If anyone spots a blue metallic punto with a bitch driving in it...
I was driving behind a woman in a punto that kept slowing down and speeding up. She hit a lorry tyre in the middle of the motorway, it flew up from her wheel straight into my front end, smashed up the side of the car over the top of my roof and behind my car. I slammed on the hazards, she looked up, saw what she'd done and accelerated hard without stopping to see if i was alright?

Yep, she looked up, saw it'd hit mine then put her foot down before i could take down her number plate. I had my hazards on as soon as it happened so she couldn't have missed it

v8 engine in a Z
Strangely enough i've got a spare racing chevy small block from a lemans car this week which wouldn't take much to get it running again. I also have a front subframe ready to accept a chevy and a rear prop ready to get converted. All in all including the engine and the bits to finish it off i'd say you could do a pretty decent job for just under £3000 including all the bits and pieces to get it hooked up and be pulling about the 350-400bhp mark pretty reliably. Then bolt on goodies later on would push you over the 500bhp mark. Chevy engine's are very easy to get big bhp off and add nitrous and you're talking silly numbers. You can use a World Class Borg Warner T5 gearbox off an sierra/tvr then use the ford clutch plate and chevy flywheel/bellhousing. I'm using a tremek tk500 box but only as that's been built to take 500bhp and 500ft/lb of torque but the WC T5 should take close to that, very good gearboxes. If you want a chat, give me a bell on 07791 210051 after 5pm most evenings and i'll explain what's involved

The fact i had my targas off and saw the truck tyre whizz past my head within a foot was the scariest part!

...please kindly ram her off the road  She very nicely decided to chuck a truck tyre at the front of my car at 70mph on the M1 ripping my bumper off and cracking my wing. She then proceeded to drive off at an advanced rate. Needless to say i'll be ringing the police tomorrow :slap:

Progress on the V8 project
Cheers buddy, got alot of fabbing to do before i can get the bugger in but it was either swap the front subframe and steering rack then reweld the sump and mounting brackets OR reweld the manifolds and repipe the steering rack. Not too much left though :hyper:

help with intake manifold removal
Always good to hear of another escaping the scrapper :D If you're going all the way down to the block you may as well pull the engine. I can get the intake manifold off in about 30 mins but to get the head off as well you're talking about a fair bit of work just to get to it especially the pipes going everywhere on the block.

Progress on the V8 project
Well I haven't really had a lot to write about or show piccy's of for a while now but things are finally moving  Bought a new compressor last week and ordered the bearings which were the two things holding me up. I finished gapping the rings and cleaning the pistons ready for the build which was the last job to do and was reasonably easy. They're all nice and tidy wrapped up in brown paper numbered up sitting in a box. I've made a change in the way i'm mounting the engine. The previous owner had made his own custom subframe and the steering rack had been stripped of all its pipes. Great idea but nightmare in practice when it came to getting the pipes made up to connect up SO paid a visit to slick pete's this weekend and grabbed keith5700's old subframe which means mounting the engine slightly higher in the engine bay but keith is going to adapt the air cleaner to fit. I need to modify the engine mounts slightly to fit but it should all go in nicely. The only last thing to do is make the sump fit the custom manifolds which is a frigging nighmare but luckily i've made friends with gelscoe motorsport who i'll be passing on the old sump with a cardboard layout for what i need welding up and fingers crossed get that made up in the next two weeks. SO just the last bit of cleaning the block to do, put in the crank and pistons ready to trasnport over then it's out with the engine hoist, some ramps and we're ready to drop the engine in. I'm aiming as much as i can to get the car on the road for the 1st of august - wish me luck!!! :mac1:

Just bought me one of these...

Huge Thanks To Slick Pete

I couldn't make it and couldn't drop a message on the board as my phone went dead last night :( Had alot of work to do on the V8 today in preparation for the engine going in in the next 2 weeks.

It'll sit just over the custom dash in the centre section as per the photo below (keith had one in place before he sold it to me but had replaced it with a temp gauge so i'll swap them back) Basically takes the guess work out of tuning the carburettor up, change the jet, try the gauge to see if it's rich/lean then look on the chart which jet to move to. So much easier than fiddling around guessing it :D

MOT Booked!
We'll get it sorted dave, Eliza will be on the road again shortly :D

MOT Booked!
Ther offer is always there buddy. Just need help getting the hoist over after squeezing it in the metro last time  I've never done an engine pull on a zed but i've stripped the engine bay down a couple of times so shouldn't be too bad Do the turbos need doing for the retest or do we have a bit of time so i can get the v8 done? :D

Wacko Jacko
Such a weird eccentric little man, the way he turned out was more than likely due to his dad treating him the way he did through his childhood. We'll never know exactly what happened to him over the years but he was a legend. An amazing back catalogue of albums and some awesome songs. Not many people like him come to this world, very gifted but also cursed with the way he was. Poor guy, rest in peace MJ :(

Oi shut it you

When in doubt...
PMSL :D I looked at the redtop batteries like jaffas for weight saving but they were still 25kg and £320 and not so compact for a 6+ litre engine. It's mounted on the passenger side of the boot to balance the weight of the driver in the front so should make handling a bit more even. There's no way it would ever fit in the front

MOT Booked!
Pass or fail??!?!?!??!?!?!!?!?!??

When in doubt...
FPMSL  I've used halfrauds batteries in the past and I have to be honest they're not bad really. Not bad at all actually £99 from a 6.1 litre jeep cherokee! :D

Install - BBK, Coilovers, etc, etc
That does look f***ing awesome :D

When in doubt...
...buy the biggest f***ing battery you can :D :smash: If 16 inches of 800 cold cranking amps doesn't start a 6.3 litre i don't know what will
