What that man said :) A gts-t doesn't compare to any of the other cars you mentioned in terms of performance. I have been in a couple of monster gts-t's that were heavily modded and they were great but a standard one was Yaaaaaawwwwnnnnnn. More reliable and easier to work on than a Zed though due to the straight six. Insurance is much cheaper in a Zed than the skyline or Rx7, not deffo but I think a Zed is group 18 whereas the others are group 20. I pay much the same for my Zed as I did on my BMW 525i. The Rex is a lot more.

Network printer
Have you got file sharing enabled on the laptop? I think this is what Belkin are talking about. Just because you have an internet connection doesn't mean you have allowed windows to share files, etc. Right click on the hard drive and go to sharing and security, enable file sharing. Not sure how it effects shared printers but probably the same :smash:

Whats the Ultimate £4k Car?
Silly question on a zed board :) but a Zed IMO is the best out there at that price. There are certainly alternatives: you could get a very good 200sx for that price which would be cheaper especially if you want to track it, you can also get a very nice BMW for that, I wouldn't go for an Rx7 or a skyline or a TT Supra as at that price you're likely to get a bad one. You can get as good a Zed for 4k as you would a Supra,Skyline or Rx7 for 6-7k.

Drifting day idea
If you're learning to drift its a lot cheaper to use their cars, especially when your car is a zed. You'll go through your tyres, your clutch will be heavily worn, brakes will be worn (not as bad as a trackday I guess),etc. All your bushes, trackrods, shocks, springs etc will get heavily punished and these things are normally in poor state on a high milage zed anyway due to the weight of the car. I don't mean to be half full as I love events like this, but just trying to be realistic for anyone who hasn't done a day like it before. Unless your car is set up for high performance driving and thrashabouts ie good suspension, brakes and cooling, it will hit your wallet very hard. Once you know the techniques then the punishment on the car is a lot less, but whilst learning the cars really get abused. Cars like 200sx are cheap and easy to replace all the bits that wear or break, hence why they are so popular for drifting. The Zed in high milage standard form isn't ideal for drifting. Much better to thrash their cars, learn the techniques, and then upgrade the Zed to a drifter with better cooling, tighter suspension, brakes, etc if you like it and feel commited, like Bubache has done.

Maccy D's
I can count the amount of times I've eaten in McDogsh*te on one hand, same for the other similar places. Horrible stuff. We do settle for something from the local chippy most weeks though when its too late to cook. My cooking skills don't go much further than stir frying everything though. I tried to make a lasagne for the first time in 10yrs last night, the missus said it was 'nice' as she removed the uncooked pasta from the top..!

Hello mate, I run a very high power single turbo Rx7 and a bog standard 300zxTT. I've had a couple of other Zeds, one 400bhp so can give a good comparison. If you want a car to drive fast round twisties and do track days etc then the Rx7 wins by miles, the weight distribution is perfect and it weighs half a tonne less than a Zed which makes every part of the car work better. On the other hand because its an uncompromised sports car it is loud, the ride is stiff and there is very little room in the cab. If you want a car that will drive for 500miles in comfort at very high speeds on motorways etc then the Zed wins by a long shot. I'd imagine a standard rx7 would be a lot comfier (sp?) than mine which has solid engine/diff mounts, 4inch exhaust, etc but I'd still much prefer the Zed for any long journeys. Horses for courses really, the Zed is a GT and the Rex is an uncompromised sports car. If you are looking at modding the car into a track tool then the rex makes a lot more sense. Older Rex's usually need a rebuild past 60k (£2-3k all inclusive) whereas a Zed will often need new turbos, clutch (£500),propshaft,etc between 60-100k. The Zed is more expensive to maintain in just about every area but makes up for it by being cheap to buy. If you want a decent rex you should look for a single turbo conversion already done with rebuild which are generally at least 6k, more for a good one. Cheap examples of either car as standard have a multitude of annoying things that can go wrong and sap your bank account: with rex's its the 'rats nest' that controls the twin sequential turbos and the poor cooling that can cause overheating (hence engine rebuilds at 60k), with the zed its the very hot engine bay cooking the electrics and all the rubber tubes. Both cars are a blast to drive and have more character than the 4wd 3000GT.

Yummie, look what's parked outside my house.
I'd swap one for your Zed!

Poor idle, stalling
Boost leak?

Grounding Out.
Sounds like your shock are gone if its bouncy, but still odd that its grounding out. I've never grounded out on anything but really high speed bumps. Maybe the springs are knackered as well? My rex is lower than the Zed but stiffer and I have less problems with speed bumps.

Engine Issues At High Speed
If you are running the same power then I'd imagine the scooby would win because of 4wd and being lighter. It's a lot harder to launch a RWD properly, 4wd boys just put there foot to the floor and keep talking to their missus on their mobile. Not sure about the power loss at those speeds, its a bit odd. Sounds like either something with the limiters, or a strange safety boost problem, may be completely wrong though?

power loss when engines hot?
No clutch on an auto mate, but if there's a hydraulic fluid pressure problem you get the same problem as you mentioned. When I had my first Zeds auto box rebuilt I went to overtake someone and it just revved real high when I was parrellel with them and I lost power. Gave me a scare as there was a car coming the other way as well. Took it back and they sorted it for me.

Im going down to Cornwall for the first time
Well I grew up down there and lived there on off for 30yrs and the only reason I'd go near the A30 in the summer is to get there or to get away! Its a great Zed road if you drive it either early in the morning or late at night as the roads are clear then, otherwise its a nightmare. There are loads of good roads along the coasts. St Just is near some of the best roads around. The route from St Ives to Lands End is beautiful and a great drive. The route from Lands End back to Penzance is a great blast, be wary first time though as its quite demanding with some unexpected tight bends after fast straights and a few areas prone to being wet from rain run off.

power loss when engines hot?
Is it an auto or manual? sure its not a auto gearbox/manwell clutch related issue?

Anybodys on here??
That rear pipe looks odd in the pictures. Could be a nice car though otherwise. Nice interior, etc. Maybe the stripes look better in real life? No phots of the engine though but sounds like it may have had a rebuild so thats good as well. The tone of the description doesn't really fill me with confidence though, wonder what the engine looks like?

Clarkson in trouble over 'skidmarks'
Haha, what a joke. Its great reading the other articles re topgear and clarkson as well. Glad the BBC is standing up to the idiots making complaints. If you don't like it don't watch it! Doh; simple as that!

What's an induction kit.
The Apexi is also about the only aftermarket filter that can cope with the UK weather. Most filters let a little water in that burns out the MAF (can't remember the price but £150?), the Apexi is the most proven to not do that. I had a HKS mushroom and burnt my MAF out, I then had a Blitz sus burnt another MAF out!, I then had an APexi and all was dandy. By the way, I DID have a splash guard.

stalling problem
Check the online manual mate (do a search). There's various diagnostics in there. Its probably the idle air valve assembly (called something like that, a small collection of solenoids that do the idling) on the back passenger side of the engine.

would rear cranK seal cause smoKe to appear from exhaust
What that man said. Its hard work getting to them but isn't compicated. The main problem is from cooked hoses. Its almost definate your pcv valve hoses will not be re-usable so buy new ones now. If you are only intermitently smoking on idle and not on boost (when putting the loud pedal to the floor) then pcv valves are the first call.
