  1. I previously resprayed my prelude matte black and didn't add a coat of lacquer, but i was wondering whether a coat of lacquer would give it a professional look?? I'll experiment and show pics of both......
  2. Gio im appreciating that Zed very much!! I new you'd agree leo - seem to be on the same wave length :taz: I think the matte colour is unique and gives the zed a sleek look, very smooth and menacing!!! My zed is currently nice glossy black, but needs a number of panels respraying, so i'm 70% decided on respraying matte black... ...on a second note, but perhaps more importantly, if i was to get a full respray done professionally i would be constantly paranoid about idiots scratching it. However a decent finish off matte can be done with spray cans and is easily repairable so i would never be worried about idiots!!
  3. Now then, firstly who prefers matte black on a zed... Secondly, if you were to spray your zed matte black, would you add a coat of lacquer for protection??
  4. Nice one, will do! Ive got busy shifts till next week so Tues is probs best but i'll give you a bell nearer the time!!
  5. haahaaaaaa  !! ...i'll just go to this stud shop then! naa, that would be awesome if i could nab one of your studs, cheers mate :) ive got that tonne for your wings ready & waiting now mate. ...any chance you could give us a hand getting this last nut off holding the bumper on, as its need the flexible socket to get to it as i almost rounded the barsteward trying to get at it :headvswal
  6. Yes apologies I mean the stud. Spot on, thanks very much guys  - Where abouts can i get a stud from??
  7. Yup! Do you know if you can just replace a pin though? ..i damaged one of the pins removing a spacer so that is all i need to replace, but the pin looks like it is welded on.
  8. As the title states, is £50 a good price foor a hub and wheel bearing?? But more importantly to save money and effort - is it possible to just replace a hub Pin on its own??
  9. 23rd July is good for me! And yes the food is spot on Steve!
  10. Got to get to the Ford Capri night!!!!
  11. I wont be able to make tomorrow as im working, but i do look to get there for the weekends! My zed is also off the road...probably till next late this year so im afraid i wont be taking that for a little while, but i will be taking my missus' pug 206 1.1 ...which is almost as good. Yeah i thought i'd ask as i've never seen a 300 down there, but i do appreciate the 200's that are there!!
  12. Big things! Thats pretty dam often, do you take your zed down there?
  13. Anyone regularly go to the ace cafe??
  14. Exactly, ill sell my story to mens health! Any one know if you can just replace a pin? or will i need to replace the hub??
  15. Finaaally!! 3 days more of drilling and several snapped drill bits, the disc is off    :excl: Unfortuantely in the process i have damaged the pin the nut was on . Is there anyway off just replacing the pin?? ...I have however learnt a few valuable lessons from this experience:thumbup1:: #1) Never rush!! Always chill out and take my time, sleep on it if necessary. #2) Ask for help from someone who knows their stuff rather than trying to hammer the it off! #3) As hellraiser said, try actually hammering a smaller socket on before going for the more drastic measure of drilling it!
  16. Apart from ensuring that you get nuts that fit, what other things do you need to look out for when fitting spacers?
  17. take sat nav for an accurate reading.... and maybe a plaster!
  18. ...not just any old double hex socket i'll have you know! A stupidly shallow one, stuck on with rust, with only half a mil either side to just about fit your socket into, and one that sits flush with the spacer so its near impossible to get out once its rounded. Anyway, 3 broken drill bits later...i'm going to bed. Will tackle it some time next week. Out of funds & depressed. Reading the threads about selling the zed is bringing up ideas. I will only end up buying another zed straight away ,so Instead of selling, i plan to SORN, use the old bi-cycle for the next few months to salvage some funds to cover the damage caused by my impatience!
  19. ...Spoke to F*************G soon!!!!!!!!! The last nut on the other spacer rounded. Cant get it off. tried to break the nut with hammer and screwdriver but it was too strong. then drilled it, but the metal just merged into the spacer, so now it is one big mess. not happy.
  20. Got up 7am with the intention of having my front discs off by 8 and then get on with the day... Calipers are off, 7:15, looking good for time. Now for the spacers... Wait a min, what are these strange nuts about - shouldn't be too much bother, get the old socket on them. 4hrs later, 2 nuts rounded, a desparate trip to Andys, and a new socket set bought at Halfords... and eventually the spacers & discs are off!! Lesson learned today - if you ever see someone using these odd shaped nuts instead of a standard nut, punch them square in the face.
  21. When travelling to work in a hurry with lots of stopping and starting, roundabouts etc around 10-15 :crying:! Get around 25 when travelling on nice long motorway trips!
  22. Haha, quality idea car.mad - took me hours scrubbing away!! Did the auto Sol and the sand down produce those results, or did you have to polish etc? - very nice finish!!
  23. Whilst out on Windsor this Saturday gone, i saw a very nice zed cruise past... Looked like it was matte dark grey / matte black with a wide arch kit.
