  1. done - id second leos comments tho, a slightly more mobile bmw is way more fun than a tuned impreza, even though the impreza may be faster. RWD, not AWD or FWD, nice short snappy gear change, close gearing, decent noise would be my choice! Oh and lightweight! easier on tyres, brakes, suspension, and corners and accelerates better. Keep us updated!
  2. i do think a nation of speed cameras is too far, but im not too fussed... motorways are dull anyways, i just whack the cruise control on. If, however, they put average speed cameras on my local b road, then i'll be annoyed!
  3. no lol - pm me! when you leaving?
  4. i'll meet you at yours if you like rob, im definitely going! if i can remember how to get there that is!
  5. lol, im up for a midlands meet again, been waiting for the weather to improve! - i reckon same place as before, (meriden) as its easy to get to.
  6. good episode, that 599 looked like a handful! If you geta chance, download the Top Gear Australia version of the Ashes - s3e0. it has more comedy of the english guys and some other aussies in english stuff.
  7. ah the old mismatched battle situation... I remember driving down a hereford B road in my standard 1.8 mx5, to suddenly find a 3.0 audi right on my bumper... just as the road turned twisty, the mx5 shines! The audi could keep up on the straights, but every corner i could brake later, turn in harder and get on the gas sooner, so gradually pulled out a bit of a lead. Then the road straightened out, flash of awareness, so slowed down to 50 to let him overtake. Hes probably still bullying mx5 drivers, but i like to think i showed him that through the twisty stuff theres not much that can keep up!
  8. nice one rob, glad its a good un! Do you know what boost pressure you're running at? +1 for more pics!
  9. zedworld did mine... £155 all in i think. Made a BIG difference to the steering!
  10. id say they probably got it right with just one! and besides, you just bought a whole nother car, which already has a tasty dually on!
  11. Congrats matey! looks like a stunner, looking forward to seeing it in the metal! You'll have to give me a spin, interested to see how a zed would feel with an extra hundred horses!
  12. niiiiiiice! glad to see low mileage zeds commanding a healthy price! Loving the stereo and dials, really modern touches! hopefully see you at the zedworld bash with it!
  13. are we talking a whine in 1st and 2nd when its cold? thought it might be diff, but after reading this it sounds like it might be the gears! normally i dont like a car making too many chirrups and whistles, but it does make it sound like a track car, which i love!
  14. lol, definition 2... http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=lepton anyways, yeah, i did have some clearHP166s on the back... which were truely terrible, and definitely needed to be changed - span up in third on the way home from picking the car up.
  15. fronts are 225 40 18s, rears are 255 35 18. i found the ride a bit crashy so thought i might have a slow puncture, but when i came to test them, the fronts were 34 and the rears 32. might leave the fronts at 36 as they did look a bit flat at 34, but put the rears back down to 33. i am looking forward to having warm dry roads in a few months! at the moment full throttle in any of the first 3 gears is a sketchy affair, even in a straight line! 4th on motorways though... :D n leptons very quickly turns into n+50 leptons...
  16. well, I found out something tonight... 36psi in the rears is too high! The roads werent even wet or particularly cold and it was still a nightmare trying to get power down. Have to get them back down to 33 like they were before. I also found out that my zed is fine with lifting off mid corner, or even dabbing the brakes mid corner, which was the usual reliable way of getting my mx5 to go sideways.
  17. Anyone else having fun in these icy conditions? had to drive back to my office late when the roads were quiet and very cold - have definitely noticed the lack of grip when summer tyres are really cold! Theres just one corner going onto the estate thats a lot of fun, sharp left turn then give a little bootful in second on the apex to have the back swing out a little, and a nice second gear roundabout - so far ive only had the car a few months and been taking it gingerly, but my first experience of a bit of power oversteer and it was alright, car didnt bite as much as i thought it might with so much torque and the power delivery of a turbo! probably helped by a long wheelbase and overall weight. I'm very slowly working up to being able to have a bit more fun on the roads - its not like i have no oversteer skills, on the track with a BMW 328i can hold awesome lairy slides, but always been hesitant doing it on public roads - mainly worried about not gathering it up properly and riding up a curb :s Anyone else had some lairy moments? Theres too many 'I want this/I'm selling this/how do i do this' posts... lets have some more posts about driving the things, and frankly, how awesome they are! Any advice/stories for an emerging RWD enthusiast?
  18. really good episode that, best ive seen for a while! loved the real world car test, loved richards 911 race, loved james/tiffs race, and sienna miller bit was hilarious! (Hopefully didnt give too much away for those who havent seen it yet (unlike todays Ingear which i stopped reading when i realised it was basically telling me whats in the whole series)) Lets hope quality continues for the rest of the series!

did quite a few with Javelin last year, did see one 300zx at cadwell which was a rare sight! http://www.javelintrackdays.co.uk/trackday/index.php
  20. bantambunny you taking the zed down? could convoy it down there if you like. Are you coming to the zedworld bash? I'll try and find you for a word.
  21. the race is 11th-12th of june. The package ive seen is £225 per person for return ferry crossing, track access for the weekend and camping in an on track campsite for 3/4 nights. Thats based on 2 sharing a car, which is all you need to know unless you're taking two headless, legless friends with you!
  22. id be up for that if theres a club stand - maybe with a nice convoy going up from coventry way?
  23. hahaha awesome! how not to drive a car! I think i'll let me gf drive my zed in the summer - she drove my old mx5 and loved it - commented on how nice it is to have an engine that actually has some power, and how spot on the driving position is compared to her 206! ive got no concerns about her flooring it - to be honest even im still hesitant to use full boost while the roads are cold and damp - and my zed will be making the equivalent of her full power at something just over idle lol
  24. Yep, still able to make it! Brillo +1
  25. fair enough - id just be happy to get mine back to 200bhp per tonne again. just have to save some money, or sell my mazda lol
