lumpy idle
Hi StellaZ, There is another way of setting the TPS other than Consult. It involves testing the voltage by using a volt meter with fine probes and testing the voltage at the harness side of the connector. I will try and explain. Looking at the back of the harness connector (the one with three wires going in) and having the square timing dog on the left connect the positive lead to the second wire down and the negative to the third one down. With the ignition on set the voltage reading between 0.4 and 0.5 volts and tighten bolts, Disconnect connector for a few second and reconnect. If you do not have fine probes I found a couple of paper clips stategically placed works just as well. Hope this is of some help redwine300 :duffer:

idles all over the place
Could be a dirty connector on the auxillary air device located at the rear of the engine, Right hand side as you look at it. Connector in question is yellow. Try cleaning, may have corrosion. :headvswal

dreaded rust
I know how you feel!! :headvswal My sills have gone front and back, inside and out. I thought that was bad enough but have found several parts of the floor also need attention. I am now part way through totally stripping the inside and underneath of the car ready to start work :headvswal P.S. I hear that Clarke Mig Welders rank amongst the best for this type of work

Hi, I have been told that MJP Eastern Auto's is a good place to source replacement panels. It sounds like we are both attempting the same task. I have only got mine off the ground at the moment on axle stands but hope to start removing metal soon. Maybe we can share idears as we go?? http://www.mjpshop.co.uk/ Ask for Mike Feeney :)

Idle problems - help!!!
Hi Parker300zx, I also suffered from a similar problem for some time before eventually getting my tickover under control. I had various simtoms like, stalling, High idle, erratic idle to name but a few. I would sugest starting with connectors to the A.A.C. valve and the F.I.C.D. Selenoid valve. These can be found attacthed to the Air Regulator via pipework at the back of the engine viewed from the front. Disconnect both an clean thouroughly before refitting, now is a good time to check the base idle rpm and adjust if needed, Should be 650rpm +/-50 There is a adjusting screw on the right hand side of the of the AAC Valve and should be set when the engine is at normal temperature. I would also check and clean the connector to the Air Regulator prior to setting idle. If this does not fix the problem i have more suggestion but try these first. Good Luck Redwine300.
