Scared the SH*T out of me !!!
It turns out that the front near side brake line runs beneath the battery tray and sits on a shoulder of the inner wing. It's a moisture trap. There's a dog leg in the way the line is run that puts it right in the wrong place. On Wednesday last week on my way to Halfords to buy a car cover I was on the A3 and my brakes failed COMPLETELY ! The brake line has rusted through and let go with no warning. Mine's an auto so I had to click back to 2 and 1 from D and then into N and apply the handbrake. It's not something I'll want to repeat ! So I would urge everyone - particularly if your car has been standing a while like mine was - to check this line for corrosion and replace it if it looks even slightly the worse for wear! It's taken two full days to remedy this and it's a real PITA to do. It's slightly taken the gloss of the moment on Tuesday a guy chased me down on the motorway and shouted "That is ******* awesome !"

Rear three-quarter glass rubbers
I was worried you'd say that damn :-(
-
Rear three-quarter glass rubbers
I bought replacement trims that run along the bottom of the glass but I'm hoping I can get the rubbers that run down the back of the glass - the curved bit. When you remove the old trim unfortunately a small piece of rubber that covers the end gets torn off as it's invariably fused itself to the lower trim - maybe some kind of vulcanisation ? - - - Updated - - - Sorry I should have said I already had the lower trims.

Rear three-quarter glass rubbers
This may be hoping beyond hope but can anyone confirm if the rubbers for the rear three-quarter glass are available as a separate part ? There're obviously manufactured separately so perhaps they might be sourced from wherever Nissan sourced them ? Of course that assumes Nissan outsourced them :-) Has anyone tried with Nissan in Japan ? Thanks guys

Almost there......
Got a message from Jimmer that my car passed its MOT this morning ! He's just putting the final bits of trim back on and it's done !!!! I'm so excited to get it back ! In equal measure I'm gutted I can't get to Beaulieu.....apparently I have a family event I'm obliged to attend which is far more important. So I'm looking forward to the Boxhill-to-Brighton run as my first outing. Pics to follow when it's home.

1st time owner
Mine's a '95 JDM TT and the boost gauge is also absent. It was the first thing I noticed when I jumped in it at Southampton docks and I honestly thought I'd been had and bought an N/A !!! Had a VERY quick look under the bonnet I can tell you !

Restoration update
Thanks guys. The bodywork was done by a guy Jimmer knows......I've basically entrusted my car to him.

Restoration update
Getting there........ So yesterday my car was delivered back to Jimmer from the paint shop ! The guy that painted it said it's so white and bright that you can't look at it in the sunlight ! Exactly what I wanted :-) He's done the roof bars in black to give it that seamless look front to back, and the 'moustache' and mirror mounts are in a graphite metallic to compliment the wheels and Jimmer said it looks great ! Had a long chat with Jimmer today and he's now refitting numerous interior and exterior bits and pieces and then it's MOT time. I didn't ask for a timescale or completion date as I don't want to put any pressure on him, although I'm hoping I can make the Beaulieu event at the end of the month. I do have pictures of the process from delivery to bodywork reconstruction, Jimmer work on the engine and brakes, and some of the paint shop's work. I'd like to post a series once it's finished. Almost there.............

Z32s at auction
Is there a data resource anywhere that correlates the car with the hammer price ? Some of those are gorgeous and it would be interesting to know what they go for. Unless it says so in that Japanese data sheet ?

8K-Mile '94 Twin Turbo in US Auction
Yes sorry my bad.....I should have expanded the image of the Carfax report although it's odd that the advert states previous records are unavailable. So basically it hasn't been driven since 2014 and only 4 services.

8K-Mile '94 Twin Turbo in US Auction
Whilst I don't doubt the mileage looking at the condition, two questions...... No history ? If it's been a cherished car or part of a collection surely it would come with such details ? If you owned such a car as we all do, why would you NOT drive it ? The two questions are somewhat juxtaposed but neither seems to present a sensible answer. Just my tuppence worth.

Restoration update
Indeed Andrew.....and you haven't met my Bank Manager (Mrs) either ! :-)

Restoration update
Progress report..... So today I delivered a box load of exterior trims to Jimmer. Essentially all the exterior trim including a new third brake lite and the t-top centre bar. I just felt that because it's being resprayed it would be a false economy to make any attempt to re-use any of the original trim......but GOSH it's expensive when you add it all up !!! I also sourced new front bumper supports from ZCentre as the originals had returned to their natural state of nice brown iron ore :-) its worth mentioning if anyone else is thinking of replacing these two parts that they use clips that are NLA with Nissan so be careful to retain them when removing th sold supports. As I type, the car is off at the paint shop getting its new suit. When I committed to this I knew it wouldn't be a quick process and I was happy with that but as it gets closer to completion I can't wait to get it back ! I will post pics when I get it back......

Blue Convertible 300ZX
Yes ! Looking back I'm not sure what was going on ! I don't even smoke (anything) or drink so no excuse there ! I'm just gonna say I was much younger then....... Mind you they did need a refurb which I seem to remember was going to be quite expensive as they were split rims, and I had just bought new 19's for the 350Z I was tooling around in at the tine which they were off, so it definitely didn't seem that big a deal.

Breaker rant
I have to say that will be my policy from now on too.

Blue Convertible 300ZX
Hi Andrew Looking back I cant believe I GAVE Mark a set of 18" genuine BBS LM's on the basis that he also took a set of JDM original wheels off me to clear my garage out a bit !!! WHAT WAS I THINKING !!!!! Did he ever finish the TT conversion ?

Breaker rant
Hi Ian Yes indeed and I most definitely am ! I bought it via eBay and then used PayPal (my daughters a/c to be fair) but she assures me there is full recompense available as we went through those mediums. - - - Updated - - - Hi Pete Yes.....thankfully.

Breaker rant
So I've been hunting high and low for a '93+ drivers door for my '95 car which is at Jimmer's pending a respray. I finally found one in Scotland of all places on Gumtree at a breakers. "Yes it's from a +94" "Yes it's completely rust free" the guy tells me. £80 +£50 shipping. Seems a bit steep but no choice so do the deal. I find out yesterday from Jimmer that it is a '89-'92(optimistic at best that it's a '92) and very rusty indeed !!! So it's completely useless for me ! WHY THE F cant people be honest ??? He MUST have known it would be completely obvious that it was NOT what he told me it was !! Rant over - sorry !

Automatic gearboxes upgrades/options
Good points. I guess it was thoughts around 'modernising' the car. I spoke to the ESS guy and he said he's not offering the kit anymore as some parts are no longer.

Automatic gearboxes upgrades/options
Saw in an earlier thread that the auto box runs the car at 70mph at 2600rpm. My car is away at the moment so I can't check but happy to accept that. So the question is can I make the car any more long-legged ? I was out in my wife's 118d BMW and at 70mph the engine is almost just ticking over and as such I'm guessing is therefore more economical ? Can you change ratios in an auto ? Alternatively, provided the mating plate can be fabricated and the input shaft matches, are there other gearboxes available ? I saw an article (which annoyingly I can't seem to find again) where the gear lever was eliminated and replaced by a solenoid mechanism in the transmission tunnel that created a SAW setup. I take this to mean that you could have a level-less centre console a-la current high end cars and thus creating options ? It's not on my list of priorities but any thoughts would be welcome. Mark
