1. It's a 1969 Chevy Camaro 350 Block bored from a 5.7 and stroked up to 6.3 litres :D Can't wait myself now, it just looks awesome in the engine bay  Definately mate, I should have all the gauges and interior back in by then :D Oi i'm going as fast as i can! :slap:
2. Cheers guys, i'm the most impatient person in the world so feeling so relieved the wait is nearly over. It's taken ages longer than i hoped but i've done it all as best i can so i don't have to do it all over again later on!
3. Cheers buddy :D Well talking of setbacks the engine would have been in tonight if it hadn't been for the fact i'd forgotten to put the three oil galley plugs in the front of the block :headvswal Queue me stripping the whole block all the way down again this morning! Took till 4pm to get the whole thing ready for the gearbox, ah well it could have been worse it could have been in!
4. Well after 7 months the engine is finally ready to go in! :nana2: So there it is ready for tomorrow, pumps and belts on, everything sealed and torqued up, the gearbox is on and everything is hooked up ready for the lift into the car. Night night engine, see you in the morning! :D
5. Great work buddy, amazing how much difference the 99 spec lights make isn't it?
6. My favourite:
7. Pulleys and belts on as planned :D Bit of polishing work and one bolt hole to tap and bolt up but apart from that ready to go: Tomorrow, the crank spiggot bearing arrives and i can finally get the gearbox on then it's time to put the whole lot in the car! :D
8. Coolios, i love these cars. Very nearly bought one recently :D
9. Cheers buddy, it's a great garage and nice and warm too so trying to get as much done each night as possible. I was in there till midnight last night  Fixed my 1 tonne engine hoist which is very useful, i was given it broken a couple of months ago. All it was was the hydraulic oil was empty. Filled it up and shazam all working again :D Still trying to work out how i'm going to get the engine with gearbox on the back onto the subframe then slide it under the car without a tray. i need some wheels really It's either that or connect the gearbox onto the engine under the car but that's going ot be a total ball ache without a pit to work in. Might get the pick axe out this weekend....
10. Cheers guys :D lol, you must be joking  It's all brand new leather as well it's only had my bum on the seats while i was stripping the dash out. Smells sooooooo nice :D
11. That's great work Andy, well done mate :D
12. Sorry for the delay in updating you what's going on guys. Basically i've moved house rather suddenly, i popped a picture up recently of the new garage, it's brilliant. 35 foot long, double garage and lighting/heating. Makes life easier, i've got more done this last week than i have in 3 months of working at my parents house in the odd hour when i pop round :nana2: So where to start, so i've stripped down and cleaned all the metal particles from the block, torqued up the crank, pistons and conrods. The windage tray is all beaten to shape and lock tighted on. I've now fitted and torqued down the sump in place. Timing the cam was the hardest part, I used the "inline centre method". Each cam comes with a card where it says what the distance in degrees is between the TDC (top dead centre) of the piston and inlet valve on cylinder one. Turn the crank till the piston is at the top of the cylinder using a clock gauge, then attach the degree wheel to the front, make a pointer from a piece of clothes hanger and point it to 0 degrees. I used a cigar tube to rest on top of the cam, put the clock gauge on top and turned the crank, you see the clock gauge spin round as the lobe comes to its peak, as it stops, turn it 2 spins round on the gauge either way, mark the two degrees and divide by 2 to get the "intake centre line" in this case it should have been 106 degrees. It wasn't, bloody american engineering :headvswal 102 degrees Luckily i bought a 9 keyway sprocket set so off everythingcame, adjusted it to 2 degrees retarded to knock it down which then came up at 104 degs. Nearly there, retarded it a further 2 degrees and i get 111 degs! :headvswal Now the keyways are off as well, bloody things. Went on desktop dyno and input all the different timing configurations. The torque and power curves stretched further and peaked higher as i moved it to 111 degrees so that's how it's going to stay. In fact comp cams advance the timing by 4 degrees to 106 from 110 in the factory so in reality i've only retarded the cam by 1 degree. Yes my head was spinning after all that maths too  The software reckons 420bhp and 480ftlb of torque at 4000rpm and 400ftlb at 2000rpm which is good enough for me. So onto the rest of the build. Timing cover went on, end float on the cam was adjusted and the flywheel went on, i shimmed the starter motor to fit and then last night started work polishing up the pulleys and fitting them. Ordered the missing crank spiggot bearing to accept the ford gearbox and then the gearbox will go on friday night. Engine WILL be going in this weekend! :hyper: Now for some pics:
13. Hope everything works out for riddick buddy, it's a pretty standard op and he'll be back to himself quicker than you'll think :D
14. That's great news buddy! :)
15. I bought an apple power mac 2.3 dual core with 23 cinema display for £2500 about 3 and a bit years ago. Absolutely flawless then it went bang. Took it in and it turned out it was a product recall on the power supply even though it was out of warranty they replaced it. £250 saved! After that it had an intermittent problem of not starting on the button every time and you had to leave it unplugged for ten minutes before you switched on. Took it back in and they said that because it was something they'd done wrong they repair it free of charge! A week came and went and i got a phonecall: "Mr Tandy?" "Speaking" "This is Richard, the manager of the apple shop in leicester" "Oh hi!" "I've got some terrible news for you but hopefully some good news too" "Oh crap, really? What's happened" "Your mac was on the workbench being repaired, all the drives had been taken out and stored in our safe when the air conditioning pipe overhead leaked and flooded your box" "Oh crap, but my data's safe though?" "Yes, no need to worry but because of the age of your mac obviously you know that we've moved to intel now right?" "Yep, i missed the change by a couple of months" "Well to repair yours is going to be too uneconomical so what we'd like to offer you is a twin processor, 2.4 quad core with 2 gig of ram and a 300gig drive plus of course your drive and apps all reinstalled" STUNNED SILENCE "I think i could live with that yes(!)" lol When i turned up at the shop everyone knew who i was and got me a seat, did i want a coffee while i waited and then lent me a trolley to get it to the car! F***ing brilliant customer service, best in the industry methinks :D
16. Great photos and have to agree with andy, lovely looking zed :D
17. I'd go for Plexyglass myself, stronger and clearer. Talk to slick pete i know he said he's having some made up for his SWB
18. It made a huge difference to mine when all i had was the carpet, dash, carbon kevlar bucket seat, no rear panels/carpet or spare. Went like a rat up a drain pipe up the pod and lost nearly a second off my quarter mile over stock :D lol
19. Not bad at all that. How far have gone with stripping out? Have you swapped the spare for a lightweight SWB spare inflatable. Big difference in weight (and size) between the two
20. lol, i know i can't believe it either! :D The reason it has such a big air scoop is the fact it has a mahooooosive full size intake filter and a riser fitted which adds another 4-5 inches on top I quite like it
