  1. Wow thats a nice picture of the Ferrari. Its always horses for courses or me. Zed for the road, esp long journeys. Rex for the fast twisties and tracking. They both do what they say on the tin for me. I think its easy to overlook what they are made for.
  2. What that man said re turbos and Decatting. FunkySi - Got new (reconned) tubs on my new Zed.
  3. Good call. My new UK spec has 120k on the clock and going strong as well :) Thought I had a dodgy gearbox recently but it was just a loose/off place exhaust hanger so happy days.
  4. Depends what you are going to do in it mate. I've got Hawk race pads on the rex and they are stupidly good. Almost as good as or better than normal pads when cold, when warmed up they are incredible. Not cheap at £120 but well worth it and I'd certainly stick them on my Zed if I had GTR calipers. They also do road pads which I rated as well, I'd deffo use them again. The DS2500 are also good road pads I believe, I think I had them on my old Zed at one point.
  5. The amount of power you are getting out of such a small engine is incredible Karl. The thing must be practically hovering after a hard run. Mind you my rex is technically a 1.3 :)
  6. (Haha erm yes er) I got it for a young relation as well ( cough cough burp fart ahem!)
  7. I did that. Went out and sold my Zed to get something else more extreme and performance orientated, but then missed having the Zed for the speedy comfort and roof off action (not that there's been any summer). Its all very well having speed and handling (not that the zed doesn't have them, just that I wanted something more track orientated) but I missed the Zed experience on the road. They are so cheap now that you might as well have both! The Zeds still more expensive or tricky to maintain though! I thought my gearbox was dodgy on the new Zed but it turned out it was just a loose exhaust hanger. To get a new gearbox would have been £500. I can blow the rex's gearbox and get another for £250. Same prices for the clutches. I replaced the Zeds one when I got it as it felt slippy and it was £500 :0 Still its still worth while and I appreciate it for its GT abilities much more now I'm not hankering for something faster.
  8. The Picoo Z radio controlled helicopter for £20 haha! best distraction from work I've ever had. Almost as good as forums!! Got it from Maplin here: http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=220841&TabID=1&source=1&doy=25m7 You've got to tune it a bit to make it fly right. You set the trim up until it doesn't spin on itself. Then go forwards by kind of waving it right and left a little bit. Its not easy and I've not really got it yet but its great fun crashing it horribly! doesn't seem to break either. All the body is polystyrene! It only lasts ten minutes then you have to plug it into the controller to charge it up again.
  9. I know how you feel mate. I've had the same problems trying to find people I can trust nearby. I found a guy down the road who was a good bloke and ex F1 so seemed to know his stuff but I got raped for labour hours. I now go all the way to Hastings simply because I've found a good bloke who I trust. He runs a run of the mill MOT garage and isn't a Zed specialist but he knows his stuff and has a lot of experience, plus customer service has been excellent so I'll keep going back.
  10. Oh, fair one then :) I stand corrected.
  11. Must be pretty hard to do from the top? no space and all that. Its hard enough getting to the pcv valves on the side. What does the manual say for them? I don't think they are fobbing you off mate, if you can do them from the top they probably don't think its worth there while. Lots of places are like that once they see the engine bay of a Zed.
  12. Yep, I think thats right as well. Easy way to check is to pull the coil pack connector on each one in turn. When you take the connector off you will hear the engine note change as it loses that cylinder. If the engine note doesn't change then thats the one.

