Got up 7am with the intention of having my front discs off by 8 and then get on with the day...

Calipers are off, 7:15, looking good for time. Now for the spacers...

Wait a min, what are these strange nuts about - shouldn't be too much bother, get the old socket on them.

4hrs later, 2 nuts rounded, a desparate trip to Andys, and a new socket set bought at Halfords... and eventually the spacers & discs are off!!

Lesson learned today - if you ever see someone using these odd shaped nuts instead of a standard nut, punch them square in the face.

...Spoke to F*************G soon!!!!!!!!!

The last nut on the other spacer rounded. Cant get it off. tried to break the nut with hammer and screwdriver but it was too strong. then drilled it, but the metal just merged into the spacer, so now it is one big mess. not happy.

That's just a double hex socket, what you messing about at?:ninja::laugh:

...not just any old double hex socket i'll have you know! A stupidly shallow one, stuck on with rust, with only half a mil either side to just about fit your socket into, and one that sits flush with the spacer so its near impossible to get out once its rounded.

Anyway, 3 broken drill bits later...i'm going to bed. Will tackle it some time next week.

Out of funds & depressed. Reading the threads about selling the zed is bringing up ideas. I will only end up buying another zed straight away ,so Instead of selling, i plan to SORN, use the old bi-cycle for the next few months to salvage some funds to cover the damage caused by my impatience!

Finaaally!! 3 days more of drilling and several snapped drill bits, the disc is off

:excl: Unfortuantely in the process i have damaged the pin the nut was on . Is there anyway off just replacing the pin??

...I have however learnt a few valuable lessons from this experience:thumbup1::

#1) Never rush!! Always chill out and take my time, sleep on it if necessary.

#2) Ask for help from someone who knows their stuff rather than trying to hammer the it off!

#3) As hellraiser said, try actually hammering a smaller socket on before going for the more drastic measure of drilling it!

Exactly, ill sell my story to mens health!

Any one know if you can just replace a pin? or will i need to replace the hub??

Lets hope its just a pin as the hub will take you to Christmas to get of:tt2:
