  1. It is amazing how much corrosion has taken place before it decides to show on the outside. As you say, cellulose paint is cellulose paint. I just wondered if you had a preference. Do ken and Lyn have a web site? It sound like you have a lot of indoor space to work in. As for me it is the front drive. The neighbours love me. (not) Have been mainly fabricating inner sill sections today, only minus 3 deg's. Still no one said it would be easy. Managed to get a coat of acid etch primmer on my latest repair I just hope it will dry out. Thanks for the info to date. Dave.
  2. Hi Dougal200. I know what you mean about the rear arches. I have finished the near side and have just started the off side. I have attached some random photos of both sides. I am not familiar with por 15 or the acid prep so I will have to do some investigating. As you, I use acid etch primmer and cover it with 90% zinc primmer. As for seam sealer I use a polyurethane type as I am told it helps to remove moister from the seam itself. By the way what sort of cellulose paint do you recommend? I will look into the 3M stone chip as you suggested. The 2 web sites look very interesting, I have had a brief look but will have a better look later. Thanks for the info. Please keep it coming Regards Dave
  3. Thanks for the comments Dougal200.:cool3: You are to right about the rust, seems to get every where. I to am a big fan of the bilt hamber range. One thing I have not decided on is the under seal to use. any suggestions? If you need any specific photos that may help anyone I have in excess of 900 to date. Redwine300
  4. Not sure I would trust myself on someone elses pride and joy. Still practicing. Some more repairs attached.
  5. By the way. Wher can I find DTA? Thanks Redwine300
  6. Hi P3zza214 I am currently trying to restore my uk 300zx tt targa. Mainly the bodywork at the moment as the tin worm has done a good job on her. I am no expert by any stretch of the imagination but I am happy to share what little I know. Attached are a few pictures of my latest repairs.
  7. I believe that when you set the base idle you should first remove the yellow ecu control plug, Once this has been done the base idle should be set between 500 and 550 rpm. After reconnecting the yellow connector the ecu should take control and hold it at 850rpm +/-50 rpm. I may be mistaken as it has been a while though. Also there are 2 connectors involved. 1 yellow and 1 black on mine. Both were very green inside but once I cleaned them up my idle was perfect.:yinyang::yinyang:
  8. Suffering inner tyre wear myself, What should I do to fix bad camber????? Thanks in advance.
  9. Hopefully photo's are attached. Hope these are of some use. Redwine300
  10. Hi FunkySi. I have four very recent photo's that will be of use. Would you like me to e-mail them to you? if so pm me your e-mail address. I could try and attach them to a reply or even a pm. Which would you prefer?
  11. My idle was also erratic! Fixed it by cleaning black connector and yellow connector situated around the idle valve and the auxilary air valve. Maybe worth a try. Made all the difference to mine. Hope this helps:hyper:
  12. Hi zx-eyes, Hopefully if this works, (fingers crossed) Here are some pictures of the bumper tangs and clips I was referring to.
  13. Now thats what I call a how to link:bow::bow::bow::bow: Cheers zx-eyes

  15. Will do Vijay, I will try tomorrow. depends on how sore my hand is.Also not sure how to post pic's though. Advice welcome:):)
  16. Finally it's off!!! :rant:Turns out there are 6 tangs that also attach the damn thing to the car. These are held in place by plastic end caps with metal grips inside. Once removed and after a bit of brute force the thing came away.:headvswal Relief or what. Mind you it has since cost me a screwdriver in the hand trying to remove the washer pipes. Hope this helps others in the future. Thanks for all the replies.:duffer::duffer::duffer:
  17. Hi Vijay, Thanks for the link, Very nice. Have removed everything as described but still no joy. It seems solid around the area of the number plate????:headvswal
  18. I must be missing something here!!! I have followed various threads on how to remove the front bumper from my uk 300zx tt but she still will not budge. So far I have removed 4 bolts from under the front center panel, all screws from wheel arches, 4 nuts from behind the lights, All screws from front air scoop. It feels as though there are hidden fixings behind the number plate panel but can not figure out how to remove it.:headvswal:headvswal. Pease help!!!:cry:
  19. I bought a large cosmos and it fits very well. I have added 2 external straps myself just to be on the safe side.:)
  20. Have just purchased a new car cover for 300zx uk and thought it was worth a mention. Quallity and price seems very good, Fully waterproof, 12 months guarantee for less than £50. It also has drivers side access and soft fabric lining.:) Worth a look. Try this link and contact Andrew Whitehead. (very helpfull) http://www.care4car.com/:duffer:
  21. Hi quinnal, I know you are right but I can't scrap her out without at least trying. Hello Again Santa, Have finally heard from Courtesy Nissan, They have confirmed they have the parts but I am having trouble trying to find out about any additional charges. Import tax, VAT, etc' I need to get a total price. Any ideas?:) Slick pete. Well what can I say! Firstly many thanks for the frank and informative reply, I appreciate your detailed and candid comments. However, My feelings for the car are such that I should at least try to retain the original shell and attempt the repair. Maybe if I see for myself the extent of the rust then maybe sense will prevail?? I suppose I have never been very good at taking sound addvice. That said you did piont out a few areas for me to bear in mind that I had not concidered. Thanks Again:eek:
  22. Hi Santa, Yes I did get the link for Courtesy you sent me. Many Thanks. I have since sent them an extensive inquiry but have not heard anything as yet.:rant: Thanks again redwine300:duffer:
  23. Funkysi, I totally agree with you, However I have been around this car for 13 out of it's 16 years and I suppose you could say I am a little too attatched and would like to keep it as original as possible.(sad i know) but thank's. Who knows, things might go t*ts up!!? :duffer: Snowygt, Thank's for the slick pete recommendation. Guinnal, Legrath. Again, Thank's for your input. Heart's ruling the head i'm afraid  Magnum5, Tempted to take a look, I will give it some serious thought and let you know.
  24. Contemplating replacing inner and outer sills,Both sides plus intrenal reinforcement panels. In addition to this I am concidering a new floor pan.
