  1. I love torquey engines, that's why i went back to an NA from a TT :D I keep imagining that moment on the motorway, porsche pulls up next to me in the outside lane and i hammer it and lose him before he has chance to change down a gear :hyper:
  2. Great news mate, extremely pleased for you as you can imagine :D I'll try and make your next gig because it's been a while since i've seen you! Hope everything's going good :) Nick p.s. do i still have myself down for the special metal boxed edition of the album ;) hehe
  3. lol, the car's lowered by 35mm too! So there's about 4.5inches between the subframe and the floor :x: No speedbumps for me! The pictures really don't do it justice tbh, much more impressive in the flesh :D
  4. That's the bit i'm looking forward to the most and the handling in the corners from dropping 100kg on the shell and another 8kg off the engine weight plus the engine being below the top of the tyres and sitting over the axel should make it perfect :D

Have a good one buddy and hopefully you'll have a working zed by the time you get back :D
  6. Cheers John, how's the V8 bedding in now? :D
  7. Flipping ek! 3 years?!?! Hoping you enjoy her when you get her back buddy :D
  8. lol, as tempting an offer as that is i will have to decline  Cheers buddy, i'm so happy its finally getting somewhere after all this waiting :D
  9. I know what you mean, seems ages ago since MantaV8 finished his and i was just as excited for him when he finished it and got it on the road :D I just can't wait to know i have everything there to get it started up for the first it's just these lifters, rockers and pushrods i'm missing along with a fuel pressure regulator, plug, leads and a new dissy cap then i'm ready to go :hyper: I really should get that second engine on ebay... :headvswal
  10. From desktop dyno it's estimating 420bhp and 490ftlb of torque (400ftlb at 2000RPM!)? From talking to some guys who work with V8s they say i should be looking more likely 450-475bhp then there's the nitrous/supercharger option next year.....
  11. Cheers lads :D More to come!
  12. pmsl  First time i'd seen it though :D
  13. Well just in the process of finishing off the gearbox install, need to lengthen the throw by 2cm to get it dead centre and also grind a little more out of the floor to stop the stick fouling on 3rd gear but other than that it's spot on and a nice clean shift - tremek tko500 mustang box :D Then i decided to do the thing i've been wanting to do the last couple of days, see how the final engine will look so quickly popped everything into place :D (i'm such a child lol) ...and still fits under a stock bonnet - sleeper wahoo! :D More to do tomorrow night but off down the pub this evening folks - i need a break! :D
  14. Oh and many many thanks to Keith5700 for all the parts he sold me from his project, they've saved so much work and fabricating and of course all the advice he's given me over the past 3 months. Still got the exhaust to sort out that i bought off him and the prop shaft but hey luckily i have 2 motorsport companies working with me now :D
  15. Anyone on here is always more than welcome, can't guarentee they'll be any biscuits in the cupboard but there's always tea :D
  16. lol, hopefully we won't need to pull the engine out wholesale, fingers crossed we can just lift it out slightly to get to that turbo. Think it might be easier to get engine and box out together in the long run but we'll sort it out on the day :) i'm determined to make japshow finale in the v8 now. Just going to have to work full tilt this next month to get the end. Fingers crossed...
  17. i know what you mean, i hate to think i'll not see those lovely shiny internals again (hopefully lol) well i would have had it done a long time ago if it hadn't have had my bitch of an ex fiance walk off owing me 2k and with moving house i've lost 600 quid in rent in the old place from having to move a month before i was ready :( shit happens though and i'm now living with cheaper overheads and a huge garage :) more time to spend on the zed now so things should move on with a much faster pace :)
  18. lol, because I still need to do some work on the heads first (mainly cleaning) and there's loads of room to work on the engine in the bay so they'll be going on in the next couple of night plus they won't be going on permanently anyway as i need to check for valve clearance when the lifters and rockers go on. The last hurdle! :D Yep it's a tremek TKO500 gearbox so custom mounts and because my engine sits slightly forward of where keith's did the gearbox sits further forward by 2 cm so i've had to make a few alterations to his custom bracket but despite a few worries about the fact it sits 2inches lower than keith's v8 conversion everything clears including the pumps and belts.
  19. One thing i can't get over is: a) how small the engine is even without the heads and b) how low it is in the engine bay!!!!
  20. Cheers guys, lots of set backs getting this far but it's finally in and the rest of the jobs are simple bolt and plug in jobs so give me a few weeks and the interior will be done, pipes will be made up and connected, exhaust will be on, prop will be cut, welded and balanced and hopefully by then i should have some money! :D As jon says, massive thanks to my bro and dad for helping me today, woudl have been impossible without them there :D More updates to follow later this week!
  21. Shut it Spunky Wifi
  22. Plenty of angle on that to get it in: Gear lever came off to get it under the bulkhead but apart from that it slotted straight in without any problems! Engine in!
  23. Started a bit late today but between me, my dad and my bro we managed to get the engine in in less than 30 minutes but the mounting bracket for the gearbox was what caused all the problems, 5 mm off on one side so had to lengthen all the slot to accomodate and went through f*** knows how many grinding stones to get there  On to the interior next, just need to lengthen the throw of the gear lever and grind out a bit more of the floor to accomodate the throw of the lever but it's in finally after 7 months and jesus does it sit low in the body, the weight it right in line with the centre of the wheels so should handle brilliantly which is what i wanted :D More updates next week guys i'm going to put my feet up and watch the telly for a bit  lol Dad and bro: "What the f*** have we let ourselves in for?"
