  1. Who's successfully re-trimmed their interior rear quarter panels (the upper parts that go saggy)? I'm looking to do mine and took it to my local trim shop as I figured they'd be able to match the vinyl and fit it correctly with heat and the correct adhesive. Alas, no, they advised that the material and manufacture technique would mean that they'd not be able to get the right match or fitment and showed me some swatches. The stuff they use is proper seat vinyl which is about half a MM thick and would not cover correctly and the grain wouldn't match nor the colour. Has anyone successfully done this? Mine need doing, they're not terrible, but they're not great. I wouldn't know what sort of material to use, something without a backing I guess which is what most trim shops would have.
  2. Ah shit! Missed it too! Happy birthday el capitano!
  3. This. Take it to PowerZed. Well worth it.
  4. Wow, already full summer where you are Art?
  5. I did look round for a single DIN Bose system....a newer one than that which came with the car, but couldn't find any that had any hidden tech, so maintained my Alpine system. I did have a look round for some plastic Alpine logos like the Bose ones, but couldn't find anything and lost interest. The Bose ones do look nicer.
  6. I thought about getting Bose ones, but my system is an Alpine system so my OCD would have had a fit with myself!
  7. Lovely jubbly. Cleaned and de-greased the panel where the speaker cover sits. Fitted the new one.....my OCD loves this. :)
  8. New speaker covers turned up today! One side has a few little indentations and the other side a few spots of paint missing. Amazing how much nicer the new covers look in person. They're a nice satin finish too. Here's the little dents. Didn't really notice them too much when the door cards were on the car. Had to replace them anyway! Side by side.
  9. De-grease them and Soda blast them instead. Takes a little longer, but you won't get any damage as the soda is a fine powder that dissolves.
  10. He said marque, not model. ;)
  11. It would be cheaper and easier to get used glass from the US. Generally they don't get scratched up as bad a vehicles in the UK. Less crap and grit on the roads especially in the southern states.
  12. Exactly why I didn't put it there. It does look neat in that mirror control unit, but again, yeah, you'd be left with wires dangling about when your phone is charged in, also if you have a USB drive in there, it'll stick up in the way and finally, my mirror control unit is brand new and at a cost of nearly £100, I didn't really want to go cutting into it.
  13. Another silly little job done today, a little more 'hidden tech'. Not particularly exciting, but it feeds my OCD. My new Alpine audio in addition to having bluetooth connectivity also has phono and USB connectors. You basically get bare connectors with most aftermarket head units and rather than having cables hanging out from somewhere or in the glovebox, I decided to do a really neat job and put a flush fitting connector in. I looked at several styles and places to put them and decided on a little area at the back of the arm rest cubby. There's plenty of clearance and Nissan left me a nice little bit of real estate just the right size for such a connector. So this is the little flush fit USB/Phone combi connector. Detectable at the back. Cut out the back with a blade and test fitted the connector. Because of its location, I don't want to fit the centre arm rest back down as-is in case I crush wires. I also HATE bad / messy wiring. I've seen so many Z32s with appalling wiring with it either bunched up in a tangled mess, hanging out from various areas or general poor routing, I wanted mine to look neat, be secure to prevent damage or chafing. I got myself some little P-clips and took up the cable size variance with some electrical tape as insulation padding. Handily Nissan designed this console area with plenty of fasteners, so lots of places to put a p-clip! Cable routed neatly out of the way of mount points and secured nicely. Nice, neat and tucked away. No drilling holes in the dash or having cables hanging out inside various cubby areas.
  14. Awesome! Glad you were able to get one!!!
  15. .....That's how it should be. All countries have their own agenda and each one needs to have a representative to put that point across to get what is most suitable for them.
  16. I'm up in Scotland at the moment and the folks I've spoken to want devolution even less now. If they vote 'out' of the UK, they'll be right at the bottom of the queue to get back into the EU, behind countries like Turkey, Bosnia and Iceland and this is partly what Sturgeon is fighting for. Sturgeon might get her referendum, but the Scots do not want to be completely isolated in the main.
  17. I still can't believe this is actually happening, it's a sorry and sad state of affairs, we're regressing and going 'backwards' with isolation rather than progressing and working as a team. The scaremongering from the tabloid media (from both sides) - don't get me started on our hateful tabloid press - and the personalities involved with campaigning (again from both sides) ultimately led to the decisions many folks made rather than real hard facts which is completely wrong. I don't believe that something like this really should have been left to the British public to vote for, the British public who do not and will not know all the ramifications and all the details (myself included). As an example, the British public searched in their droves online for the definition and meaning of the EU AFTER the vote had been cast. That's ludicrous - too late! The EU was an insurance policy and a very good one at that. We now have no one else to rely on if the shit hits the fan. I'm very much an 'internationalist' and do like the fact that the UK is a very cosmopolitan country with many nationalities and faiths living here. It adds to the spice of living in a modern 1st world society and I find that a privilege and I dearly love Europe. The comments from Brexiteers 'we want our country back' are quite a narrow minded approach. We never lost our country and we certainly won't be getting much back from leaving. The number of foreign nationals in this country is small in comparison to the overall population and those claiming benefits are an absolute fraction compared to the amount of layabout Brits blenging off the system and let's face it, the main argument and source of discourse was 'immigration'. People will still come and live in the UK, the amount of illegal immigrants will increase. I strangely now feel less patriotic since the vote to leave took place. The only bonus I see is that we will now see the end of UKIP and hopefully with it, Nigel Farage....since he's now crawled up Donald Trump's arse!
  18. Really? Maybe they've made a batch of them. I need to phone my local branch tomorrow. Thanks for the heads up!
  19. I'd MUCH rather go to this type of event than JAE, looks good. Shame it's Suffolk though as that's a right trek from Somerset and a few days before I take my Z down to Monaco.
  20. Ouch! I'd cry! I've seen inside my sills with a boroscope and there's zero rust thankfully.
  21. If it's a stock colour then it will be 326.
  22. AKA crud catchers. They might protect them from chips, but it isn't chips that are the cause of the rust.
