  1. Good stuff keep em coming all! The car park is nice and big so we should have no problems for space. Looking forward to seeing everyone there! I'll make sure i bring a camera for getting some decent pics.
  2. nice one, cheers Rob!
  3. did you get camber done as well as toe? im getting all sorts of strange vibrations and bump steer, thinking of getting falken 452s and then an alignment done. how out was your tracking before?
  4. ahh, map link didnt work - but its CV7 7JP, Old Road, Meriden. Whack it into Google Maps like i tried to! If someone could post a link for me, that'd be great.
  5. ha, its very much alive and kicking (the tail out) and is sweet! I'll try and get some pics when we get a bit of sun. Just put a new front number plate on, and looking at some clear repeaters as well. This weekends a bit soon for me - I propose Saturday 30th of October, in the afternoon - meet up about 2pm, have a catch up and go for a bit of a drive, then back to pub afterwards for a debrief and maybe a bit of food. I have a Pub in mind - the Queens Head in Meriden: easily reachable from anywhere in the midlands, as its 5 mins from junction 6 of the M42 - see map here: We'll then go for a bit of a b road blast up to Atherstone, along the A5 to the M42, then come off and finish on some dual carriageway along the A446. Whos in? Lets make it a big'un! 1. Brillo (with shiny new Zed) 2.
  6. Hi All, Anyone had any experience with Clear HP166 tyres? ive got some on the back of my zed at the mo, but as ive never heard of them, im wondering if its worth replacing them for something better? Wouldnt be a hard decision to upgrade if they were nearly worn out, but annoyingly they still have 6mm of tread. Advice much appreciated! Brillo
  7. many reasons... love jap cars since having my mx5 want something thats properly fast cheaper to buy and insure than the equivalent supra/3000GT/rx7 its not something you see every day (got bored of other mx5 drivers not waving to me) ive always wanted something faster than my dads Impreza turbo :) and i saw one in blue and looked a dead ringer for a Lamborghini IMO!
  8. i very much doubt i'm ever going to go faster on a public road than i did in my old 306 - which was an indicated 120mph on the M48. The top speed of a zed is deep into license loosing and ban territory, its just not worth the risk. Find an airfield trackday with a long straight and do it there (try Motorsport Events). Or just concentrate on the numbers that matter - how quickly can you do the standard 50-90 overtaking move?
  9. sounds good! I'll start thinking of a place to go and a route. Looking forward to it already!
  10. alright, just started a thread in the regional bit in the midlands. Put some posts in there and make it look popular! I have an idea in mind that would give the cov guys no excuse, its practically on their doorstep.
  11. Hi All, Getting a Zed in 2 days time, and have been asked to pull a mini meet together! got myself in leamington, then a couple in cov and leicester, so that kinda area. what do people want? Decent pub, with large carpark and good food, but does it also have to be close to some good roads for a little drive out round? Cheers Brillo
  12. alright, consider it done! I'll find a weekend in the near future for us all to meet up - maybe two weeks time or something. The trackday is at Blyton park with Javelin trackdays - more than welcome to come along, judging by the entrants so far me and my mates have got it wrapped up with our 328i, s2000 and caterham R400 - a zed would provide a bit of a challenge!
  13. sounds like a plan to me! love to meet up for a drive at some point. Pics (and maybe video) to follow on Monday - i have a trackday sunday lol Its eclipsed4ever's old Z - UK car, 72000 on the clock. Looked at it on my own, but did print out a buyers guide which i tried to stick to! Only thing i noticed was a wheel vibration under braking, so have factored in cost for new tension rod bushings.
  14. hows about this? have to be quick though! http://www.thunderroad.co/hsv/
  15. 23! paying £670 fully comp with Admiral Multicar. Not tempted by a beginners rwd car first? cheaper to insure a mr2 or mx5 or something for a year or two, build up the no claims a bit?
  16. i reckon we should get a private day at a nice cheap handling day - ive been on quite a few of these in my current mazda, well worth the money, it took 4 separate days before i actually knew what i was doing when the back kicked round: http://www.mazdaontrack.co.uk/car-control-days-56-c.asp this is my stock mazda with an open diff - you get the idea:
  17. WOOOHOOO! Getting a Zed on the weekend! Cannot wait, tis going to be awesome! Tis a LWB, twin turbo manual, in dark grey. Just swapped the insurance over from my old car to start on thursday - a mere £188 more than my 1.8 mx5 for a total of £676 for the year! bargain! (although computer said no when i mentioned an intercooler.. "oh, did i say i had intercooler? my mistake, turns out its just a radiator..." :D) The car im getting has an exhaust that sounds AWESOME! custom made dual 5" tips, decatted and divorced downpipes, plus BOVs thrown in for added awesomeness. Gonna have to post a video when i get it through. Picking it up on Saturday! PS. what are divorced downpipes, anyways?!?
  18. thanks all - i'll try and haggle the cost of replacement tension rod bushings off the asking price, as well as new front tyres. ive got a few things planned for it, but all the big stuff i want has already been done, which will save me a fair bit!
  19. hmm, id be surprised if it was the front discs as they were replaced not that long ago - but i'll have a good look at them the next time i go over and look at the car. Looking forward to Zed ownership soon!
  20. ok, so shouldnt be considered a deal breaker, more of a haggle point? z centre do some poly ones for £45, i think.
  21. Hi All, Got (hopefully) a simple problem with a car im looking at buying - theres a little bit of wheel shake when braking, which is making me a little hesitant. Looking round the car i see it has recent new front pads (EBC redstuff) and new rotors, drilled and grooved, but the backs are still stock. I also noticed the wheels didnt have any balancing weights on them. Just wondering if anyone has much experience of this? The seller says the car hasnt been driven that much lately so is it possible this is just scrubbing off a top layer of rust on the rotors? I'm going to get the wheels rebalanced and probably realigned, but just wondered if theres anything else i might be missing? Many thanks, Andrew
  22. prefer the 350z myself - dont like the look of the 370z as much, the light clusters look weird imo. the 350z has been on the agenda since it came out, but the 370z dont really do it for me.
  23. theres a student with a zed? muchos respect!
  24. hmmm, i was originally going to go for a SWB, but seeing them side by side, id have to agree that the LWB does look better! I'll admit i'm very unlikely to use the +2 bit, but the seats fold to extend the boot space, which means it should swallow more than enough for a week on the continent.
  25. i cant say im convinced if im honest - too many other cars around to hit if you get it even slightly wrong. Maybe i need to find a nice big empty roundabout at night to get over my fear of oversteer on public roads. Ive done a lot of trackdays and drift days in an mx5 and a 328i, when the back steps out there its awesome and nicely balancable, but still a long way from trying it on the road. Im mainly buying a zed for overtakes - thats my poison on the queens highway :)
