  1. No really this time! Only thing it needs is a manual conversion... and 9 grand is a bit steep - still, i did say that if the 300ZX came out as a new car today, id rather it than a brand new 370z! Its a 1999 type S import, with 37k on the clock  Full advert is here... Ebay link

  3. http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3050891.htm Someone please buy this so I dont! My last car was great, loved the colour, interior, and it was a twin turbo manual. Only things i didnt like on it were the rust as it was a UK car, the 18" wheels made buying tyres expensive, and the exhaust a touch loud. But this rectifies all of these shortfalls! If its as rust and dent free as the seller says it is (which is believable seeing its only been in the country for 7 years, and the low mileage suggests it was sensibly garaged over winter) and its got good service history, then surely its a good bet! Screw the flat buying, i want this!
  4. id possibly suggest changing the poll slightly - to say at what mileage did your engine go? I'd be interested to know whats the lowest an engine has gone at!
  5. Actually, i never got round to posting day 4, which was the elan valley! might put them up in a bit, its a very nice drive round the reservoirs :)
  6. well, this is annoying... just been rereading this post, and i've just realised that breaking my zed when the engine went was a very stupid thing to do.... I mean, look at it! Just look at it! with a 99spec front bumper, high level spoiler and 18s, i have to say it is the most gorgeous car ever designed - it looks perfect from any angle! My girlfriend would kill me if i bought another one though, but still... Jeff, any chance you could put mine back on the road???
  7. well i also considered an s14 silvia as you can get them for mega cheap, but never really liked the look of the UK spec ones, preferred the Jap models. But then again, all S15s would be imports, whereas a 350z would be a UK car, so insurance might be something to consider as well. just had a look on pistonheads and theres a lot more choice for 350zs, 15 pages of cars for sale, compared to 2 pages of s15s. Also, 350zs are a lot cheaper - start at £7k, whereas s15s are £9k.
  8. After breaking my 300ZX im missing it terribly, so will definitely be replacing it with something else in the near future, question is, what? I'm basically torn between 2 cars - an S15 Silvia Spec R, or a 350Z. The Silvia has less power and fewer cylinders, but its lighter, rarer, and its turbocharged so can be tuned easier, plus i can stick a tasty BOV on it and get back my much missed 'tsssh' sound on gearchanges... But then again, the 350Z has a V6 which would sound lovely anyways, and its would less of a handful because its NA with a torque curve as flat as a pancake... but they're a bit common for my tastes (i like leftfield car choices generally) Anyone driven both and can compare? thing is i need a well rounded car really - performance, comfort, reliability and economy all have a part to play in my buying decision. And yes, i know i could technically have the best of both worlds with a turbocharger AND a V6 if i went back to 300ZX, but it falls well short of the mark on reliability and economy!
  9. Nice car! i chopped in my zx when it blew a rod for a civic coupe - and i am LOVING the vtec!
  10. Ayrton Senna - someone who totally and completely talks cars, and maybe pick up some driving tips Travis Pastrana - not just to talk to, but to spend a week with living the complete lifestyle! Colin McRae - again, not only to talk to but to spend a week with!
  11. i'll be watching the races this weekend on ITV player online - love the BTCC!
  12. awww cute baby! must take after the mother then?
  13. i feel your pain - mines just had a conrod let go less than two weeks ago! hope you're back on the road soon!
  14. I was very tempted by G3 XTT for a twin turbo... doesnt have LRE in it though
  15. ah, this isnt going quite the direction i thought it might.... I meant to say, if you have a good car but a bad engine, and are thinking of getting a different car... what would you do? Unfortunately i think this might be it for me with zed ownership... its a great car, but ive had a run of bad luck recently and an engine failure tops it off... i just can't afford it anymore!
  16. Well, its not looking good, so quick poll.... if you had a good car with a bad engine, what would you do?
  17. now if the question was mummy or chips, thats a different matter...
  18. Well im hoping that something merely dislodged an oil hose causing the leak... but nothing looked particularly out of place when i popped the bonnet, so still not really sure! This might be a silly question, but would conrod suddenly give up like that? i did a 200mile round trip this weekend just gone no problems at all!
  19. This could be expensive! Was driving to work as normal, but went to accelerate onto a roundabout and something went bang... and then made a grinding noise for a second or two and the engine cut out and wouldnt start again - although the starter motor wasnt doing anything, so not necessarily that bad a sign. Pulled over, and my first thought was snapped propshaft, or maybe a shafted diff... however, quick look under the car and nothing appears to be hanging off, but there was now an oil leak from the engine. In the 45 mins it took for RAC to come, it leaked all the oil out :( its with a garage now awaiting diagnostics, but anyone any ideas? There was no smoke or steam at any point, and the engine wasnt under much load when it happened - was probably only doing 2-3000 rpm or so. I'm really hoping its not terminal engine failure, as its just got to a state where everything was working, and i was hoping for a trouble free summer! Anyone have any ideas?
  20. ive got a spare show pass if anyone needs it - im not going to be able to make it unfortunately! PM me and i'll send it out.
  21. not at the moment... there is a midlands meet and ride thread on here, but doesnt have any meets on it as yet!
  22. yes, diameter on 235-45-17 is (17" +2(235*45%)) = 643.3mm and on 225-50-17 is (17" +2(225*50%)) = 656.8mm Therefore with the 50 profile tyres the speedo will be underreading slightly as you'll travel further with each wheel rotation, but since most speedos overread by 5-10% you'll probably be closer to your actual speed.
  23. steer clear of the cheap stuff! Not worth the risk on a sports car with 300lbft of torque! Have you looked at that size in some Falken FK452s? Ive got them all round and they're pretty well rated on here.
  24. hmm, hopefully just a minor glitch, was driving motorway today and was holding fine at 80 in 5th now. So hopefully it is sorted now!
  25. Hi All, having some problems with a clutch! Just wondering if anyone has experienced similar or has any suggestions? My old clutch started slipping over xmas, so had a uprated one fitted from a very reputable garage, and in the knowledge that if i did get my car remapped for 350ish bhp it would be fine. I then had the ecu remapped three weeks ago, and the day after the clutch started slipping under full acceleration in 3rd, 4th and 5th. Its been back to the garage twice now... first was to have the pedal adjusted as it was thought that i was slightly depressing the clutch by resting my foot on it (?), which didnt solve it, and then the second time the clutch fluid was rebled, as i was having issues with overheating engines, which was thought might be boiling the clutch fluid and making it expand and slightly depress the clutch - again, didnt solve the problem, as its still slipping in 4th and 5th. I'm running out of ideas now - anyone else got any suggestions as to what it might be or what i need to do to rectify the problem? So annoying having a sports car and then only being able to use half throttle! Strange thing is, its only happening some of the time - today it was fine under hard pulls in 4th and 5th, but yesterday it was just accelerating fine from 2-3kish, then when the boost kicks in it just slips. Anyone have any thoughts?
