You hould feel alot more comfy in the zed,I find that mR2's are a bit twitchy, wheras a zed being bigger and heavier is alot more stable. But when you throw you zed around for the size of it you'll be amazed at how well it sticks. Having said that I went from an Astra GTE cabriolet to a zed, which wont be the same as a MR2 to a zed, but my brother had a UK non turbo MR2 which I borrowed often so im not completley clueless. I remember a good comparison made by John Newcomb (a former 300zx'er) who said the ZX was like riding on the back of a tiger, but the MR2 was like trying to hang on to its fcuking tail!!!! I dont think the zed will dissapoint you.:D Post a piccy when you get it.

Stu, im not sure of the pump prive at the time you did this, but basing your fill up on being £50 at a pump price of 79.9ppl your mpg for that 320 mile journey is 23.22 Sorry to be the bearer of bad news!!:( To find mpg you take your price, divide it by your pump price, then divide it by 4.54 to get your fill up in gallons, you then take your miles covered and divide it by the amount of galons. eg. 5000 (cos its in pence) div by 79.9 = 62.57litres 62.57 div by 4.54 = 13.78 gallons 320 miles div by 13.78 gals = 23.22 mpg I spent too long working in a petrol station!!!;)

Indeed it sounds 99% like its your speed sensor, will cost you less than £100 to get a new one fitted, but first check all the wires on the bottom are ok, as they get VERY close to the exhaust and sometimes melt and or break. Pic below of speed sensor location.

If your accelerator is stuck down that would do it but youd notice that i bet!!!;) First try giging the dash a wack, if not you may have to take it apart if the needle is proper jammed, if you do this be careful, they break easy!! Good luck.

Working on that £10 of petrol being pump priced at 79.9ppl you are doing 18.18 miles per gallon, thats pretty average to be honest, if you ease up on her a bit you may well find you can get it into the twenties!

£5k should find a good one but look hard, be careful at some dealer/ importers. Buy private you are likeley to save money, but look carefully. MPG can be as low as 11 on short cold runs but as good as nearly 30 on a nice steady run. Servicing wise after owning mine a year I worked out the cost of keeping mine on the road (excluding tax insurance petrol etc) and ive had nothing major go wrong like turbos or serious engine stuff(touch wood!!) and its cost me more or less dead on a grand to for maintinence, so at £20 a week I cant complain!! One thing that helps service wise is that the plugs last 60k so you only need to do oil and filters on a regular basis, oil probably every 3 to 4k miles filters every other oil change. With zeds if you look after them they generally look after you, dont maintain them and theyll empty your wallet!!!
