  1. Wheels look good, car will be killer when it's done.
  2. Thank you Alic. cant respond to journals? thats rubbish. :-( how can people communicate and give advice and opinions on other peoples builds? :-/ Mex
  3. I've started a build thread if you guys want to have a look. http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?185772-Mex-Z-ican&p=1930279#post1930279 Will be a slow burner, but ill keep it updated. Mex
  4. Yeah, I know there is going to be a lot for me to learn from you guys in here, specially as the ZX is such a niche car, there isn't too much around, apart from in the US.
  5. Ps. Subscription all paid. As I'm sure I'll be draining you guys knowledge. Ha ha
  6. Thank you, I'll see if I need any bits. Jeff, thank you, I already have the rubber seal lined up, and part no for the fixings would be great if you have them, also have some 1/4 window trims on their way too. I wondered why it always reads cold, ha ha, not used to it. I need to check what type of rad and fan it is, but it's pretty big and as I said above, it always reads cold regardless. Thank you Stephen, I appreciate your input as well as Jeffs, as I am new to Z's as well as jap stuff, it is really helpful to see 2 sides to the argument. Feel so out of my comfort zone, as German cars is what I know. It's my 3rd car as I have the Jetta and a V6 mk4 golf daily, so although I don't want the car to blow up, I'm not dependent on it thankfully (another reason I made the jump over) but I do want it to be reliable, as I want to build it over winter to look as I want it, and then next year build a faster engine.
  7. Slick Pete you have done very well to break all that down. It is so hard to explain over text without units and set up in front of you. I would add that the right geometry set up can also do wonders to how the car feels and behaves even when the suspension set up is 100% as desired.
  8. Thanx Jeff. Seal and scuttle fixings were already on the list (any ideas in part number for fixings?) but I'll add filter and fan to the list too. Thanx for your help.
  9. Thank you all for the kind words. In terms of style, I think I want to keep it nice and clean in the same style as my old E36, but then again I might embrace JDM too the max and go all out. ha ha. I really dont know. Car is a manual NA model. and this is actually the photo I wanted to post last night of the engine bay. Untitled by Mexicanfab, on Flickr
  10. Thanx Jeff. Sills are all good and solid, has had a repair, but car is getting work anyway. I questioned the MOT history, but had it on the ramps and all good, so seems to me an ov r excessive tested on a bad day, as there is nothing more than surface rust to components like any other 23 year old car would have, and the only thing that needed attention was the sills at the rear, and they have been sorted. Body work, under seal and paint/wrap coming before end of year, so all good. Mex
  11. Mex and I had an E36! You guys might have seen it or remember it, depending how long you have been around. The Homie Kielan shot it 5 years ago.. :alright http://www.stanceworks.com/2012/08/an-afternoon-in-london-shooting-sergios-bmw-e36-m3/ That car I bought stock in mid 2010 and kept all the way through to late 2012, it was featured in PBMW before they ideally wanted "Stanced" cars on there and overall was one that I loved, but I fell out of love with cars a little, sold up, got engaged/married, and then slowly my balls tingled for cars again. 2013 I bought a mk2 golf gti, modified it in a week and then got bored of it, all in i had it 4 months.:rofl Untitled by Mexicanfab, on Flickr March 2015 saw my buy another mk2, a Jetta this time (sedan/coupe is where i feel at home) from a friend who was moving to the other side of the pond and grace you guys with his presence.. Untitled by Mexicanfab, on Flickr And to be a little predictable, I bought another set of 16" RSs and dropped the jetta on them. Untitled by Mexicanfab, on Flickr Once again I quickly grew bored of it, but this time I did not sell it, but instead put it away over winter and planed a make over as its weird home made 2 tone and tired red paint needed work.. Untitled by Mexicanfab, on Flickr So although I took my time about it, its finally looking a little more interesting and more period correct with 17" Venoms, and the colour but with a modern stance. Although I am still thinking of selling it, it has really re-ignited my interest in cars and modifying them. That being said, I pulled the trigger on a car I have wanted for years.. Untitled by Mexicanfab, on Flickr A 300zx Z32 has been on my wish list since before the e36 was purchased, I just didnt have the balls to step out of my German car background. Here is my collection day Vlog if you guys are interested in watching. I have plans for the z32, but for now I need to finish the jetta (still has a red hood and roof) and decide if to sell or keep, so I know what budget I have for the Z. Feels good to be back playing with cars. I will be paying my subscription tomorrow and hopefully making the most of this forum to really get my Z where i want it. Thanx for Reading. :alright Mex
  12. Amazing cars on offer in those auctions. Has anyone got a website for them? UK auctions or Japan? Thanx. Mex
  13. Is it junction 10? I think that's the one with a crazy long bend to enter or exit the motorway. Glad he is ok. But shame the car isn't. Stood up well to the impact tho.
  14. Hate it. Very dated look. The classic body lines are what makes the Z the great looking car it is. That just destroys it all.
  15. Shame really. I really want that front lip and the diffuser. :-(
  16. Let them refurb it and go from there. Once the wheel is fitted I doubt you will see a difference at all.
  17. As soon as I get mine. I will be every bit as involved and the next guy, as I always have been with every car I have and community I join. I also love the media and embrace it, so will be having the car shot regularly and video'd as I do always. One of the shots of my last car got over 35k likes on SuperStreet blog. So that level of exposure should hopefully help the brand. I really do not want to see it die and as me ruined above, people are obviously unaware of the potential compared to the normal supra/skyline/Evo/scooby shit.
  18. I have to say. From an outsiders point of view. This forum/community does fell slightly disjointed compared to the others I am/have been part of. Thing the fact the platform is so rare and there is very little if any interest from the general outsider/public does show in the lack of oem parts available and the stockists of aftermarket stuff too. Having never been to a dedicated zx meet but having been to plenty of jap shows, I do feel there is little support from the group, I have loved z32s since young and that's what attracts me to them, so I am always on the lookout for any at shows, but there rarely is any and defo nothing that seems like an organised turn out. Looking at buying my 1st Z and have been parts hunting, but it is so difficult over here as the US and Latin America seem to have all the share of supplier/manufacturers outside Japan and OZ a little too. Guess what I am tryin to say is, build up the community itself into a strong backbone for the platform before focusing on import/export or manufacturing of patterned pieces. If there is a weak backing from the group, it will always fail. Build a bond, raise the profile, increase demand and then go into business. That's how I would do it and have knows people to do it and be successful. My 2p. Mex
  19. CCTV has got you saved my man. Sorry to hear tho. Ps. No pics of damage?
  20. Seriously giving up? Wow. That's the poorest reason I have ever heard to give up. Surely if you are willing to start sayin, then you can put that effort in to source a good bodyshop to fabricate that for you?
  21. These with smooth bays look so so clean, makes a huge difference relocating all the crap from the sides.
