  1. lol, does seem to be about 50/50 on the responses! Anyways, we managed to resolve the issue, he emailed me today saying he went to another 3 independents and they would still only fit one of the tyres, so he asked for a part refund on the other one. In the end i gave him £16 back, which means he paid £30 collected for one good part worn, and i flogged two tyres of questionable condition for £30. Not perfect for either of us, but not bad for us either. im pretty happy flogging my old tyres for £30, and we're both happy so have a clear conscience.
  2. mixed opinions it seems... martys point was the first thing i mentioned, obviously a garage cant warranty a part worn, and would much rather sell a new tyre. Ive suggested taking it to a different independent fitter and getting a second opinion. I don't believe that the tyres are shoddy - i'd put them back on my car even after what the garage has said about them cos they were fine when i took them off - apart from being a cheap tyre! Unfortunately he does know where i live - although hes not particularly close by (the other side of birmingham to me). i suppose if he brings them back to me, i'll just put them on ebay again, albeit with a slightly amended description, and then make sure the next seller inspects them before buying, and get a receipt for sold as seen.
  3. I took some tyres of my old zed cos they were cheap and nasty, but still serviceable, and sold them on ebay. The guy came round, gave them a very brief look over, paid me the £46 cash took them to his car and drove home again. He then gave me positive feedback, but did comment that the tyres were slightly scuffed on the inside rim and that the rim protector was a bit damaged. However, hes now emailed me saying hes taken them to a garage to fit them and they wont touch them - they say the sidewall is weakened too much and they wont put them on. hes provided me the garage name, and even taken pictures of the area, and hes offered to drop them back round again - but obviously i want the money, not the tyres - im my mind i sold them fair and square. Admittedly i didnt get a receipt saying sold as seen, but then again if he'd have looked at them and decided they weren't as per the description i wouldnt have forced a sale on him. advice? i certainly wasnt going to let him keep the tyres and have a refund, but now hes offered to drop them back round... i dont know! ???
  4. Thats a proper old skool frame! Not even sure Mountain cycle are still around! still, £600 aint bad for it!
  5. haha let me get mine chipped first! other than that, a nice pub meet and drive would suit me nicely.
  6. awwww awesome choice! anyone can drive a ferrari at an experience day, but an actual touring car round a track, thats gotta be mint! id love to see how an actual touring car handles, with decent slicks and real downforce, plus lightweight! What experience day did you use? Plus rockingham is just up the road from me!
  7. sheesh, amazing what they could do with turbochargers back then... the Bugatti - 3.5 litres, produced ~550hp with 4 turbos the jag XJ200 - 3.5 litres, produced ~540hp with 2 turbos anyone know what boost pressures these were running at? and how reliable they were?!?
  8. ooooh, sorry mate.... dont think there are any northampton meets planned in the near future. ...there were, but you scared them away :D
  9. yeah fine - i dont see a problem at all as long as you use a pair. just be aware the rolling circumfrence will be a bit different. The usual is 235/40/18 front and 265/35/18 rear, so somewhere between there will be fine!
  10. So any plans for a first meet as yet? Weather has been gorgeous round here of late, be good to see some other zeds enjoying the sun!
  11. yes please! been the last two years, so definitely going again! might have a crack at the exhaust sound off :D Plus its just down the road from me... 1. Brillo + girlfriend
  12. mine went after 72000 miles from new - so im guessing yours is around that mileage? Had one of jeffs fitted, lovely and gold, and as an added bonus the clutch pedal is now nice and light again, and the bite is a lot lower down. definitely a lot better, plus can actually overtake stuff in third again without slipping the clutch!
  13. nice! so you're still making 320bhp even at only 5000rpm! no wonder you saw me off with ease the other day, that is a fair old slug of midrange torque you have there! I WANT!!!!
  14. for comparison, heres mine: A'PEXi single cone induction kit Decatted straight through exhausts ARC intercoolers Blitz BOVs. STANDARD ECU STANDARD BOOST (9psi)
  15. its also my birthday. I shall be drinking guinness and magners to celebrate :D
  16. any chance of a pic of the torque curve? interested to see if a chipped ecu flattens off the torque curve at all. Whats was your max torque and when?
  17. you jammy dodger! still good to know what to expect when i have mine chipped, then it'll be a near identical spec as yours. Gonna keep it at 350, or push for more?
  18. hi Dave and welcome to the forum! If you fancy having a chat with someone whos not also trying to sell you a car, im in Leamington Spa, you're welcome to come over for a chat and a drive sometime if you fancy.
  19. well obviously Jenson isn't going to get out of bed for any less than several million. However, im just worried that head and shoulders have enough to pay for him! its a fair step up for them, im betting thats the only head and shoulders ad we see for several years!
  20. bring it on! decatted, custom exhaust with no silencers and then twin 4.5" tips! mine is very loud... too loud to be honest, had a 2 hr drive with the tops off and it did get a bit tiresome. might swap it for a slightly quieter one in the future, have to see how the summer goes!
  21. replacing the head unit and the rear speakers with some new cones does make a massive difference, but the standard 6x4s have no bass at all! i think a subtle boot build with a 8" would be perfect.
  22. depends how easy it is to take it apart i reckon - on my mx5 seats the process was entirely reversable if i didnt like it, was actually quite easy to take the seats apart to get at the foam. might take them out and have a look one weekend - if it looks doable, i might report back how it goes. if not, i too might put the stock wheel back in, just so i can see the clocks! even with the standard wheel i still have to stoop to see if the indicators are on!
  23. There doesnt seem to be anything on this, so here goes... Just fitted my new steering wheel, but as its a smaller diameter than the stock one and even with the seat set as low as it will go, the top of the wheel still obscures all the dials... In my old MX5 i very successfully did a foamectomy on the seat, and removed about an inch of foam so I sat an inch lower, which is all I'd need to do to the seat in the zed to be able to see the dials. Has anyone removed some foam from the front seat to lower it further?
