Thanks S.w.z.
Cars looking great mate. You're not the guy I visited in Guildford Rd are you? I'm in Hayle next week so we'll have to meet up. Are you coming on the Coast run (link above), I'll be in my Rex so will be blasting around a bit if you fancy meeting up? I'll probably be at the dyno in Plymouth as well on the way home from Hayle.

SAD DAY / SAD Revelation. after 5 months sitting in garage. Competition!
Sh*t mate, thats not nice news to get. For some reason I thought these were non-interference engines (if thats the right term) and the valves don't hit the pistons? prob wrong though. Maybe the valve just got stuck for some reason and so caused the low compression, and wouldn't be too much bother? No oil to the top end  is that the whole top end or just the no 6 cylinder? I guess if there's no oil to the top end then the no6 cylinder would be the first to jam as it think thats the one that runs the hottest? Terrible news, hope its not as bad as it sounds

New Zed !! (Sometimes stalling today)
Can't stand those mig tips mate. My first zed was killed due to those things and a faulty boost gauge (adjustable mig tips/valves were turned up to high). I've not got the zed to go fast, it'll never match the rex in speed or handling. I'm keeping it standard and enjoying the quality drive :hyper:

St Ives to Sennen/Lands End Road meet anyone?
I've not got many options as I'm coming down from Kent to see the family for the week. I can't do the weekend before so for me to do it, it needs to be that weekend or a weekday in the week before. So long as I don't have family commitments I'll be at the dyno day, just can't 100% guarantee. Maybe a few of us could do a convoy up? what do you think Jon??

New Zed !! (Sometimes stalling today)
Thanks Eileen :-) I went up to the Southern meet at Dartford in the rex last night. I got there late but met up with a few people still. Not to worried about having to get things done as I'd budgeted for that. I just don't want any niggling problems that I can't get to the bottom of! Needing to do the clutch was a bit of an expensive one but at least its done. The engine seems nice and strong and its a nice clean car so hopefully it'll be free of any issues and I'll be able to get some sun on my bonce this summer :-)

New Zed !! (Sometimes stalling today)
Yeah, I'm really hoping this will be like my last zed which (for me at any rate, not rodders  ) was super reliable. Its probably wishful thinking though as this is a stock one with quite high milage. I've spent about 700 squids today on sorting all the things that seem at all suspect :headvswal I just want a really nice stock zed as since having a fire breathing Rex I've really come to appreciate how good a road car the zed is in standard form. This one has had the turbos redone so thats the main expensive item sorted. I'm getting the clutch done tomorrow. Hopefully there's not much else that can go wrong!

New Zed !! (Sometimes stalling today)
Thanks for that. Good link. Looking at the service manual it seems like the A.A.C is the culprit. The idle itself is rock solid, its this bit which says check the AAC: 'engine stalls when momentarily pressing on the accelerator' its only done it a few times but I want this Zed to be perfect (is that possible?) so will need to check that out.

New Zed !! (Sometimes stalling today)
Ok its started! Guess who went out to buy a 'nice sensible reliable' daily drive at the weekend and came back with a 300zxTT?!! :mac1: I'll post a thread with some pics once everything is sorted and I've got a few mins spare. I bought the TT from PaulTT who is off to Miami. I'm pretty chuffed to have one again but wary of the can of worms that Zeds can be!! Its bone stock and has full nissan service history right down to the dealers letter before it was sold, and the original brochure and a bunch of Zclub mags! All the tools, targa bits, etc are all there, aircon works well, interior is immaculate apart from the drivers side of seat in the usual place, it came with the original nissan radio and cd player but he's also given me a DVD player. Its got a bit of rust from being a UK spec but it passed the MOT with no problems in that area. I want to keep it stock and do a 'Funky Si' with it! I'm dont want to spend any money on upgrades, just on making it as nice as possible in stock form. It drives well really nice, its great to be in a nice comfy Zed. Cooling is excellent (replacement OEM rad not long ago); I got stuck in 2hrs of near standstill motorway traffic on the way home and it didn't miss a beat. I got Paul to put it in for an MOT before I picked it up and it failed on a front tyre (he replaced it) and rear pads. I've just taken it in for a retest and its also failed on some rear bushes on the bottom of the shocks, pretty minor job so alls good there and I'll have 12mths ticket tomorrow. As always you sit there wondering what issues you'll have :x: The clutch has been slipping on heavy load so I'm getting a new one tomorrow (bye bye £500  ). The other problem is that it has stalled a few times when manouvering today. The idle is at 650 rpm. When coming off throttle when parking, etc it will go down really low and then go back up to 650rpm. Sometimes it will go low and stall. I wondered if it is a sticky idle air valve (edit - AAC valve)? I thought about turning the base idle up but I don't think thats the actual problem as once its settled at idle it is solid and doesn't stall, its just after revving it. Anyone any ideas? edit - chuffed, just got it back and alls well. New clutch, 12mths ticket, the stalling was just gunked up throttle bodies :hyper:

Airfield / Instruction day
Airfield/instruction day 1 west sussex Dorset Jap car club have an airfield day with a couple of spare places due to drop outs. I'm going along in the rex and there's another place to fill. Is anyone on here interested? The day is part exercises to practice specific techniques such as skid control, weight distribution, heel and toe, etc and then onto a makeshift track to bring it all together. I've done a few of these days and also had driving instructin and its been extremely well worth it. I reckon you save the money just by the fact you are driving better and dont trash your car so much. They are great fun with no pressure, and you can explore the limits of the car and your driving skills without having to worry about hitting anything below is the post that the guy organising it did. There's only ten people so you get plenty of driving time and tuition. Last year I paid £250 per days instruction and then another couple of hundred for the use of a proving ground so this is very good value for what you get. Dave ---------------------------------------------------------- Hi, Due to a couple of drop outs I have a couple of tickets available for an airfield training day to be held at Ford airfield near Arundel in West Sussex on the 13th July. There will be just 12 cars there on the day so a decent amount of time on track is guarenteed. Details of the day here: http://s195757148.websitehome.co.uk/...20training.htm The fulll cost is £125 and I need the money by Monday 18th. For ease of payment I can supply you with a paypal link for the full amount to enable you to pay by card or paypal. If you are interested please email me at djccadmin@ntlworld.com ASAP. This is the perfect day for anyone who like myself has never driven the FD on track and want's to be eased in gently! Thanks, Rob.

whats my motor worth
Got to admit that I'd agree with Woz that you'd take a long time selling it at 6k. Although the fact that its a wide arch should help you get the 6k if you can wait for the right buyer. Maybe put it up for sale but mentally expect to keep it for a number of months? Autotrader is probably the best route as well.

Lands End To St Ives Run!
1st July after the Dyno day A few people have said that it would need to be a weekend so I've adjusted the post in the SW meet to reflect this. So far there's about 8 people with a couple being possibilities if its a weekend. It would be good to make it a decent size one if people are up for a little weekend holiday :hyper: edit - sorry for the confusion. We wanted to find what day was best for everyone but should have set a date earlier. As far as I can see the 1st is the best day for everyone.

St Ives to Sennen/Lands End Road meet anyone?
Ok, shall we go for the Saturday the 30th then? I've adjusted the first post. Can you post if you will deffo be coming, and also if you think you would want food, as myself or someone else will need to do some organising to make sure we get big enough car parks, and food etc is available. Ray suggested St Just, plus there's various other places on the route. A BBQ maybe?? If that sounds like a good idea let me know and I'll make some enquiries, may need to pay a few quid in advance. If we could find a good spot we could do a BBQ ourselves and I could sort the bits out. I'm sure I could manage ten or twenty burgers, chicken, veggie whatevers, without any problems and maybe get a quid or two off of each person on the day. I'll do a route check the week before and find some good spots, unless anyone already down there wants to take a look. 1. JonLowndes101 2. Royal - food 3. Shelton 4. MickybigZ 5. Retro620Ti 6. RayDetinu 6. Bantambunny - possibly 7. Zogg - possibly 8. Legrath - Possibly 9. Lisaf - possibly
