a fellow big chiller - what a top weekend! john peel was crap though - all that gabba shite he always plays. nightmares on wax live were probably the highlight for me, matthew herbert's big band were pretty impressive too.

Help!
dave me old mate - at it again are you? only just noticed this one and seeing as how you were the only one who beleived me/backed me up on the quizshow thread i thought i'd drop in for a bit of moral support. dave is correct (well i think so anyway) there are a total of 8 bottles shared between 3 people -> each person gets 8/3 bottles (or 2 2/3) the boy with 3 (or 9/3) bottles has 1/3 spare which he gives to the girl. the other boy has 5 (or 15/3) bottles so he has 7/3 spare which he gives to the girl. the girl has received 8/3 bottles of lemonade and has 8 sweets to give back. if the girl gives out 1 sweet for each 1/3 of a bottle she received then one boy gets 1 and the other gets 7. of course, the little girl may have cottoned on to the fact that little boys will hapilly share their lemonade time and time again if they think they are eventually going to get some sweets out of it - if she's takes after most of the female population she probably held on to them a little longer until she gots all the lemonade she could out of them!!! ste

you're not kidding, them things are almost as big as the stock wheel aren't they? my 2p's worth - i've always thought your wheels really suit your car but don't listen to me, go for what you like best! i'm sure you wouldn't have much trouble selling them (or even finding another z of your own to put them on) if you do decide to switch.

NZR - puzzle

NZR - puzzle
nope, its in one of three boxes when you make your choice yep if you were presented with two boxes in the first place then this would be perfectly true sort of, this changes the odds on one box to 0/3. the first is still 1/3 so the other must be 2/3
-
NZR - puzzle
ok then what if you put it this way. three choices, A B C, one is right, two are wrong. you choose A, it has a 1/3 probability of being write. you are left with a 2/3 chance that it is B or C you are told its not B so that means there is a 2/3 chance it is C 2/3 is better odds that 1/3 so you change your answer to C its right, i promise :D

NZR - puzzle
congratulations dave (and pete in the end) - it is better to swap. its already been explained pretty well but in a nutshell: three boxes, A B C contestant picks box A, it has a 1/3 chance of winning box B is then shown to be empty but this does not change te odds of the original bet the choice then becomes 1/3 that the prize is in box A or 2/3 that the prize is not in box A the only other option is box C so the odds of it winning are 2/3

NZR - puzzle
ok then, since we've all got our brains warmed up on stu's thread, lets see what you guys make of this one... a contestant on a gameshow is asked to pick one of three mystery doors. behind one of the doors is a prize (don't know what but i'm sure its dead good!) after the contestant picks one of the doors, the host then opens one of the doors that wasn't picked to reveal that there is nothing behind it. the contestant is then offered the choice to stay with his/her original choice or switch to the other one. does the contestant have a better, worse or equal chance of winning if he/she chooses the other box? discuss.

NZR - Are you smart enough ?
if there is any difference then i reckon that flying west would be fastest because is is the opposite direction to the one the world spins in. i.e. world is going ----------> you are going ----------> the rate at which you are moving in relation to a point on the earth's surface is equal to your speed - the speed of the earth's rotation if world is going ----------> you are going the rate at which you are moving in relation to a point on the earth's surface is equal to your speed + the speed of the earth's rotation the higher you fly, the more of a difference it would make. i'm probably wrong but who cares?

Narrow escape