Hi guys. I can't remember who is the club events person at the mo. Can we do a club thing for Rotorstock 4? its a very good day with plenty of action as most will all ready know. You can take your car down the strip, you can go drifty drifty, etc or you can watch others have a go. It needs supporting as its purely Jap now, a very good day, and not chaved up like many events at the moment. Here is a message from the organiser. If anyone has questions they should be on the rotorstock website, but feel free to ask me and if I can't answer I'll find out. Tickets are cheaper in advance, but still a good price on the day. Names: Royal Hello all, We would like to invite your club to a unique Show and Go event that we are holding not just for our club but for all of the Japanese car community. Just like your Japanese car club we have heard the complaints about the Jap shows at Santa Pod but at this meeting WE are organising this event the way we believe a pure Japanese car event should be held with queuing cut down to as little time as possible, so by having NO Jet cars, bikes or any other “Demo” stuff clogging up the track just Japanese cars with Japanese engines you will get Max track time. With unlimited RWYB runs on the strip for £20 on the Saturday from 1pm till 9pm giving us night time Drags, with action all day while we look for the fastest 2 “Wild cards” from each of the classes that will go through to the Rotorstock Drag Championship the next day that also incorporates a round of the HKS series, This also means we will have all the top Drag cars running across the whole weekend. With sponsorship from Opie Oils, Santa Pod Raceway, MRP and Mazdarotaryclub this means the biggest ever prize fund of £2000 that will be divided between the Drag winners across the two days. This is an event for all Jap car enthusiasts so you just like to Show then we have teamed up with Meguiars to bring you a Show competition or if you like Drift we have something very special. For the first time ever by teaming up with Driftworks we are taking competitive twin Drifting to Santa Pod with the Rotorstock Drift Championships where the winner will walk away with a trophy and a £1300 clutch from Exedy, not only that you can have a go yourself if you wish because we are running RWYB drift as well for just £20 per day. Rotorstock grew out of the static car shows that the Japanese car community grew up with and takes all the best from Show,Drag and Drift and puts them all together in one action packed meeting aim just at YOU and your love of Japanese cars. Don’t miss out on the only real Show and Go event of the year in Europe just for our Japanese cars that is run by a car club full of enthusiasts just like your club for you and us to give us all an Action packed weekend like never before. Lastly if you thought this was just for our Mazdarotaryclub club members then read this, The Skyline-owners club said last year “Rotorstock is their best event of the year” and Jap n Crazy car club said this year, “I’ll go, it was by far the best show last year....” With just 2 weeks to go you will need to book your club in real quick to be part of this unique event and you can contact Santa Pod on 01234 782828 or buy your tickets online at http://www.SantaPodShop.com. For more details go to http://www.Rotorstock.com
  15. The whole power band thing is a non-starter really as its like any car, you just drive it to its strengths. It'll be like any big single turbo setup (don't know whats on the Evo but you get my drift?). Besides if the engine isn't singing at 5k then its not being drove like it should be!? The Zed may be pretty good out of its power band with its V6 and TT's but its still crap compared to the way it drives if you keep it around 5k and match your gears and all that stuff. As for how you'll do against the EVO, I think it will rape you on the drag and the twisties simply due to the gearing and 4wd and weight difference. He wont have to do anything other than put his foot down and steer. The car will do the rest for him. Not my cup of tea personally but I'd love to try one out. You'll be able to reel him in once you are over 100mph but then there will be another corner so you'll have to start again haha.
  16. Oh dear. I seem to see fatal accidents every week on the M25 now, sick of seeing things tbh. Its even more terrible when its one of the community. RIP.
  17. England : The English are feeling the pinch in relation to recent terrorist threats and have raised their security level from "Miffed" to "Peeved." Soon, though, security levels may be raised yet again to "Irritated" or even "A Bit Cross." Londoners have not been "A Bit Cross" since the blitz in 1940 when tea supplies all but ran out. Terrorists themselves have been re-categorized from "Tiresome" to "A Bloody Nuisance." The last time the British issued a "Bloody Nuisance" warning level was during the great fire of 1666. France : The government announced yesterday that it has raised its terror alert level from "Run" to "Hide." The only two higher levels in France are "Surrender" and "Collaborate." The rise was precipitated by a recent fire that destroyed France 's white flag factory, effectively paralyzing the country's military capability. Italy : Italy has increased the alert level from "Shout Loudly and Excitedly" to "Elaborate Military Posturing." Two more levels remain: "Ineffective Combat Operations" and "Change Sides." Germany : They also increased their alert state from "Disdainful Arrogance" to "Dress in Uniform and Sing Marching Songs." They also have two higher levels: "Invade a Neighbour" and "Lose." Belgium : Belgians, on the other hand, are all on holiday as usual, and the only threat they are worried about is NATO pulling out of Brussels Spain : The Spanish are all excited to see their new submarines ready to deploy. These beautifully designed subs have glass bottoms so the new Spanish navy can get a really good look at the old Spanish navy. The Swiss have taken the phone off the hook
  18. I think that looks really classy. The photo with the roof up doesn't do much for it but I bet it would look better in the flesh.
  19. Have you tried running with the MAF unplugged? it will run as normal but the revs will be very restricted. Worth while if you havn't got another MAF to try in the meantime.
  20. I see one everyday. Always chuffed its on my drive :)
  21. Thanks for trying Vini. They are probably both trashed at JAE lol!
  22. Likewise mate, I was going to pick some wheels up at JAE but I havn't gone so was hoping someone might be able to bring them down this way for me (SE). Hopefully he'll get the message, otherwise will just use snail-mail.
