An interesting experiment
I did tell them they need to register to see the thread in the email I sent. No biggy doing that though. :)

I don't think I'll get a response from either. Especially BBC, despite there being a thing for funny/odd news on their website. I remember doing this and sending it in to them a few years ago and got no response.

I penned a little story and sent it, a link to this thread to yourpics@bbc and some tabloid news papers.... that I never ever read....somehow doubt this would make it onto a broadsheet!

Look what just turned up! Shall I open it? The suspense is killing me!! :scared: I guess it may have been repacked at the local sorting office....if it is indeed Martin's life savings!

Yeah, they use bio-ethanol additive in their fuels. Something we don't really have over here. Well the Dutch's duty is similar, slightly higher, but their VAT is 19%!!

Ok, so I just checked on gassbuddy.com California (notoriously the most expensive state) has prices from as low as $2.70 a gallon rising to $3.50 Looking at some of the Gulf coast states, I picked Alabama, one of the less affluent of the coastal states. BIG refineries in Mobile, so prices should be their cheapest in the US here. These range from $2.50 to $2.80 per gallon. So not sure where they are getting their (50c) 33p a litre ($1.90 a gallon) from.

BTW, I think the Dutch have the highest fuel prices in the world.

Maybe they found the cheapest gas station in the US. Average pricing is about $2.50 per gallon. 3.8 litres in a gallon that's 65c per litre. Current exchange rate is 1 USD = 0.669274 GBP this gives you an average of 43p per litre. Based on 33p per litre, that equates to about 50c per litre. Multiply that by 3.8 and you have $1.90 per gallon. I am sure around the gulf coast states, prices can be found as low as that. Let me do a quick hunt for cheapest prices in the US.

I notice it all the time. When I was in California just over a year ago, prices had rocketed. California has quite high fuel prices anyway and I think they'd risen to over $4 a gallon. Now they are down to about $2.50 a gallon. I was quite surprised how much the prices had dropped when I was in Georgia in September. Factor in the exchange rate variance and you don't really get a true reflection. When Fuel prices were over four bucks a gallon, the exchange rate was 2:1. So effectively, they were paying about 50p a litre based on that exchange rate...which would be about 75p a litre on today's exchange rate based on 2008 prices. I'm back in California in a few months, so will be interesting to see what the prices are then. I did happen to fill up at one of the most expensive gas stations in the whole of the US in La Jolla (California) and this was $4.20 from memory. That works out at around 55p per litre as there are 3.8 litres to a US gallon. Based on prices for fuel in September which I saw in Atlanta (GA), and the current exchange rate, they are paying about 43p a litre. Now if the exhange rate hadn't changed, that value would be about 1/4 what it is here, but it isn't. Wouldn't it be nice if the UK government dropped the tax a little. The reason we don't see the differences constantly go up is that the UK tax system on fuel duty (not VAT) is also a buffer and is not fixed. When wholesale fuel prices go up, we don't see the huge jump that the US does. The US tax on fuel is pretty marginal and doesn't absorb like UK taxation. So this is why the US sees quite volatile fluctuations at the pumps....if that makes any sense.

Not yet mate. Post comes here about 1pm...great huh! But I'm in all day today and all day tomorrow....so I am ready and waiting to be surprised! :) I'll try and get a photo of the postie handing it over! I have my camera at the ready!

you and who's army - cheeky russians!
We do do it to them, but we don't get caught! The US is always running under cover sorties over the Russian airspace and there are numerous spy drones and satellites locked onto Russia!
-
you and who's army - cheeky russians!
LOL, it's older and more dilapidated than what the UK has!

you and who's army - cheeky russians!
Probably because UK spy planes and also US allied drones are flying over Russian airspace every day!

Plugging my recircs
Sounds like the person who installed them had no idea. The recircs should be removed or disconnected at least when installing BOVs. I'd still rip out the BOVs and get some working recircs.
-
Plugging my recircs
Why are you worried about the recircs leaking if you've plumbed in the BOVs? I'd still rip out the BOVs and get some good recircs. A much better solution.

Cause they make no money out of finding illegal aliens as they can't make money out of them!
-
Plugging my recircs
Rip the DVs out and get some replacement recircs or Bailey recircs. :) Dump valves/BOVs are a bad move anyway.

Plugging my recircs
Why are you wanting to plug your recircs!?!?!

Hi newbie just bought a very ratty 300zx
Despite the paint defects, that's pretty straight and rust free looking at it from here. A nice fresh coat of paint and some refurbishment to the wheels and it'll look good. Never liked the Lexus SC, but always had the urge to get one and midly modify it....yours does look good. Although not feeling the vents in the wings.
