop when i get home today. I am suspecting usb port might not be powerful enough. See where i go from there. I dont use adapter for anything else as delphi works on usb port
  16. I am having problems with my conzult. I have a genuine cable but it does not want to comunicate to the ecu for some reason. It connects and then loses connection. I tried conzult, nissan scantech and datascan and they all act same. I am trying to read original non papped ecu. cable is com so i am using a brand new adapter from maplin on laptop running windows 7. Am i missing anything? Does it not work on win7 and i should get xp? I have no problems running delphi diagnostics on the laptop. unfortunately no support for 300zx.
  17. There is a uk tt 300zx at local metal scrapyard so all parts are dirt cheap. no panels are worth attention maybe just bumpers and bonnet but it was flipped by someone and smashed the windscreen. I will be going back there in two days or this sunday depending on circumstances. for the prices it is more than reasonable. i got all 6 injectors including fuel rail for 15quid. ecu+ptu+uk clocks for 30quid. rear lights with middle panel for 20quid. so if you need anything let me know and i will get them for you while i am there. i will charge what they charge me+postage. all parts will be unchecked and strictly no return. this is a non profit sale.
  18. Sorry for misunderstanding it is blue smoke. It is oil. Wouldnt valve seals smoke on startup? I have done a compression test myself. With a brand new tool. I did notice a bit of sludge gathering in pcv hoses after a couple months of running but i put it down to short distance driving.
  19. So the zed is still off road. Still smokes on deceleration when warm only. No smoke on startup or when engine is cold, only starts smoking after 5-10mins of running. Things done: Whole new PCV system. OEM pcv valves and new silicone hoses from zcentre. I did swap restrictors on to the new hoses. Compression test and leakdown test was done with very good results. Changed oil to 10w40 semi synthetic. Checked the turbos both sides, no sign on oil and no side movement on the shaft at all just a slight in and out movement but i believe that is normal. all intake hoses checked. No sign of oil in hoses higher. Slight amount of oil down near the intercooler which i cleaned out now. Changed intercoolers. All that oil that was in the previous thread photos came from a leaking power steering which is rectified now. I was surprised how two points of leak on it basically covers the whole engine. What else am i missing? I just want to go and enjoy my car
  20. I came accross a very interesting twin turbo setup. Anyone seen this before what are the pros of running like this?
  21. Since it was a nice day I went outside after work and done a compression test. Cylinder 1 : 155/160 Cylinder 2 : 145/155 Cylinder 3 : 160/160 Cylinder 4 : 140/145 Cylinder 5 : 160/160 Cylinder 6 : 150/155 First value is dry test, second is wet test. It looks like piston rings are doing their job very well. and compression is high enough. Should i be concerned about cylinder 4 being lower than others or would that still be acceptable? What do you guys think?
  22. I have never mentioned a rebuilt engine i said a secondhand engine. I am well aware what is on the car at this point. Rebuilt turbos is i meant i bought them now to replace the ones that are on. And advisory was on brake discs. Which i was given by previous owner anyway. The boost the car is running is 11psi and it did hold it steady. I will try doing the compression test again but as i said it was done with the leakdown test about 4months ago and came back very good. I dont remember the actual values. And the PCV system was changed with brand components - - - Updated - - - I have never mentioned a rebuilt engine i said a secondhand engine. I am well aware what is on the car at this point. 23. I bought the zed back in august. I came here to say hello promised pictures but never did that. To be honest i only made a handful of photos on my iphone during the time and that was it. So originally this had a new second hand engine back in 2014 June if i remember correctly with rebuilt turbos and a fresh MOT. It was running great except for a slight blue smoke on gear changes. I was told by previous owner that it must be oil in exhaust from the last turbos, so since it was running good i assumed that was it. But it never stopped, just kept getting worse. So i changed PCV valves with new hoses, done a compression test all good leakdown test good as well, intake hoses clean of oil. So i kept driving it looking embarrasing. Tried to use my other cars whenever I could. Now the more I look into it the more dodgy the car looks to me. I was promised fresh engine which has a knock if i don't run it for a couple days coming from top so i assume it will be valve tappets. Turbos that are allegedly rebuilt that smoke and to add to it was all 4 brake calipers siezed which made me think how it passed the MOT. So i moved house a month ago and the car started misfiring which was a last drop for me. And since i dont live on a 3rd floor anymore and i have a driveway i got a hold of car ramps. What i found left me shocked. Those are both turbos with oil all over them. And that is the actual zed and its heart. Devil in disguise. So i bought second hand turbos that have no play at shafts at all. have been rebuilt by turbo technics some time ago but very low mileage. So i am on a mission to get them changed with engine still inside. I know it is a mission i have seen it. But i heard stories it was done. That will be where I start and I have a feeling this is going to be a lenghty project. Any tips are welcome. and i will keep you updated with as much information as i can provide
  24. Feels good to be noticed. The car runs like crap at the moment. Burning oil and started a slight misfire. Will have to go off the road soon. Compression is ok, Leakdown test good, not a single drop of oil in intake, and changed all PCV valves and hoses. Guess the next step will have to be strip down.
