  1. or just pull it out slightly. The pump head is sealing too tight in your zed and as the fuel gos in the air can not escape so forces the pump into thinking your car is full.
  2. Guys, im looking at getting (another...long story!) faulty laptop of ebay for use as a carputer. Ive found one that looks ideal but he says that it wont charge a battery and thats the only fault. THing is im planning on running it from the cars power anyways most of the time but need some battery power just to shut the laptop down after i leave the car. WOuld it be possible to charge the laptop battery directly off the car and bypass the laptop circuits? or maybe charge the laptop battery every so often in the house say? Cheers all
  3. Look very nice considering what you payd for them!
  4. mines due next month to! Think i might have a snagg, just got a bad feeling emissions, trying to find a "friendly" local ;-)
  5. middle pic certainly makes them look big enough IMHO. Good going mate, hope they run well for you
  6. us and uk octane is worked out differently, although i was driving a 5.7l v8 suburban this time last year and paying ALOT less for gas out there, but 87 octane did make me laugh
  7. i wont be going with adrian flux again as it seems alot of people get lower policy costs than myself, although i do use my car everyday so have to have around 10k milage wise.
  8. Wouldnt have said Jap spec were better than uk as its more an individual car by car basis thing. As for insurance it really changes company to company, adiran flux told me it made no differncfe if it was an import or not on my policy (and i drive a uk car!) The best thing insurance weise is just keep chipping away until you find a good price in my experiance. As for the cars they are almost the same with some very subtle differences (folding mirrors, no diff oil cooler, slight different auto box functions being the main ones on the japspec ones.)
  9. Really nice to see someone trying something different with a zed. Seen lots of JWT stuff on here but be very interested to see how your car runs with this setup.
  10. front arnt worth going any wider than 235 really (tyre size). As for the rears people are using lots of different sizes, im using 265 and they give a decent level of grip in the dry and wet without too much ill handling. Only thing to note really is the wider the rear wheels (in particular) the more of a tracking tendancy to the left you will have because of the camber of the road. HTH
  11. Such a shame as it would be a nice upgrade instead of just an auto-man conversion. Never mind
  12. What do we think the total cost of this job might be?
  13. And i thought i was bored!
  14. autobox takes 8.7litres think its dexron III. No idea if the jspec box takes different to uk but id be supprised if it did
  15. Good idea, but screw the bad sellers IMHO, i managed for years on ebay buying and selling, but recently things do seem to have taken a turn downhill! If they want a right to reply surly they just need to register here and then they could post to defend themselves! We are (afterall!) entitled to express our opinions, so should be safe from libel action
  16. higher octane is MORE resistant to Det
  17. There was a guy a few years ago that did this and there was a huge outcry and he was sentanced to either life (or maybe death cant remember fully), yet this doesnt seem to have had the same impact. F*^king apauling and she should be used for medical research!!
  18. What he said. Would have to be a huge jump in octane before you noticed any real power difference at the wheels. If i remember rightly even Avgas (aircraft fuel for pistons) is only 110 RON. Its more about avoiding Det and the additives to keep things lean than just octane=power
  19. Chip, Profec B, Apexi filter and free flow exhausts (from as far forward as you can get, ie downpipes back plus bin the cats if your sure the car is golden!) Any spare cash keep for a rainy day!
  20. Yes im disputing £87 atm. I payed for a laptop off a guy and it just hasnt arrived! he claimed that it was sent 2nd jun and that royal mail must have lost it! Either way i want my damn money back and if the paypal dispute doesnt work i will paying him a visit to get my £87 back. Not a huge amount of cash but its the damn principle of it, ebay used to be more like a forum attitude with no worrys, but some people just want to take advantage! Take them all down IMHO
  21. Pretty much as in the title really, just want to catch anyone before i start working out the payments. Cheers andy http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=74350
  22. looks like its going well mate! found this link which contains a lacquer that should do. I was thinking of getting bit creative and doing wheel spokes black and keep the rim chrome/silver http://www.autopia-carcare.com/realwhda.html Photoshopping my ideas first though as im no chip foose
  23. Sorry all, im probably worst offender for this, im just too stuipid
  24. The chrome on my alloys is showing its age and looking pretty ropey. Im thinking about getting the kerbed rims fixed (maybe do it myself what do you think?) and then spraying the center of my 5spokes black and keeping a chromed ring. Thing is ive never done this before, so guessing its not just a case of sanding down the 5 spokes then hamerite-ing them? Is this feasible job to do myself?
  25. thanks guys, and new ones the way forward or it ok to get some from guys breaking their zeds?
