Yeah ,same with my missus. She's doing a bit of website design at the moment and starting to notice the lack of power but it does the job and costs less than my tyres! and it'll last longer than my tyres too!!

Pk recommended a place for my missus to get a laptop at that price. Can't fault it. It does what it says on the can, and she loves it. Slow as fook though and makes more noise than my Zed (and gets hotter) but thats what you get at that price. Certainly as good as or better than any other at that price.

There's a few mouthy ones on there, but its in good humour, I did a trackday with UJCC last year and it was a great day. Everyone was fully sound, also there's a few ex zed owners (and a few current).

PK usually knows whats available at the moment. But basically mate it always comes down to the price bracket you want to pay: £1500-£2000 - Top specs, you'll pay a premium but get the best but it'll only be a week before its tomorrows mid-price. £1000-£1500 - Last weeks top spec, but now down to a reasonable price. Still going to last a year or two and will play all the latest games if you choose wisely £800-£1000 - Still pretty good quality but wont last so long before it starts to chug a bit. Probably wont be able to play the latest games unless you turn the graphics settings down. The magic number is around a grand as you can get a laptop with good quality components (HDD,etc), and with plenty of power. You should get a good graphics card and plenty of memory,etc,etc at this point.

I hate the f*ckers, I've got plans for some down in cornwall if I get a chance. They've really started taking the p*ss over the last few years. £60 parking fines for locals when the average wage down there is less than £150. So many people have been writing into the local papers and council over miss-treatment by the clampers.

My mates dad is a travel agent. He's going to have a look and get back for the weekend-ish. No promises though as these days you can get pretty much anything on the internet anyhow, so he'll probably have the same problems as you. Dave

Tbh I've never seen a windows repair actually work. If I was nearby I could get an XP disc to you but I'm down in Kent now. I can send you one if you can't get one locally. Unfortunately it may be a symptom of something a bit more drastic as said such as knackered hard drive, etc.

Pmsl, I did that midway through the start of a very pressured deployment in Norway! Rebooted the server after installing some software and thought I'd killed it. Nearly had a heart attack till we spotted the floppy in the drive.
