  1. Good enough for me....I hope Bob likes it!!:scared: One down and one to go........:thumbup1:
  2. The deep centre recess is challenging to paint so Im doing it first to allow the basecoat to flash off before doing the surrounding area. Bob also wants the insides in bronze so this wont be a quick blow over job!!
  3. Track days are good fun. That is what its all about for me. It can be a little daunting to start with. Im still not 100% confident on Donington which is a very fast flowing track. This week will help me. Im not very fast in real world terms so I have to tuck over to the right to let the really fast stuff by. The cheaper evenig sessions finish at the end of August so I may not get back there this year? I will post up if I am going somewhere else. Blyton Park maybe??
  4. There are benefits to being retired.:yes:
  5. Yeah but it has turned out badly from my point of view. No matter Im booked for wednesday evening session at Donington. Nobody else was ever going to come anyway.
  6. HELP!!!! Peeps have turned my thread in to a serious discussion. :scared: I was only having a bit of fun with the topic!! Never mind. Carry on. I will start a new thead in a lighter tone ......
  7. Standard 300ZX brakes with std pads do not cope at all well with track driving. We had a good demo of that at Three Sisters Track.. FYI Three Sisters is tight and twisty and only 1100m long. Its very hard on brakes and tyres. Member Gray and me were both there in slicktops a few years ago. Gray and his other driver destroyed their brakes in a few short sessions...stock set up. Track tyres overheating normally happens in my car before brake fade. Federal RS595s and 350Z gold Brembos with Blue stuff pads. And the situation will be worse in a std 2+2 due to more weight to stop.
  8. Happy memories right there Ian. We are a very small group of 300 owners who have been and done TOTB.
  9.:lol::lol::lol: There are some grains of truth in there!
  10.:lol::lol: You could come along and take your own track action pics. Bring Andrew G with you ...he wants to sit in on a track session with me.
  11. I see many owners building big power cars and often fitting huge brakes.:scared: Thats great for posting threads on here and Facebook. But can you use them?? Can you drive and stop quick?? Personally i dont think you can......:innocent: So here is a chance to prove me wrong and make eat my words. In the style of "Street Outlaws" Im calling you out!!:tt2: Here is the challenge. Can you beat a 235bhp NA driven by an OAP?? Come to Donington. Aug 22 late afternoon for the evening track session. I can manage 10 laps at a time. How often in that 10 laps can you overtake me?? Once? Twice??
  12. Now I have another pair of Bob's Volk Racnig wheels for the "Racing bronze" treatment. This time its CE28s I think?? This silver pair need to match an existing bronze pair he has. You can never have too many Volk Racing wheels according to Bob:lol:
  13. A pair of petrol tank straps to fit 2+2. Rust free. Finished in satin black. All threads OK with bolts in them. £20 collected UK courier or post.. from £6.50. Reply on here. PM me email me pmaczc@madasafish.com
  14. The car is always close to the kerbs at Three Sisters!!!! Whatever you want.....but NO Calendars!
  15. Tracey Buckley at Three Sisters has taken some good ones but as said already she owns the rights. They can be bought quite cheaply.
  16. I have a few but most are copyright and watermarked....................................... Here is one that isnt...I have two versions of it
  17. Forty years go I was fitting cages to shells. Not much has changed!!
  18. It's going back to my roots but after all this time I may not like it as much.:scared: My avatar with the Mini Cooper S Works replica was taken in the isle of Man where I regularly went in the 70s to compete. So Im not a stranger to fast FWD and tarmac.
  19. Yep! MG ZR 160. 3 door. 1.8K series with VVC cam mechanism. Engine needs care and love. Lots of quick Caterhams and Elise with them. Chassis etc is great. Cheap(ish). Simple. Fun. Hugely popular in club racing with several series running. I have been to several race meetings to watch...
  20. Blue zed was sold earlier this year. Probably while you were working away!! The proceeds of the sale are funding this one.
  21. Another toy in the box to play with. kind of track orientated. Non turbo of course. Not too high tech so most of it can be done in my workshop.:thumbup1: usual motorsport basics. Some "out of the box" ideas/mods. Progress is slow as always, thats a problem with being old!!:scared: Everything takes longer. I was hoping for an outing in 2018.........probably not going to happen.. Most of you wont like it..............................
  22. That does look very smart indeed. Clean and simple.
  23. We probably do but Im not convinced that killing off the most popular and busiest thead is going to help. Time will tell .....Im happy to give it a go. Are you going to monitor to see if the number of new threads per week increases??
  24. Well it looks like the whole club is transferring to FB now Jeff. Everyone has been "invited " Im even more lost now.:scared:
