  1. I agree with you. I guess what I am trying to say is that I probably don't need that level of volume in my car. The Z32 cabin is quite small and I have intermediate requirements. I would partake in some 'copypasta' but it's Andrew's thread and he may have wanted in the subscribed area for a reason, so I'll leave that down to him.
  2. It really does depend more on the offset and design of the spoke area. The Z33 Brembos 'should' fit under 17" wheels, but you need to check that the spokes clear the calipers. Photos and spec of your current wheels?
  3. Amplified components appear to offer me the bass I need. I am not wanting anything more bassy to be honest. I got rid of my sub and don't want another one. I really only wanted clarity and volume of what you'd find in a reasonable new car.....the audio in my Leon FR+ being as good as I need it to be. Basically a quality VAG system. If you want something neat and concealed, have a look at AndrewG's effort. This, IMO is the nicest install I've seen. I have absolutely no interest in any of these big ugly and lairy show type installs that weigh the car down or visible sub woofers, what he's done is great IMO and is by far and away the best install I have ever come across. So neat and the quality is first-rate - click the link to see what he did. http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?172493
  4. Interesting proportions on those Bri. I kinda like 'em though and I think they've aged pretty well. They've always looked like that type of vehicle that you'd want to take to somewhere in Scandinavia/Iceland. They look like a proper 'explorers' vehicle. When I was at university in Southampton, I had a weekend job driving new and used cars off of the ships that came in from all over the world (I had thee best student job - whilst other compatriots were stacking shelves or pulling pints). Anyway, I always liked it when the ships carrying the grey imports arrived. They always had these and Shoguns on them along with the usual grey import cars of that era. I always liked driving these and remember them fondly, a bit agricultural like any diesel 4x4 from the time but they were so spacious inside that it was almost like driving a motorhome, but without the stupid looks and awful Transit running gear! Have fun Bri, I'd love to do that. I really like Scandinavia and have been to Norway and Sweden a number of times. Dig deep though as they're very expensive countries - take your own booze at the very least! If you get the chance, take some of the ferry routes across the straits of Skagerrak and Kattegat...and if you get that far, the Bay of Bothnia (Baltic region). The routes are awesome and you intertwine through rocky outcrops; truly stunning. If you haven't got the time, look at the route between Sandefjord (Norway) to Stromstad (Sweden). It's only a few hours, but the route into and out of those ports is beautiful. On the longer routes (5hr+), the ships are vast and some of the biggest ferries in the world - like mini cruise liners.
  5. Good point! I think the coaxial versions of my front speakers would be best then. The frequency response of the bass seems better than my current rear speakers which don't really like the higher amplification. I did turn the fader down a little, but it's still a little tinny.
  6. Dude, you're so tall that your seat would be wound back so far back that the speakers would give you 50/50 orientation. lol Nothing stopping having the same components in the rear. You'd not be able to hide the tweeters though. If I get the coaxial versions of my front components, having those in the rear at the very least will give a greater depth of sound as the fronts have done. The general concensus is not to bother with upgrading the rear speakers but just do the fronts only. I say that's cobblers as the front speakers are the same distance from the ear than the rears are (apart from the tweeters). I am certainly going go upgrade the rears further to give an all-round greater depth of sound. I do agree that the direction they face is not the best, but in terms of visuals, better there than hacking into the rear panels and ugly speaker grills.
  7. Thanks mate. Currently in the rear I have older type lower powered Alpine coaxials which I am likely to replace with new Alpine speakers....actually the coaxial version of my new component set which I am really impressed with. My current rears are sat in gutted out Bose speaker enclosures. Really happy with the results so far. No extra power cables or unpluggable wires. Soooo neat and compact, it's totally hidden, no power cables in the engine bay, no amplifiers squeezed into the boot area, no sub woofers. Just nice, neat and hidden
  8. I am not going to get one now. If they are one of those 'tell tale' identifiers of an auto car and get left on....with the loom I can see on cars that have had a conversation, I will leave it off as mine has always been a manual.
  9. No wonder mine is so quick. No mobile discotheque and 11.5 stone of me. :wack:
  10. Good job Steve's scrawny. If he were a fat *******, then no amount of weight saving in the car is gonna help! ;)
  11. ...and this is now my favourite car in the entire universe. I don't care that it's not the quickest or the most expensive....but just look at it...LOOK.AT.IT!
  12. Sure? Whilst lots of cars have had manual conversions, the two on the previous page are manual cars. Richard Smith's car is an auto and doesn't have one....
  13. Series 2 slicktop TT by the looks of it. Rare too. Least the driver is ok. Greasy road though Jeff.
  14. That was a rotter, something I and most others might have sent for scrap, what a save! Very nice welding there and attention to detail! Like the Speedline Alessios too...I assume that's what they are. Do you have any better photos of it all built up after paint?
  15. Yes please! Let me know how much you want for them and I'll have them straight away! :)
  16. Wasn't easy. Easier than removing the entire engine though! :) So glad I did it though, it looks so much neater than it did before. Nissan never painted the bays properly in these cars, they use base-coat only with no pearl midcoat or lacquer. I had the exterior painted and wanted everything to look clean and slick. No matter how much I cleaned the inner wings and everything, it never looked super-clean. When I had it painted in bianco nuvola, it didn't match at all. The plan was to get the engine bay done at a later date, but I prefer it like this. There are so many black hoses and black parts in the bay, that it looks much neater this way. I did a tester on it....you can kinda see what it did look like.
  17. No, my car has always been white. Engine bay was white...or rather KH6, but without the pearl. It needed a freshen up....and I like the way they do the GTR Skylines' bay in satin black. I did it with the engine in situ. I stripped a lot of it out to do the work.
  18. I need one of these....! Not because I splash and spray...just cause I need one and it should be on it!
  19. ....and yes, I know there's an arch-liner clip missing!!
  20. Never seen it before and noticed it twice today - see photos. As you can see, mine does not have this....I have no idea what it's for and can't work out what use it has? These two however, both have it....
  21. This thread might inspire you guys with rusty cars: http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?134203
  22. There was an 'old' forum. I did have the URL until lately as I think Craig still had it online somewhere....
