In theory, it should be better as 99ron is a guaranteed 99ron....optimax is not...or rather....not sure.

Do check...would like to know when the 99ron version will be out. Bit of octane booster and you'll be hitting the 100ron that the Japs run them on. :)

Look on http://www.shell.co.uk and you won't see anywhere Optimax being advetised as either 97 ron or 98 ron just the fact it's full of stuff to clean your valves and injectors !! Oh and Ferrari testing there fuels !! BP utimate do say it's 97ron along with Esso's new unleaded (can't remember what it's called) ;) Still confused though as to 'Exactly' what the fuel really is.

Where's that info from then Dave? Shell themselves? Having a debate about this over on another forum, conflicting reports. Interesting stuff though. :)

Old thread...but I thought I'd add to it.... My understanding is that Optimax is just normal 95ron + some additives. The fact it isn't given a 97 ron rating make me suspicious Optimax is just some marketing con. Shell dont put 97 at the pump because it does not meet the UK requirement for 97 ron. So it's nowhere near a 98.

Tell them...as some have said, it's 3 or 4 years. So I'd just tell them you have no points. Saying that, they should have their own record as when you declare your endorsements, you'll usually supply with with a code and date of the offence. So should automatically be removed as and when their time frame stipulates.

You could have told them last year!! LOL It'll not change your premium now, only on renewal.

French fuel prices (well, petrol anyway) have always been relatively comparable with ours....that's what I've noticed anyway. Over the years have done a lot of continental driving. Only diesel that is cheaper....but that's catching up a bit now.

*****cks!!!! Bank won't clear the cheque until Thursday....so Zed time isn't going to happen tomorrow. Really peed off now!! Grrrrrrr. Had it all sorted for tomorrow as well transport wise. Now I have to spend stupid money getting to London on Friday and then home again! ARRRRGGGGHHHH!! Buying and selling cars is the biggest PITA!!

Difficult to keep your head up I know. But need to keep a sound state of mind as you'll find that affects your physical well beeing. I've had a very rough past 3 years, not in the slighest bit comparable to you, but PMA was the key for me.....nearly gave up at times. Good luck cap.

Gutted, I thought you could get 24hour cheque clearance through your bank if you pay them some kind of remittance.

Right then, picking my Zed up on Tuesday, now, I've just been given a cheque for my old car which I've just sold. What I am wondering is, can you speed the cashing of cheques up? IIRC, you used to be able to pay around 12 quid to have it processed that day. Is this correct? Thanks
