Any of you mad horsepower freaks need big brakes?
Agreed that they would be more useful on a car that is going to see a fair bit of track but why would you not want a much larger brake setup if you were planning on gunning for big power? If the guys are looking at pushing the 700-800 brake barrier with their zed then why not 12 pots/380mm, look at similar brake setups on 700-800bhp 'hyper cars'... most super cars would be embarrased by 356 and 8 pots ....i have the same 356 8 pots and 356 6 pots at the back , they are replacing my 3G 330 mm discs and those locked up under hard braking, if you think ABS will stop 100% the wheels locking , then think again it is only a assistance to the braking system to help prevent brakes locking up the wheels if you jam on too hard with any big brakes then the standard ABS will struggle . only reason i have gone for bigger brakes is i will be running nigh on 500rwhp when mapped and intend to hurl it doen the strip every now and then the 3G discs looked a little flimsy

mate your zed is a one off, not many in that colour or to that spec... you will forever regret it as you will never get another like that and will always compare that to the one you have now , put a cover over her ..or put her in dry storage , use the money you saved on tax by sorning the zed for that ......buy a cheap cheap runabout enjoy the zed when things settle down and you can enjoy it more....it will be like a congratulations ive done it present to yoursel;f

12 pots on 380 will be severe over braking power, you will be locking up the tyres and destroying them every time you put your foot on the stoppies stick to the 8 pots and 356mm 6 pot 356 on the back ..ample if not also a too powerfull brake set up. i can understand 12 pots on a veyron or 1000hp track beast but not as much on a road car or will yours be a track day weapon ?

Matt chopped in his M6 bought a Q7 audi ....and he has changed that now to an Rs5 .....need to get his skyline on the drive over 900 rwbhp last time it was mapped at 1.6 bar boost , thats without the nitrous and a remap of 2.5 bar ...should nicely see my driveway power figure well over the 2000 ...yes baz i do have a very long drive 150 feet of it ....

following on from Big Jims thread ..with 3 M3's and a GTr on his drive ..how much power has ever been sat on your drive and how many cars to make it...il start .....Matts M6 510bhp Turks X5 v8 sport 4.4 315BHP my ML 5.5v8 MG merc 387 BHP ( remapped ) Not too bad 1212 BHP from only 3 motors .....

Central heating problem
hi Vijay the pump may be making the right noises but doing nothing inside the pump body, i would be looking at taking the pump out of line and running it so you can see inside the pump body and watch the impeller go round ...to do this you would be draining the system anyway ...so whilst it is down and bled remove all the rads and flush them with a hose pipe outside near a drain ....they take some flushing by the way till they run clear, a magnaclean are brilliant i have one fitted by BG whn ethe changed the heating system a few years ago ..its full of crud very time i clean it ..saves a lot going into the system ..as the black crud is mostly magnetic it sticks to rad pipes and walls and is difficult to shift with just heating watre pressure it needs a good full power flushing to move it ....sounds like the system needs a good old overhaul

hows the front lip coming along ? 99 spec side skirts look v good , i still think it would be worth dabbling a toe in the water to see who or how many would like the kaminari style rear spoiler and skirts...id deffo be up for a rear spoiler to change out my wings west mid height one with

im old enough to remember TG doing a review on the Austin Allegro and remarked thats its peculiar square steering wheel would be copied by every car manufacturer in the world as they thought it was that good .........they are still getting it wrong today...and what gives with JC's gob ....he is always slack jawed and looks like a scruffy chavs dad ......you young uns need to watch a few old TG's to see what your missing.........ohh my joints are creaking .....anyone got and liniment ??

Central heating problem
check the divertor valve Vijay...find the 3 way valve it willhave a motorised actuator on the top or side of it ....usualy near the pump.....go to the control unit and get somebody to switch it to hot water only while you look at the the valve you will hear it move and see the pin slide to a new position , now ask your helper to select heating only the valve will move again and the pin will slide ....select both hot water and heating and the valve will divert to both systems ....these valves are notorious for sticking .....you can move the slider pin by hand to alter the diverting flow if you need to if they break down .......

i used to realy enjoy TG ..it was fun and informative and all about razzing fast cars against each other ..now its all a diatribe of pathetic double meanings, special challenges , and the three of them acting like students on the pish .....a complete and utter waste of liscence payers money..case in point ...trashing brand new cars that i know some people would love to have given to them ....dancing on ice is more entertaining than that crap these days and thats saying something ...

Rear shocks is there a difference between n/s and o/s?
personaly with any suspension component i would replace both sides....worn and mismatched items can lead to really strange handling effects especialy if you are pushing it hard ......best match up as equally as possible . OMO

thanks Yowser ..a veritable encyclopedia of zed knowledge .....i supose the only difference is the leader gear sets apart from the much higher cost, is it allows the retention of TT drive shafts etc
