  1. Hmm, managed to get all functions ungreyed after finding ecu with ign on, but as soon as I started the car back to only datalogging, and with car running, it wasnt finding ecu. Like you say likely the adaptor, I don't want to spend £40 just for a usb blatz cable, anyone have a link how to make/wire a usb cable up ?
  2. Yep drivers for the adaptor all loaded and device manager is happy. Software is registered, it allows the logging functions (F6 and F7) just the rest are greyed .... I'll try dropping the speed to 9600 next time I get a chance to plug it in, see how that goes.
  3. Basically 1:18 means for every 18cm of the real item, the model is 1cm. So the lower the number the larger the size of a scale model, 1/32 would be the same size as scalextric (much smaller than 1:18).
  4. Dunno about websites, but I have a good few 1:18 I was thinking of selling, only thing is postage to spain would not be cheap ! There is at least one 1:18 Zed model, but I don't have one. http://rides.webshots.com/photo/1017050315015634057SXnxKXinnO
  5. Presumably as it found the ecu after I swapped usb socket and com port #, its now working ? but odd that the real time monitoring functions are greyed out ... I do have a feeling I set 14400 baud when I swapped it, so could try putting that back to 9600. Other than that, the only drivers I can see on the blatz site are for the dedicated usb lead, not for the adaptor.
  6. Many happy returns of the day :)
  7. Happy Birthday Mark :happybday:
  8. Yep I am sad .... sad I cant go anywere with my Z due to a ropey tyre ... oh, and the fact I am older :p
  9. Blatz cable with a usb adaptor on, I moved it to another usb socket and com3 and now I had ecu id0 active so thats one step forward, unfortunatley all buttons except the data replay and log analyser were greyed out ...
  10. I know 9.5 with a 35 offset fits nice on the rear, no idea how it is for the front though !
  11. If it helps, a bit of googling suggest offsets to be around 35-38: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/242764-18-starcorp-impuls-wide-pack-cheap/
  12. Until I get my damaged tyre replaced my Z isn't going anywere :( But I am happy too drive over to check them out for you, unfortunatley I can't check fitment :(
  13. The only thing I am unsure of is if 9.5 will fit in the front arches on a Z on full lock ? Usually the offset is stamped in the back of the wheel somwere ?
  14. Ok so I have got datascan and connector all wired up, port is on 1 on device manager and on datascan, speed is 9600 on both, but when I run the find ecu it takes ages and i gave up after 20 mins of wasting fuel idling :P, surely it shouldn't take that long ?
  15. @ blackcircles proxes are £99 for 225/40/18, and £119 and a bit for 235/40/18 Your rear sizes are a few p under £160 in proxes flavour. Not sure how competative blackcircles is tbh, I know for the tyres and sizes I was looking at personally, they were the lowest.
  16. TBH I personally would go with a 225/40, just so as to keep it closer to stock diameter, mine came with 235/45/17's fronts and I dont like them, I will be changing them to 225 when I can, but as they have plenty of life its not high on the list ;) IMO 10mm extra width is going to make little noticeable difference in grip, and looking on blackcircles for Falken 452's as an example, the 235 cost £21 more per tyre ! Now for that £21 extra, you could get Toyo Proxes in the 225 size, (which presumably going by how well rated the toyo's are, would be grippier than 235 Falkens) so whichever is your preference ... I don't have experience with either the above mentioned tyre brands, just playing devils advocate ;)
  17. It should state on the logbook if its imported ? Maybe its had the wrong tyres or wheels put on it, uk cars had wider rear rims and 245/45 tyres on the back as standard.
  18. With 8" anything up to 245 is acceptable. 235/40/18 is a bit taller than stock, but within acceptable limits (below 2.5%), if you went for a 245 then you would need to drop to a 35 profile. 225/40/18 is pretty much the same as stock sizes (just under 1% larger). So what you have should be fine.
  19. Yep, yours is an import then, UK cars have 245/45 rears. Its more because those tyres on the wheels linked are 45 profile, should be a 40 to be correct for 225 on 18's. I don't know how much leeway there is for the extra diameter, thats why I mentioned it :)
  20. Well apart from being 29mm larger diameter than stock ;) I would check to ensure it wont rub on anything, in particular the fronts at full lock. Is your Z import or UK spec ? if its UK you may find that will invalidate insurance because your rear tyres would be under stock width ...
  21. Not sure what these wheel makers are like, but as they are Uk based hopefully service and aftersales would be good ? Some vaguely similar (I use the term loosley :p) styles here http://www.bkracing.co.uk/
  22. I think you need to become a a parts finder Marty, you are good at finding bargains :p
