  1. don't make a claim! (unless you're actually injured that is) one of the reasons our insurance premiums are through the roof is that so many grabbing bstards are claiming compensation for anything they can - the money has to come from somewhere. i know there is the argument that lots of people do it so one more claim wont hurt but that doesn't make it right! the advice above from adi c is probably very good advice (i.e. taking photos etc) but only if you have a genuine claim. slightly unrelated but, there was a case recently in manchester where the accident group (who have just gone bust coincidentally) filed something like 100 claims for compensation after a bus crash where there were only 12 passengers(numbers are probably wrong here but the story is true). they were phoning people up to get them to say they were on the bus so they could get a few hundred quid out of the bus company. i've been stopped in the street recently by someone working for a claims company and asked if i had any recent injuries that i want to claim compensation. my grandparents live about 3 miles away from a new stretch of motorway that has just been finished and they get at least one call a week at the moment asking if they want to sue for noise pollution and loss of value to their house. it really winds me up the way these companies prey on greedy people! anyway, b19rks i hope you and your brother are ok and don't need to make a claim. sorry for going a little off-topic :D

aaah, so he's an assasin - didn't think you could afford all those mods just working doors! :D
  3. i'll have to own up to only possesing a miserly 28" but i do a lot better when it comes to stereo equipment. my two bedroom flat contains no less than 5 record decks, 7 cassette decks, 9 cd players, 2 cd burners, 4 minidisc recorders and a couple of tuners (can't remember the last time i listened to the radio though)

 apparently, i am due 56.5 years at her majesty's pleasure, almost 10k in fines and possibly execution but i'm still "too good" at only 50% impure - i'm doing my best but just how bad do they want me to be?

    LOL :D
  6. just read that link - i think "heel & toe" was what i meant in the first place!
  7. thanks ajay, i'd heard people mention it but never really knew what it meant and couldn't see what the point was. i will experiment with what you mentioned. lets hope i have more success than with my occaisional attempts at left-foot braking - i normally end up headbutting the windscreen a few times after over applying the brake and then giving up feelling quite silly. i blame it on having ridiculously large feet, its nothing to do with lack of coordination or practice! ste
  8. can anyone explain to me the theory behind double de-clutching (is that the right word?) and how you do it? please thank you ste
  9. i agree - i think its the rear wheel arches that do it

not entirely sure but i beleive that the ratio of cost (in £'s sterling) per gramme of beef is particularly large - it could be that?!
  11. i do my very best to avoid big brother at all costs, it already amazes me that they are still doing it - i think it was an excellent idea first time round that was very sucessful and as a result has been milked for all its worth by the people who make it. it is not actually entertaining television anymore - people watch it in the hope they will see someone fighting/arguing/shagging and people enter into it in the vain hope of landing a presenters job on a third-rate cable tv gardening/diy/chat show. if i had my way, the next time they do auditions, they should bomb wherever it is they are being held and rid the world of a load of annoying wannabes who would do anything to be on tv. i don't have anything against anyone who has a genuine talent for something but i despise all these people who are willing to go and spend two months living in a house not being able go anywhere, having nothing to do except for some lame task once a week, being filmed for national tv every time you have a crap, and living with 9 other tossers who share your craving for 15 minutes of fame! oops, got a bit acrried away there, that program just makes me violent. ste
  12. a gypsy/nomad/transient type character who probably dresses like an asylum seeker but has more money than anyone you know

  16. that's just reminded me of another one - my mum went to a royal garden party at buck' palace in the 70s and prince charles himself told her she was wearing a "very pretty dress" as he walked down the line shaking hands. just think - if she'd have played her cards right i could be the heir to the throne!!!
  17. damn, i thought that one would even impress macca with his famous spouse - it certainly impressed me when i was a kid!
  18. all you it bods out there might find this amusing, the less it literate among you most likely won't! its an old one but still cracks me up. : /* : TOP SECRET Microsoft© Code : Project: Chicago™ : Projected release-date: Summer 1998 : */ : #include "macos.h" : #include "win31.h" : #include "win95.h" : #include "evenmore.h" : #include "oldstuff.h" : #include "billrulz.h" : #define INSTALL = HARD : char make_prog_look_big[1600000]; : void main() : { : while(!CRASHED) : { : display_copyright_message(); : display_bill_rules_message(); : do_nothing_loop(); : if (first_time_installation) : { : make_50_megabyte_swapfile(); : do_nothing_loop(); : totally_screw_up_HPFS_file_system(); : search_and_destroy_the_rest_of_OS/2(); : hang_system(); : } : write_something(anything); : display_copyright_message(); : do_nothing_loop(); : do_some_stuff(); : if (still_not_crashed) : { : display_copyright_message(); : do_nothing_loop(); : basically_run_windows_3.1(); : do_nothing_loop(); : do_nothing_loop(); : } : } : if (detect_cache()) : disable_cache(); : >>> : if (fast_cpu()) : { : set_wait_states(lots); : set_mouse(speed, very_slow); : set_mouse(action, jumpy); : set_mouse(reaction, sometimes); : } : /* printf("Welcome to Macintosh"); */ : /* printf("Welcome to Windows 3.11"); */ : /* printf("Welcome to Windows 95"); */ : printf("Welcome to Windows 98"); : if (system_ok()) : crash(to_dos_prompt); : else : system_memory = open("a:\swp0001.swp", O_CREATE); : while(something) : { : sleep(5); : get_user_input(); : sleep(5); : act_on_user_input(); : sleep(5); : } : create_general_protection_fault(); : }
  19. yep, thats the one! ...oh, and another, this has got to be a winner! my mum was the on-set nurse when they were filming flash gordon (no, not that one - i said "flash" not "flesh") she said she treated brian blessed for a burn from a special effect and he was a total baby about it!!!
  20. i met howard marks (infamous dope smuggler/pothead/author) at the manumission motel in ibiza a few years ago. i was a naive 17 yr old at the time and man did that place freak me out, has anyone been? i'm talking about the hotel run by the people who do manumission - not the club night! a gang of us were given tickets to get into this place by a midget that we met out one night. when we arrived there was a dwarf and a transvestite on the door, we went through to the bar which was tiny and had water dripping from the ceiling and a pole in the corner. we all got a drink and sat down - feeling pretty uncomfortable because everyone else seemed to know each other. then a girl came out and started pole dancing and nobody even batted an eyelid. when she was finished she went over to the bar naked and had a drink and a chat with the people stood there. we'd heard all these mad rumours about the parties that go on at this place and after an hour started thinking "is this it". then we went to investigate and and found a staircase that just kept on spiraling up and up. eventually we came out on the roof which was all decked out with fake grass, palm trees, hammocks and little beach huts and a bar. it was amazing - the maddest place i've ever been - then to complete the evening i met one of the worlds most famous drug dealers! sorry for the massive post and slight thread-hijack but i think its a good story. (it sounds betterwhen i tell it in person - promise!)
  21. good on her! - bet you two don't get many looks cruising in the stilton beast with the t-tops off then do ya!

  23. LOL - that could mean one of two things. either your good lady is very famous or that you don't think its safe to let her in the kitchen! anyway, my mate is in hollyoaks... ...oh..and another mate's band were on tv the other week... i've got about a million (honest!) other questionable connections to minor celebrities but i can't think of any at the moment ste
  24. typo - should have read "i'm easily the most annoying new member in months"
  25. he could also tell him from me that he's a twat - a knee to the groin wouldn't be wasted on him either. he's one several people i have an irrational hatrid of... now where's that jamie oliver gone?
