Have been tinkering in the garage and was wondering if anyone has ever made a mock front end of a gearbox that would hold a atarter motor in place just to turn over a engine to do a compression test while a engine is out of the car. Maybe cutting a broken gearbox up( grinding it off after front part). Then it could be bolted up to engine easily. Or is there another way??. Ive got a powerfull sds drill but even that hasnt got enough guts in it to turn the front pulley cog fastenough to do it that way.

  6. Really bad idea your having. Wanting to drive on road with no rear lights, speeding around with a way of hiding your plates from the old bill........ Easier and safer solution.... Get some track time and run howether fast and crazy you want.
  7. Mmm, quite a problem there.... haynes dont do a manual for the z32.
  8. It should give u a good idea if its a internal problem. Compression testers are only £20 ,so not a expensive test to do.
  9. After having the same problem with a couple of engines, i would suggest you try a compression test.

  11. How awkward are these to fit?. Without the centre peice to bow a little, how do you get these to fit in place?
  12. No, cant turn it fastenough to get a reading. But i like your thinking.
  13. First one i got from kinguwaga(summat spelt like that). Every cylinder had less than 95psi and NO 4 cylinder had only 45psi. Second engine i got from vodkashots(who did say cylinder 6 may have a problem but wasnt sure and has agreed to a full refund as it is broken((thankyou ian)).
  14. Its a second engine, cylinder 6 has got 10psi on the compression test.

  16. If i had choice of just waiting i would. But im car less at mo and really need one for work. Although i do have loads of spares now that are good to try sell on. I now got 3sets of cylinder heads that are gonna be no good to me. Plus loads of other little bits. Anyone wonna swap a load of parts for a good engine, pleeeeaaassseeeee,lol.
  17. well after spending 4yrs and almost 17k on my zed its time to hang the coat up and call it a day. In the last mon ive fitted 2engines in it and both have been no good. Unfortunatley now ive not got the time or money left to redo it all again. So will be taking it back out this weekend and start stripping the car. In the past ive had a house broken into and burnt to the ground and that was nowhere near as upsetting as this decision has made me. So watch out as the parts start coming up for offers.
  18. Aa far as i know there are only two. Auto and manual bush. So cant see why it will be any different.

  22. iarc that came out last year, and the bloke was sacked for doing it that way. Shame, because he had everyones attention, unlike the usual boring announcments we always ignore planes.
  23. Well in the end it took 10mins to remove it. I grinded half way thro it and the hit the long crow baron it turning it half way each time. Popped out rather easily.
  24. I didnt see any point in continuing with that engine. Theres no way it was gonna raise on compression by as much as 100psi a cylinder. So hopefully is more prudent to face the music and change engine.
