Revs Drop when braking
You'd really have to be going some Richard! To the extent that the main thing messing with your throttle bodies, would be the driver of the car in front!:taz:

Revs Drop when braking
TPS? That can do funny things at small throttle positions. If it were a manual I'd wonder if the clutch was dragging, so whatever the automatic version of that is, bad oil... bad torque converter. The little I think I know about automatics, is that they are sensitive to the quality of their oil, good and bad.

gearbox - auto or manual?? TT or NA?
I have a 2+2 targa TT, people will tell you they're a big heavy drag racer. They handle absolutely fine, or they can be made to handle well I should say. They might be heavy but they're plenty powerful to move the weight. The SWB cars can have less traction than the LWB. Secondly, Manual conversions. Like mine, an OEM quality swap, there are differences in cams and turbos, but they are still very powerful engines. It is no compromise having the small turbos they're awesome.

1992 NA manual gearbox damage + repair
I think refurbs tend to address bearings and synchros, not the gears themselves. You may be better off replacing it. However, speak to a specialist, they will know the answer, it may be possible to repair the gears, stop it getting any worse and then refurb it to a good standard.

Can anyone tell me what these are please.
They look the right size for that ^^^

HICAS - How does it work and what if it doesn't work?
I had to save mine from rust and dump valves, so yeah it's probably worth saving.

HICAS - How does it work and what if it doesn't work?
I didn't mean to cause offence and Joely was having a tounge in cheek pop at funky Si. My comment was more that I'm often dubious when I see an advert for any JDM performance car and some of the specifically mentioned selling points are not what I'd be pushing if I were selling. My reference to white was that his top line is "White Perll" My first skim read I thought he was saying "I have here for you, the White Peril!" I love white JDM cars. White NSX, dream car!

HICAS - How does it work and what if it doesn't work?
White peril indeed. Stuff painted red and dump valves :-/ Chip and exhaust... not convinced. HICAS is really quite subtle. I had mine on an on off switch for ages and it is pretty subtle. I drifted mine with it and without it and tracked it with and without it. It is slightly more consistent in all aspects of cornering without it. More of a difference with my NA back end is the gearing and the lightness. Good advice above. They don't tend to fail joints wear out. Some lockout systems retain those joints anyway. I think HICAS would be good for autocross, 40mph sharp turns in quick sucsession. And at high speed 80ish it stops those not really tight but slightly more than a kink corners feeling uncomfortable, it make the car turn more readilly with a lighter feeling nose. imo iirc.

CZP Zero Turbos
What do people think of these? They look to me to be oem housings with hrand new 2018spec CHRAs. They should be awesome with very little lag. Are those new wastegates too? And still journal bearings? They would fit my build perfectly! I imagine they will be pricey though!

A proper shop front, decent club... fridge magnets  or whatever.

I like richie's Ideas and yeah nips, just like that. I know Avatars and anonimity is part of forum tradition. But a more personal experience I think would be work. A proper front page for a person, when I click on "Nips" profile above, I get an information dump about where he has been. It should be a Pic of his car, a list of achievements, a little bio. Plans he has, a link to his build thread... Build threads should have a summary timeline too! Imagine that, so for me it would start in 2012, badge one sat right on the start line "Bought his first zed", then 2 days later, badge 2 "changed injectors" Some people would have awesome ones, with dead bits where they've run off to buy an evo for 9 months then come back :)

If we re did the site a little, with snazzier user profiles, how about about zedding commitment badges. Years of ownership, miles zedded, track days, and mechanical achiements too, plenum pulls, engine swaps. The Zed Nuts and Jimmers of this forum would be very well qualified. I think it may make people proudly post their work and have them coming back and feel like member of a group rather than a name on a list.

I try to keep active on this forum, I try and advise where I can particularly with new members. But perhaps part of the problem is the "what oil should I buy" threads. I don't mind answering 30 times, but we do suggest people search first then ask, now we have such a back catalogue of info there must be a reduction in new threads because people are searching. Quote possibly google directing them to our old threads. I have been meaning to add to my build thread for ages but it is really clumsy on my phone, it takes nothing to type for ages then lose it all by hitting back! I am not a social media person normally but I've shifted a little towards instagram which I really like. The forum works and is alright but it could be a little more 2018. A well done app with really simple picture uploads may help a little. It's a good idea (sadly) to close the "what did you do to your zed today" thread. We should encourage and organise proper individual "stories" or "project threads" make them easy to find and easy to make. I'll try to post more :)

Constant Backfires and some spluttering on idle
An ignition problem? Unburned fuel. Are you getting scorch marks on one side or the other?

A slow death
Good advice from Steve :thumbup1: Could definitely be a vac leak, it doesn't take much for them to run badly.
-
A slow death
I haven't driven an auto but don't you load the engine a little bit in drive so a rev dip would make sense? I could very well be wrong there. Does it drive alright? I've had many faults on my manual where it is "falling through" idle. So at roundabouts and stuff it has such a fragile idle it stalls in neutral. That is normally a boost or vac leak with mine. But it could be a lot of things.

Toyota Supra twin turbo
I'd not feel ripped off if I bought my car for £10'000. £20'000 I would, as you said, for that money you want a turn key and drive car like a stock ish R35 GTR. Capris are totally not worth their asking price either. Stupid money for a very hard to keep relatively low performance car.

Ev300zx
How on earth would you MOT that and do all the legal stuff?

Losing the love with the Z
Drive some other stuff, you will probably be reminded just how good your car is. If you do get yourself something else, if you can, keep both cars for a few months, so if there is a Corvette comedown after an initial honeymoon period, you can go back to your zed. It's be a shame for you to let your zed go. Imagine if whoever bought it turned it into a drift car  You'd probably rather drive it off a cliff yourself than see that done to it. :clover: p.s. My first thought was "Take it round a track, let it blow your head off." But didn't know if that's your bag.
