Possible vaccum leak or is that normal
hey so ive done the heater core bypass and after everything was finished i started the beast up and while it was idle i checked to make sure nothing was loose or leaking but i did hear a hissing sound. at first i thought it was the bypass so i double checked and tightened the o clamps and the noise is still there, its in that general area of the egr and i cant pin point it over the sound of the engine and the frigging fan!! sounds like a vacuum leak? or air escaping? or is it suppose to be like that>? not a clue to what it could be....... the egr has been bypassed so i dont know if it has anything to do with that or maybe ive broken something........ anyone have this issue? or similar? andy advice and help welcomed thanks

noooo, 3year off the road and within a month a taxi has crashed into the back of me
that's your reason why they are pissing you about, you should have legal cover, most insurance companies offer them, check what if it was included in yours if not bring one on they know the system and how it works, its also beneficial if you know them or been recommended to one, if the cabbie admitted fault ull get paid regardless and the lawyer fees get paid separately so you get full compensation!! hope its fixed and back on the road for summer!!

Heater Core Bypass
Today I decided with determination to do something to my car as its been neglected my touch! I jumped in and with my handy torch app i took a look at the drivers side foot floor and immediately noticed some browny residue on the carpet above the foot rest im sold that it was leaking from there and it makes sense where it is damp. never doubted you guys but just had something stuck in my head and i can get pretty unrestful if i dont understand where and why if i dont come to a conclusion (thanks for the help and advice btw).... anyway having seen that, it was enough motivation for me to do the bypass from behind the engine. i took both pipes off it wasnt that hard just hard to pull on something with just the tip of two fingers, a little but of struggle and prying and they both were off. no leakage or spillage which i was expecting. but nothing both pipes were pretty much dry, which made me tell myself to check the radiator. i was leaning over the right fender and when i stood up straight i couldn't bend my knees properly!! started walking funny!! so i went over to a local hard ware store and they had nothing, they refered me to a radiator company and they couldnt help either but after a short conversation they custom build any type of radiators including performance ones, good to know!! from there i went to a garage spoke to the mechanic and he pointed me in the direction where the junk stuff was. After a few minutes i came across a mercedes sprinter van that had the engine removed which was basically scrap and found this bad boy hanging from some radiator pipe on the firewall think of the letter J invert the letter and then rotate it to the right 90 degrees. a lil of wd40 to lubricate the connecting points and waalah! i have to say for a freebie it is perfect!!! i didnt have to cut it all!! it just fit like it was made for it!!! the twist and bend made it a perfect fit. no snags or pinches. i think it turned out very good until i decide what to do next with the heater core, so i checked the radiator and it seemed empty and after filling a 1.5 litre pepsi bottle thinking it would at least take half of it it only took maybe too half a glass at most. i started the car and let it run for a while then took it for a quick spin, got it washed parked up checked the levels ans all fine. i hope i havent bypassed something else! i shouldnt have a damp carpet anymore and loss of anything! and i have some piece of mind that something has been fixed!

true! are you going through a lawyer? usually makes it easier to get them to pay up, they will try/do and say anything to not to pay out the idiots!!

damp carpet on driver side floor
havent toppped off any fluids since got the car back but levels are good. power steering fluid is literally just at the max indicator, brake fluid is the same, radiator fluid is full. engine oil is running low from the leak. apart from that i dont know of any other fluids that need checking if there is any? transmission fluid?

damp carpet on driver side floor
right seat out, carpet up. had a look and apart from finding a small amount of what looked like oil on the screw that hold the seat frame down i didn't see anything too concerning thankfully no rot or rust! yay! but as i looked at the firewall, the cover that sits over it at the bottom was damp which i believe is the where the fluid/water etc is coming from. the round rubber seal more to the right didn't have any corrosion or signs of liquids so it cant be coming from there didnt find any other cracks or holes . found the fly under the carpet!!

took me about 30 minutes. happy to see no major rust/rott and damage repairs. only rust is the residue from the spare wheel.

damp carpet on driver side floor
ok so driver side front and back drain pipes flow like niagra falls and the passnger side rear is also clear the front however isnt but it still come out after a while. checked the raditor fluid and it looks like someone took a shit in there. but levels are right. power steering/brake fluid levels are good. if the matrix is leaking wouldnt there be water on the ground or some kind of indication of a leakage?

Tagra still leaking after replace
ill give it all a try. something has to work. for now ive just folded a peice of saran wrap and put it between the end cap and frame where the spike comes out. seems to have done the trick lol it was worth a shot. ive stripped my tagras and found it has rust at the end caps.from the inside. where does the front and back pipes lead to for the excess water? i bet its just a simple clearing the pipe fix! thanks guys

damp carpet on driver side floor
:scared: thanks for the info fellas, i know its defo not from the tagra, it drips water either onto me when in the car or on the side seat (both sides) and they do leak for fun!!! :( its wet more beneath the peddles. ive seen the tubing that is behind the panel but never realized it was for the water to drain from there!! lol ive learnt something!! the other side is good and dry thank the heavens! it was the first thing i checked after i found the drivers side wet. perhaps silly question, so the heater core bypass does that mean no more heating? matrix? im not going to find morpheous offering me a blue and red pill under the carpet am i? loll i haven't the slightest clue what and where to begin. a link to a how to check would be appreciated. ill be doing my reaserch also. and most importantly is it something that could possibly wait maybe? i dont know the extent of the repair nor time it will take to fix etc but i am planing on coming down to japfest with my z and i dont want to have to leave her behind, heres a pic gracias amigos!!

damp carpet on driver side floor
been meaning to post this for a few days now. i lost my phone in the z and couldnt find so after a stuggle and search i took the matts out and on the driver side i felt that carpet was damp. it wasnt soaking with water and there wasn't any order. but when i rubbed my hand into it did have a funky smell but ive never noticed it. i dont understand who what where when why and how its gotten damp. i havent spilt anything. it hasn't rained hard. but the sun was out when i noticed it. i did have the under carriage washed on the 20th of last month. im thinking maybe that is the reason. but from then till now still damp? i dont drive it when it rains and really only had it on the road mainly last week when the sun was strong enough for me to get my tan on! and the amount of heat that comes into the cabin surely if it did get through shouldnt it have dried up? wonder if anyone else had or has this problem? i didnt notice any holes or cracks when the car was on the ramp. any ideas fells?
