Two different CO2 readings
Cheers Steams, I am inclined to agree. I do hope that some of the experts as you say will post their thoughts. I really want to know for sure, as my MOT is due soon. Come on guy's, please put me out of my misery, I need closure. lol

Two different CO2 readings
A bit of an update. Ran data scan for a good 20 minutes, engine temp' sat at around 78 Left Hand o2 gauge stuck at 32 flickering to 29 once in a while. (this is the side with the higher co2%) Right hand did moved once round to 90 but once I blipped the throttle she just returned to 32 and did not move again. Also, disconnected them both but still no change!! are they dead or am I missing something?

Two different CO2 readings
Cheers Steams, Just charging my old IBM laptop, then I will see what data scan has to say. Oh meant to say, I have checked resistance on the heater side of the sensors and both came back with 8.5 ohms. I think the accepted range is between 3 and 1000. so a bit on the low side, what ever that may mean? Also checked the supply voltage to them and that came out as 11.8 volts each side.

Two different CO2 readings
Tried this today, blocked each side with my hands and no sign of any blowing. I was surprised how much force was needed to block the things off!! Cheers DBnathan. At least that's one concern out of the way. The next thing I tried was to disconnect the o2 sensors, made no difference at all! ? At the moment I am just about to check that I have voltage to them and that I have resistance on the heater circuits. After that I will try Data Scan. Should I see the 02 readings fluctuating madly? I think the last time I tried to check them both gauges just sat steady no matter what I did.!!

Not running properly
Too much Redex? Then it may be a case of simply just cleaning the plugs first as they may be fauled up. Worth doing considering the price of new ones.

Two different CO2 readings
Cheers Noz. Might give datascan a go. Mind you, I don't really understand half of the things I'm looking at when it's hooked up if I was honest. lol Looks like I will be taking a trip to Leicester when the weather picks up. Assuming I am hooked up and the engine is up to temp, should I see the voltage fluctuate indicating rich to lean?

Two different CO2 readings
PS. Would I be able to use Data Scan software to check them?

Two different CO2 readings
Thanks for the info Noz, and the kind offer. unfortunately I am working tomorrow and won't get home until the afternoon. What sort of costs would I be looking at if you we're to do a check on them? Maybe once I am taxed for the summer I could come over to you?

Two different CO2 readings
Hi Noz, Thanks for your input mate. As far as I know, I am fairly certain that I have a stock UK manual tt 1992 and that the ECU is standard also. If I get chance to check tomorrow I will post some more specific information if that's ok? So if I understand correctly, it could still be a fault with the O2 sensor?

Two different CO2 readings
Cheers DBnathan. Will try that at the weekend also.

Two different CO2 readings
Arh, that rules out the O2 sensors then? As for the rpm, that was a typo error! Should have read 750 rpm. The engine had been idling at temp for good 20 minutes. If it is an exhaust blow, which side should I check first, the high reading or low?
-
Two different CO2 readings
Will do. Also, I was at idle when checking. 850rpm.

Two different CO2 readings
Good point Steams! I will check it out at the week end. If that checks out, where else do I look?

Two different CO2 readings
Hi Mark, I have just fitted a Mongoose cat-back system in conjunction with a Japspeed front section. The only cats I have left are the ones in the cast elbows at the turbos.

Two different CO2 readings
Thanks znut. Is it possible to check this by way of their resistance using a multi-meter?

Two different CO2 readings
Took some co2 reading tonight. No matter what I did, the left side was always twice the reading of the right! e.g. Left read 3%co2 and the right read 1.5%co2. When switching the sniffer, the change was almost instant and the difference always the same! This may sound daft, but listening to the exhaust note up close, the left side sounded like.. puff puff puff and the right sounded like.. pop pop pop! The difference was very noticeable. Any relationship do you think?? So! my question is.. What would be the key features to check, that would most likely cause this fault?

Exhaust elbows
well after what seems bl**dy ages, I finally finished fitting my stainless decatted down pipes. I had to offer the things up several time so as to get the hanging points in the right position, But with the aid of my trusty blow lamp and a couple tweaks, she now fits fine. Sounds great also. Not to loud so as to deafen me on a long run, but just load enough to turn heads. I do not know if it is my imagination, but she seams to rev a lot easier. I can now floor it without that niggly bit of hesitation. Very happy! Meant to say, I did not take the elbows off, I could not figure out how to get to them. Really wish I could have done though. Is there a "how too" anywhere?

Good looking tyres can kill
So, just to be clear. What are we saying causes this? Bad set up or poor tyres?

Exhaust elbows
Sorry about the muddle thread Smithy.:blushing: You are spot on! it is in fact 2 1/2" and not 3" as I posted. (it's not the first time that I have described things being a bit bigger than they actually are:whistling:) Anyway, having taken everyones advice and soaked the 6 offending nuts over night in WD40. with the use of a power bar and a couple of extensions I managed to undo all 6 nuts without snapping anything. Will drop the exhausts later and see if I can get to the elbows. Couple of questions, when I come to re assembling, what sort of anti seize grease should I use? Also, can anyone tell me where I can get some replacement nuts and gaskets from? (the ones for the exhaust that is!) Thinking of making some copper gaskets up, or is that a waste of time and effort?

Crunching 2nd gear
Best to make sure you can undo the filler plug before draining. I hear they can be a pig to remove.

Exhaust elbows
Part way changing out my standard exhaust system to a 3" fully stainless one. So far I have managed to fit a de cat mongoose back section. At the weekend I hope to swap the pre cat standard part for a 3" inch through stainless one. My question is, can I remove the cast elbows with the engine in situ so as to de cat them and re fit? I know.. I can but dream!!
