quick question for n/a owners
4 Miles!?!?? and he drives a car! in London...and he is considering driving a zed four miles every day in London. One of the worst things for an engine is short commuting drives everyday, he wont even bother warming it up because it will take longer than the drive and he'll get lazy ! Tell him how much it costs you, and add a couple of miles per gallon. Then tell him also its £500 every 6 mths to a year for tyres, etc etc etc. Don't mean to sound slating but it really shouldn't be a worry whether he can afford the petrol for 4 miles a day. What happens when things go wrong or the car needs maintainence? it'll end up in the drive getting rusty.

slightly concerned.
IMO, at the end of the day its down to the person, not the job, and how professional they are and how selfless they are. Most people have said 'oh f*ck it' and taken a short cut or been lazy in order to finish earlier, or maybe been a bit of an arseh*le to someone at work. The police are always accountable to the public so the stakes are much higher. I'll always have respect for people in uniform after being a Marine. I know how hard it can be in that position and the responsibilities and stresses that come with it. However the situation with traffic speed laws just doesn't do anything to help the traffic police and their relationship with the public. I don't envy the people who do that thankless job. Don't particuarly like them either at the moment!! Lol!! (9 points, all from the motorway, cheers!). The police are essential and its a shame there arn't more of them about the streets these days. I like the idea of the local bobby on the beat who knows the locals. Welcome to the forum DirtySanchez! Hope you have a good Zed time! Maybe meet you at one of the SE meets sometime?

someone is selling pics of YOUR car!
Don't mean to start an argument but why give a f*ck if someone is trying to make a quick few quid? He can have pictures of mine if he wants. If may be a bit scheming but theres plenty else to worry about out there than someone making a few quid and not giving any to the owner of the car. I remember trying to get as many phots of Zeds as I could when first buying. It would be quite handy being able to get a CD with them already on. Obviously it would be better to join 300zx.co.uk and get them like that though! Dave

Warning: Newbie Q's
Oh lets have the link bud! You like it? Thought the surf one of me was getting a bit long in the tooth and nothing to do with Zeds! Dave

Warning: Newbie Q's
Its probably easier to get back control of a zed when the rear goes than it is an MR2. The MR2s whip round due to the weight in the rear.

thinking of getting rid. . . .
There's a few good r32 gtr's about for 6k ish if you can stretch. Probably wont be long till they are 5k I reckon. You'll probably regret a gts after having a TT Zed. There are some fast ones about though and some people prefer the rear wheel drive instead of the snazzy four wheel on the gtr. Rx7's are lovely cars, you should get an already rebuilt one, one of the most uncompromising sports cars around. You wont get one for 5k unless you are very lucky. Mind you my mate recently got one for 2.5k because it wasn't running right and was about to 'go'. Turned out it was just a vacuum pipe come off! 3000gto TT are not a very popular choice, and the Zed is always considered better. Not that I've ever drove one though. Supras are too expensive (because, dare I say it, they usually age better than Zeds. Although not in the looks department IMO!). How about an s14? as said or even a well modded s13 with some cash to spare? Probably best to get another Zed eh?!

Gigabit routers & networking
Actually Dunk I think I'm giving you mis-leading info. I'm pretty sure the ethernet ports would work like a switch on those routers anyhow. So the one you suggested is probably a good solution. Sorry to ar*e around like I know what I'm on about! (I'm only a networking pro, currently up to my eyeballs in a new job by the way! can't see the wood for the trees). Chri*st ,I'm mumbling sh*t tonight! I'm off to bed cause I feel stupid. :x:

Gigabit routers & networking
Ah, I've just re-read the post. I didn't quite realise what you were getting at. I can't flash any figures at you but I'm sure that upgrading to gig NICs and with the 4 gig ports on that router you'll have very noticable benifit. Maybe its worth considering a good gig switch if you are looking at throughput for large files rather than just a router? I'm not sure of these particular devices but routers process at a higher level than switches so wouldn't have the throughput that a switch would have. You could just plug your current router into the switch then. I guess the faster wireless is still missing though.

Dealer in Birmingham - World of Cars
Different area but I remember going to a guy in slough who advertised 'an excellent condition Zed, best condition I've seen, and I've seen a few son!'. I travelled several hundred miles in all and it was in his drive with a few other dodgy looking cars. It was the biggest heap I've ever seen even to this day. Rusted to bits, terrible. I think he was called platinum cars or something. There seems to be a few dealers with similar names, he was an asian bloke, a complete liar full of BS. Me and my mate nearly filled him in for being such an ars*hole.

Gigabit routers & networking
If you have a particular reason for speed (file transfers, games etc) then use cables if you can. As said above wireless just doesn't cut it in these situations. Plus as the signal degrades various overheads cut in to make sure the signal is still as it should be, making it many times worse again as you go further away from the access point (wireless source). The routers normally have a few ethernet ports on them, maybe you could use these for the pc's that you need the speed with and the wireless for laptops or whatever.

It`s kicking off!!!
I reckon the reason it went like it did was because he couldn't sell enough tickets to cover it. The most obvious thing to me is £4100 ebay auction + £1500 (75 ticket at £20 a pop) = £5600, roughly what he wanted for the car. His mate gets a cheap car. Maybe I'm being suspicious, but probably not! Dave

Bugatti Veyron Raffle, only £50 a ticket.
http://www.ultimatejapcars.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=13741 I can truthfully recommend this to everyone, its definately not a scam. He's got a zed after all. Yours sincerely Dave :smw:
