Mellowyellow (lee) came round for a hour, but had to shoot off cos was going to london.

Engines out, and got started on prepping the new engine. So quite a good days work.

Has anyone succesfully got these out, and if so how??????

Well i got a day off work, so into garage i am and see how much i can get done.

Just done a retest of the compression on pass side, its gone up but only by between 5 and 15psi. Cylinder 2 is now 80, cylinder 4 ,55 and cylinder 6, 100. I cant see how this engine ever run with compression that low, so looks like i wasted alot of money on a pile of scrap. At least now i know 100% where the problem is. So if anyone fancys helping out removing and doing the other engine ive got, please feel free too.

Well after much deliberation on what to do it looks like taking it back out is the only option. Theres no way this bottom end was in goid working order as it just simply doesnt keep enough compression to work without some form of help. looks like i bought a dud one for sure. So this week am taking it out and putting in the one i got off vodkashots. This really is gonna be the zeds last chance before i break it up. Fingers crossed this will work.

The dipstick in still in place mate. Its like the rings just need freeing up properly and some carbon to build up in engine. Or maaybe put a new engine,lol. Which at least i have the option of now cheers bud :lol:

No mate, its a brand new 740ah battery. But it has had a lot of turning the motor over and no proper driving to charge it up. Had it on battery charger a few times but really needs a good full charge. Once ive get it running again im gonna let it cool and do another compression test, see if its getting any better.

Soo tempremental, today back to not starting. Am leaving batt on charge to see if it helps any cos it is a little low now from all the on off trying.

Very wierd day today on the z. Was in garden taking off the turbos, manifolds and egr valve getting it ready for a engine swap over. decided while i have a 2min break that i'd give it one last shot at trying to start the engine before i started to take it out, and guess what... It started up first go.. Do question now is will it work again from cold tommorow or was it just toying with me,lol. Either way i was chuffed to bits today that i had it going.

After i drain the oil from mine i'll swap it over.

Starting on it first thing in morning :-). Need to get a engine crane sorted asap and get that spigot bearing ordered too. But will most likely try it as a already built engine first(mainly cos its quicker,lol). Once ive got it all up and running i will post a video up of it for ya. Hopefully should be all done by end of week.

Called over to ians today to pick up another engine to replace mine. Was good to meet ian for the first time. Had a good chin wag and saw his car which is a very lovely z. And in proper good style ian didnt even want paying today as he wants,me to get it built up and running and to know the engine is good before payment. Top bloke, and proper club spirit.

Well looks like its a dead. Compression is just too low. Now its not even trying to start anymore. So looks like i bought a dud one :-(. Am soo pissed off. But on a better note, vodkashots has a good runner for sale(deal done) so happy days could still be ahead.

I dropped a little oil in front 4cylinders, heated spark plugs in oven and it started first time.

Well i got in from work at 10:15, went straight to garage and........ NOPE, she wouldnt start from cold. Am gutted.

Left it for 45-50mins (couldnt wait any longer,lol) and she fired up 1st time. True test now is whether it fires up when left to go cold, so will try again in morning. At the moment im as happy as can be.

Fingers crossed when she cools down she will restart properly. Just had it running for 30mins :-) Tappets have quietened down alot too so hoping its on a winning streak,lol.

How much would you want for the bare engine? Is it a good runner please?
