  1. Tried to fix an intermittent speedo....and made it worse. Refitted parts of the dash with anti-rattle tape though and everything feels really sold. Still need to do the speedo! I've just driven down to Glastonbury and back in it to see my parents and had a great drive. Noticed the lack of performance in this heat. Well, just a slight reduction. Z1 SMICs are to be ordered at some point!
  2. God dammit! I made it worse! Now it goes crazy and won't give any speed and shoots straight to 100. If I am in 5th, anything below will register at 20, hit just under 3,000 rpm and it shoots up to 100. The mileometer is working accurately. I took it out again and can't see any crossed tracks. Any ideas? If I got a set of JDM clocks and took the needle and face off of my UK clocks, could I swap them over? I fear something is gufukked now and not sure how to fix it?
  3. Graham, where are R10 and C2? I can't see them on this board or mine.
  4. Ignore me! The metal straps at the bottom! Grrr! No skin on my knuckles now!
  5. How the hell do you split the clocks? It's been years since I've done it. pushed the tabs out, but it won't split from the bottom. There's nothing retaining it (from view) either.
  6. Git! Yeah, my grammar and spelling are slipping! Point and laugh all you like, I don't care! ha :p
  7. I'm driving back from Toulouse via LeMans next month. Wrong time of year for the 24hr, but I can't wait to take my Z down to the south of France again. I take it over the channel quite a bit, but usually only drive the roads of Normandy and Brittany and sometimes the west coast. But heading due south. Should be good fun.
  8. They sure did! I'm good thanks mate. Hope all is peachy your end.
  9. Yeah, the Cheddar meets were always good. There were often other car clubs up there anything from the crappy Corsa meets up to the Porsche boys. Yeah, back in Portishead. However it may not be for that long.....!
  10. Evenin' Rich. Long time no speak!
  11. Guidance suggests that you should not 'expect' or 'have' to carry out a maneuver that would damage your car or put other 'road users - including pedestrians, yourself and/or your vehicle' at risk. Agree though Allan, but I think there's an expectation that the public don't generally know about that means you're not 'expected' to do anything undue. Badly worded, but I am sure you get the gist.
  12. In terms of breaking motoring rules, you can be. Best to act responsibly and not to do anything that you wouldn't normally do in normal traffic situations. Think that's the safest way to play it.
  13. I've done some reading as it's something that is quite interesting. Also, as per my previous post, there's nothing in the Highway Code about how to act when dealing with emergency vehicles. So you're out on a bit of a limb. From what I've read, you are not required by law to do anything apart from act responsibly. You can't be prosecuted for trying and failing to make way for an emergency vehicle but you can now be prosecuted for deliberately obstructing one. You are fully responsible (as are emergency drivers) for your own actions whilst behind the wheel so if you progress through a red light (with or without a camera) or drive at excessive speed to try and avoid an emergency vehicle etc and you get caught, you'll probably get a good wrap on the knuckles and could legally get prosecuted. If an emergency driver encounters traffic of any description whilst driving under emergency conditions he/she should be courteous and try to make their actions as obvious as possible so you, the motorist, can act appropriately. Sirens and horns should not be used as a bullying tactic either. So if you're sat in your sports car and they're blaring the horns and you've made a conscious effort to move, they are at the stage where they could be seen to be using them as a bullying tactic. You must not break the law to move out of the way for an emergency vehicle, and you will be liable for prosecution if you do. A report I read described how a woman driver was picked up by a traffic signal camera. She had moved forwards to clear the path for an ambulance. But she was prosecuted anyhow. The report included a comment by a representative for the emergency services, who said the woman should have stayed put, because their drivers have the necessary skills to get through. If that was a court statement, he/she shot the woman's case to bits. In some cases, if you get prosecuted, you could be lucky.... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2325401/Motorist-pulled-bus-lane-let-engines-emergency-pass-hit-30-penalty.html
  14. I haven't really looked into their availability as my Z has none and also have never had any rust. But MJP might still be able to get hold of them. I am pretty sure they're discontinued, but it's worth a shot. http://www.mjpshop.co.uk/index.php?route=product/category&path=158_21
  15. We had a meet at the Haynes Motor Museum once Richard. They actually have a track there too and access is easy via the A303. There are some decent roads there and they're not so congested with goods-vehicles.
  16. Here ya go: http://www.ivepassed.co.uk/Emergency%20Vehicles.html#
  17. I do that Richard. If I see an ambulance coming up behind me and there's no real place to pull it, I floor it! I've seen some morons that hold ambulances up as they dither around trying to pull in. I am sure the personal in there have seen every sort of behaviour under the sun and will appreciate any gesture to move no matter how big or small.
  18. Double crossers, I bet they wouldn't mount a kerb. Saying that I would in my daily driver, but my Z, no way. You know I think it would take longer to try and get the Z onto a kerb 'safely', than it would be to wait for the lights to change. You can't simply plough a sports car up a kerb. Also, I totally agree with Vig! It's not 'legal' to mount a kerb in the first place. Saying that, nor is going through a red light, but there are less pros to moving through a red light.
  19. I registered as 'funkysi' also, to see how quickly you'd react. I'll give you your dues, DAMN QUICK!
  20. Haha! Thanks Bri. FWIW, I scoured the 'members list' and I can't find anything on there. I have a feeling that the one I lost the password to, I also didn't post under, so there would be no way of finding it. You could search by IP address I guess. I have a few of them, but the one that I'm associated with right now may find it if you have that facility.
  21. I honestly can't remember one of them. Sozz300 is the main one I used for browsing though.
  22. Haha! You probably traced my IP. Yup, ban that one as per AUP rules. :) I'm being a good boy now.
  23. The R200 diff is the NA diff. The stock R230 TT rear end is 3.69. The stock R200 N/A rear end is 4.08 They both look different. They're a different size. They should have a stamp on the casting. Hope this helps.
  24. Hello! There's a few members on here from Ireland. Where abouts are you from? Traveled around NI and the Republic a bit in my time.
