  1. Sorry.......RETARD mode....course it does. Cheers.... lol
  2. BTDC....can someone enlighten me as to what that means...something something detination cycle is it?
  3. Pity neither of us know what parameters the chips are mapped to. Might be able to work out how 'safe' it is that way.
  4. Hmmmm, conflicting reports at the mo...on my thread it was advised I get a replacement chip, whilst on this one, it seems it may not be a necessity. I'll get one anyway though to save any future ball ache.
  5. Just booked a rail ticket to Slough to collect my car on Friday. Not meaning to sound in the least bit racist or politically incorrect. But I just spent nearly 30 mins trying to book a simple journey. Could I understand the bloke on the other end of the line? Could I hell. I lost my patience with him totally in the end. Didn't mean to, but he had such a strong Indian accent, I couldn't understand a word he was saying. Poor chap... Something like that needs people that can speak clearly. My brain is now pickled! Not only that, but the NRE gave me totally the wrong information than the Great Western call centre and trying to pick up their pieces from their mistakes was really difficult. Neither of the people I spoke to could speak very clear English.
  6. Thanks Celt1 Andy, I guess that's why (especially on older cars) many yankmobiles are seriously detuned?
  7. Shame I don't still work at the MOD research facility in Malvern....I'm sure there'd have been a way... lol
  8. That's been up on barryboys before. Got ripped to pieces. Tragic car really. Here's an MX-5 Z3..... It still is beyond belief why anybody would invest 10 grand into a 100k automatic 1995 MX-5 when a decent Z3 can be picked up for only about 2.5 grand more. Although at least for once, one of these crappy imatation kit cars actually looks like the car its supposed to be! Still looks rather funny though. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=7251&item=4550151662&rd=1
  9. 'MIGHT' convoy up with you lot, depends if I end up in Worcester on the Saturday night or not. Failing that, one MOFO of a convoy back down!
  10. Done a bit of research on racing fuels. Not sure if this will help anyone. Anyway, note that from this example, the desired octane in the 300ZX is 100RON (or as close as you can get). Well, 3 parts 106RON fuel to every 7 parts 97RON fuel gives us 100RON dead on. So, we have a 70L tank, I make that 49L of 97 fuel and 21L of racing fuel. Now, this is where it starts to get a little expensive...... 49L of fuel at 90p per litre (rounded off) = 49 x 90p = £44.10. 21L of racing fuel at £3.20 per litre (rounded off) = £67.20 Which means it's going to cost you £111.30 to fill up the ZX. Now if you use Optimax at 98RON instead of 97RON things change dramatically..... 1) Using Optimax, With a revised ratio of 3 parts 106 RON fuel to every 10 parts 98RON (remember to add +1 to the RON ratings on the conversion chart) and @ 93p per litre gives us : 63L of fuel at 93p per litre (rounded off) = 63 x 93p = £58.59 7L of racing fuel at £3.20 per litre (rounded off) = £22.40 Which means it's going to cost you £80.99 to fill up your ZX.
  11. LOL Marcus...check my thread here. Having the same concerns as you. How long has your car been mapped for 100RON? You been using 98 since you've had it? http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=54697
  12. So litterally is just plug and play with a replacement chip then? That will solve fueling and thus timing discrepencies?
  13. Yup :) But will be getting my fueling checked before I do that though. :)
  14. Not bad at all.. :) Thanks guys. Have got in contact with John, will see what the outcome is. Want to take as best care as possible with this....where financially feasable.
  15. It's a complete ECU though Dave not a piggyback chip/chip carrier. I'll get in contact with John Dixon then. In the mean time, what's the best way to boost the octane level in order to achieve 100RON? Off the shelf octane boosters? Or is there anything else I can use....and in what quantities?
  16. When you say 'chip' do you mean ECU? Because I guess the IMPUL one is mappable, so would I need a chip?
  17. Cheers pal. For the time being I'll try and use high octane fuel with octane boosters and take it steady. I'll not be 'using' the power all that much. It's had a good service on it, cam belt, oil, new plugs coolant and some other odds and sods. Like the idea of getting it remapped too. Good plan. Prolly cost a small fortune though. :(
  18. How can I check what my car's boosting at. It only has it's standard gauge. It's got an IMPUL ECU, so the mapping's been fettled with I guess. Not sure how good these are. Engine is super smooth though, no smoke rattles or anything, so engine appears to be healthy. Just want to keep it that way. Also, does anyone know anything about or run IMPUL ECUs themselves?
  19. It's stories like this that make me paranoid about getting my zed. :( Unlucky chap. Sounds like headgasket failure to me.
  20. Well, I just called my Father....he may lend me the money for the weeks that the cheque may take to clear.....waiting for a response. Looks like business and personal banking have different time frames then for cheque clearance.
  21. Erm....I'm with Nat West. :( Woman did say I should be able to draw it on the Friday.
  22. At times, it reminds me why I don't have Sky....least the house is spared from QVC and 'The God Channel'. Although I'd get Sky/Digital or whatever JUST for the discovery/history channels.
